“A group of men got into an argument that turned into a gunfire exchange Tuesday night at Lincoln Elementary School, police said. Police were first called about a fight happening at the school’s volleyball court at 425 S. Sullivan St., near Willits Street, and were called again about shots being fired, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Tammy Franks,” according to the O.C. Register.
In all about five to eight men were involved. “A soccer game was being played at the school when the shots were fired and several people ran from the school.”
I am assuming that these gang members were playing at the school because of our park shortage.
Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido recently announced that he wants to build up to 200 homes on lots seized by the city, over by the train station. His plans do not include any parks.
Santa Ana leads the county in violent crime – and we have a massive park shortage and only one library. Recently Pulido cried to the media about losing state money that he wanted to use to fix our streets. He is already spending over one billion to widen Bristol St., while other streets are in disrepair.
Pulido campaigned last year with the message that Santa Ana is one of Orange County’s safest cities…
“No parks – no high priced condos”, period.
Art – Maybe you could put in a good word with your favorite planning commission hack member.
junior,
There are two members of the Usual Suspects on the Santa Ana Parks and Rec Commission. You might put in a good word with them too…
Sometimes I wonder what I’m a’goin’ to do
But there ain’t no cure for the summer time blues.
Stay away from gangs, they’re a bunch of sharks,
Gonna play some ball, but there ain’t no parks.
I called the mayor, but he said quote: “I’d like to help you son, but you’re to young to vote.”

It’s not really safe anymore. This year, my classroom was broken into several times. I went to work many mornings and the handle on my door was bent and hit with a sledge hammer. I couldn’t even get into the classroom. Of course, no one was around to assist me (not even the custodian) could get me into the room, but we continue to have 8 assistant superintendents, but 1 guy on call to help in times like these?
