President Obama over the weekend signaled compromise. Realizing the design and intent of the Health Care bills he has shepherded through Congress are wildly unpopular and cratering, he stepped back from the abyss and offered an olive branch. The co-op doesn’t send freedom loving Americans into spasms of fear and loathing, at last until they read the fine print. And while there are several different kinds of co-ops and I am quite sure the Democrats want something for our Health Care like the Fannie Mae co-op did to the housing market, it’s a start. I’ll give him that. OK?
But many Democrats have already signaled that they are not going to go along. Democrats are signaling en masse that their support for Health Care Reform is not just fixing prices and access, but making sure we all live under socialized medicine. Without it, they aren’t interested in Health Care Reform. Now Obama is stuck. The conversations have changed in the last week. More and more union thugs are showing up at town hall meetings. Companies with ominous sounding acronyms like AKPD and GMMB that have millions at stake are beginning to round up their activists on call and the argument is beginning to be, why isn’t Obama staying the course?
By the way, has everyone been paying attention to the groups that really DO have money on the line with Obamacare? It could be said that the only reason the President is pushing the particular health care scheme he is so David Axelrod and the rest of the President’s flunkies can make a pile of money. The Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan government watchdog group said “The potential takeaway from the public is ‘friends in cahoots to engineer a grass roots result.'” Healthy Economy Now spokesman Jeremy Van Ess said the two firms were hired because “they are the best at what they do. Period.” So was Halliburton. Hm. Ok, file for later.
A critical time is coming when Democrats will have to decide whether they want to stick with Obama or they want to go with the LaRouche-ites and the rest of the mad Left who don’t think Obama goes far enough, watching the bipartisanship shrink away and their popularity freefall. Somehow, I don’t know that the Democrats are that smart. To them, their dogma demands only one outcome and the rest of us bedamned. I say “Go ahead, knock yourself out. You want to play socialized medicine, go do it. But leave me out of it. It’s only freedom if I can ignore it.” The only thing I will hear in return is a chorus of “It won’t work if everyone isn’t made to join!”
This is precisely why it will fail.
Him and Cheney look a lot alike to me, both nuts also.
If the republicans want to be the party of NO the the Dems in congress will be left with no other choice.
LaRouche is right. Obama’s health care plan is corporatist, fascist.
Larouche should be banned from public speaking. He is thus not even dangerous, simply and mainly ridiculous. It is not even necessary to combat him : he has got no concrete arguments and proposals other than anti Obama tirades. Even the most violent anti Democrats will get first bored, then tired and will end up ignoring him in the long run !…
Best regards
Bruno…from France, with relatives and friends all over he US
Larouche is a sick man full of hatred
Why won’t any lines get published, because they are anti Larouche ?
