María Belén Chapur has been identified as Mark Sanford’s alleged mistress. Politico links to an Argentinian outlet that identifies the mother-of-two. The media has been camped out by her apartment building near the Buenos Aires zoo.
Maria Belen Chapur is 43 and has the two sons from a previous marriage. Maria is described by a neighbor as a beautiful brunette who plays tennis, goes jogging, and has large eyes. It was previously, erroneously reported that she worked for an agriculture company. TMZ talked to a bar owner, who says he watched Sanford and Chapur kiss and cuddle over the weekend, and said Maria has green eyes, dirty blonde hair a “banging body.” A neighbor also described Sanford arriving at Chapur’s apartment building late last week with a small sports bag. Emails published in The State also are addressed to a woman named Maria.
Blackbook has unsourced information that Maria Belen Chapur went to the “posh St. Catherine’s Moorlands School in the preppy Belgrano neighborhood, then graduated from the stodgy Universidad Católica Argentina with a degree in (wait for it) International Relations.”

In the interest of creating what he called “an orderly transition,” South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford today transferred his extramarital affair with a woman in Argentina to South Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor, André Bauer.
Acknowledging “this isn’t what I signed up for,” Mr. Bauer said he would accept his expanded responsibilities over all aspects of the Governor’s out-of-wedlock romance to free up Mr. Sanford for state duties.
Included in the Lieutenant Governor’s new portfolio, he said, is the “writing of all sexed-up, misspelled emails” and “complimenting the lady’s tan-lines.”
In a press conference this morning, Mr. Bauer was philosophical about his new duties, telling reporters, “Well, boys, I guess I’ll be hitting the Appalachian Trail.”

Although on a local level, I heard last night that the city plans to sell/lease(?) Memorial Pool to the YMCA and has slashed the parks and recreation staff.
Juxtapose that information with the story in the Register yesterday, about the city planning to develop 200 homes, right now they are shopping around for a “master developer” to “study” the area for 6 months.
The city is SLASHING recreation services for it current residents but HAS the money to hire a “master developer” for some future boondoggle, SOMETHING SMELLS!

SULLIVANS ISLAND, S.C. — South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford says she discovered her husband’s affair in January when she found a letter to the governor from his mistress.
Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press on Friday she told him to end the affair and was shocked this week when she found out he’d gone to Argentina to see his mistress. She says she believed Gov. Mark Sanford had gone somewhere to work on writing a book.
Jenny Sanford says she stayed with her husband while their four sons were attending their private school in Columbia. She waited until the school year ended to leave him for their coastal home on Sullivans Island.
She wept as she displayed her boys’ stellar report cards and said she most worries about how they’re being affected by the scandal. Jenny Sanford says she plans to take them out of the state for the weekend.

To hear S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford tell it, the affair with the beautiful Argentinian woman that has him fighting for his political life is the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife.
At a tearful press conference earlier this week, Sanford stated definitively that his affair with Maria Belen Chapur was the only time he has strayed from his wife, but multiple sources in and around the state capital of Columbia, S.C. are telling FITS that this is not the case.
In fact, an attorney who is said to represent another woman allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with the governor was reportedly present at Sanford’s dramatic press conference Wednesday.
FITS is working to confirm this information, which if true would obviously represent another major bombshell in this rapidly unfolding story.

Sanford’s wife warned him not to see mistress
Michael Jackson’s death may have taken the spotlight off him for now, but things still aren’t looking up for South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.
The governor has now had to offer to reimburse his state’s taxpayers for part of the cost of a trip he took to Brazil and Argentina last year. His critics are welcoming that move, but aren’t exactly about to let him off the hook politically for it.
And Sanford’s wife Jenny, a key figure in his political career, is speaking out. In an interview with the Associated Press, Jenny Sanford said she discovered her husband’s affair in January, when she found a letter he’d written to his girlfriend, and that he agreed to break things off. Before he disappeared last week, she says, he told her he was going somewhere to write — that’s what she’d said from the beginning — and that she specifically told him not to go visit the other woman in his life.
That he went anyway is unlikely to do his marriage any good, obviously; in a state like South Carolina, where a majority of voters already want to see him resign, it won’t help him politically, either.

When The Governor prayed to the almighty for intervention, “God looked down and said “Aw, sh%t, OK OK…..HHMMM I got I’ll kill Michael Jackson, That oughtta do it”.

Larry Craig – attacks ‘nasty boy’ Bill Clinton repeatedly for having an extramarital affair, then gets caught soliciting gay sex in a bathroom by a police officer.
Mark Foley – attacks Clinton’s “vile” affair and then spends several years having sex with young male pages and covering it up.
David Vitter – calls for the resignation of Bill Clinton while having a multi-year relationship with ‘the DC Madam’.
Newt Gingrich – had enough sense not to attack Clinton because he was already having sex with future wife number three, Calista something or other, while Clinton was having his affair.

BUENOS AIRES — The mystery of who revealed Gov. Mark Sanford’s e-mail messages may finally be solved. A business associate of Mr. Sanford’s Argentine mistress said Friday that private messages between the two lovers had been sent anonymously to a South Carolina newspaper last December by an Argentine man the mistress had briefly dated.
Last December, the executive said, Ms. Chapur was dating a young Argentine a few months after her affair with Mr. Sanford began. The man happened to see the e-mail messages being exchanged between the governor and Ms. Chapur, said the executive — who said he had direct knowledge of the situation — and hacked into her e-mail account to see the rest.
Infuriated, the man sent the messages to The State, the newspaper in South Carolina’s capital, Columbia.
When she found out, the executive said, Ms. Chapur immediately ended the relationship with the man, whose identity has not been disclosed.
