It’s Time to Reform California’s Cannabis Laws!
California voters believe that our laws criminalizing cannabis (marijuana) have failed. According to an April statewide Field Poll, a majority, 56 percent support legalizing cannabis.
The time for reform is now.
The Regulate, Control, and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010 will:
- Regulate cannabis like alcohol: Allow adults 21 and older in California to posses up to one ounce of cannabis
- Give local governments the ability to tax and regulate the sale of cannabis to adults 21 and older
- Generate billions of dollars in revenue to fund what matters most in California: jobs, healthcare, public safety, schools and libraries, state parks, roads, transportation, and more
Does Paul Lucas support the legalization of marijuana? How will the expansion of marijuana sales affect crime in Garden Grove?
Dear Mr Suck,
Yes I do support the legalization of Marijuana. I support the legalization of Cannabis, Medical Mrijuana, concentrates etc. I have personally known people who have benefitted tremendously from the use of cannabis as a medicinal remedy which used to be alleviated by those same persons with heavy narcotics such as norco, vicodin, percoset.
As far as the legalization of marijuanas effect on crime, I suspect it would have the same effect as the repeal of prohibition did on alcohol. The crime dispaeared. And I dont know of any instances in the past; nor have I witnessed any in my lifetime where a person intoxicated in medical marijuana or even recreational marijuana has committed a violent crime.
now if we look at how alcohol has effected violent crime, driving fatalities, family strife, etc etc I think we can paint a very different picture.
I agree with Paul on all points.
Legalization however should be extended to all illegal drugs, they should be taxed, regulated etc. This would save the State a couple of Billion a year, each city would be able to saving money on police and Jail. Violect crime would drop.
All these items should be taxed, the money from this tax should be allocated to reduce drug use by providing treament for the addicted and education for those in school.
The 250 Billion the Federal Governement now spends could be allocated to deficit reduction and health care.
