Eagle Forum of CA & Calvary Chapel’s Salt & Light Ministries provided a “free” all day informative conference in their Costa Mesa church yesterday entitled “The Challenge of CHANGE.” Based on the seating capacity of their sanctuary we estimated attendance exceeded 1,000 concerned Christians, many of whom stayed the entire day.
Most of the speaker presentations were in perfect alignment with the issues listed on the front cover of the program which reads: “How the decisions in Washington affect our family values, business and education.”
After the welcome greeting, invocation, colors and music, 2nd District Supervisor John Moorlach served as the morning session MC and started of by introducing OK. Senator Randy Brogdon, candidate for governor of OK.
Early in his presentation Senator Brogdan quoted Thomas Paine describing conditions during our 1776 Revolution when he stated “these are the times that will try mens souls.” Randy went on to add “America, we have a problem. We’re in a spending frenzy–highest unemployment in 25 years–symptoms of a deep rooted problem. We have taken our eyes off a fixed reference point– freedom–and now this nation is crumbling right before our eyes.”
While Senator Brogdon gave an inspiring overview of “our freedom being attacked on all sides” and that “it is our duty to hand freedom down to the next generation,” the key message of this post, based on the Green Party’s stealth activities in our country, will focus on the wake up call by Holly Swanson, author and founder of Operation Green Out!
This in no way diminishes the informative and thought provoking presentations of Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum, Brad Dacus, Pacific Justice, John Ziegler, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, Orlean Koehle, Joseph Andrews, Georgiana Preskar, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson or Laguna Niguel Mayor Robert Ming. We also watched videos from Gary Bauer, Eric Buehrer, Gateways to Better Education, Brigitte Gabriel, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family.
Author Swanson devoted over 10 years “investigating the environmental movement which triggered her concerns about the undisclosed political agenda of the Green” Party. Don’t be deceived by that party label. That is why I chose the headline which reads ” “Set Up and Sold Out” (or how to boil a live frog) which is the title of her updated third edition 467 page book.
While the media covers the two major parties with daily updates every time someone sneezes, when was the last time you heard of the “Greens?”
In researching this story I found this on the Internet. “The environmentalist push and the greens ARE the communist party agenda to take control and start by manipulating control of lands, guns, industries, airports, trucking, food supplies, farms etc….until first public control (socialism) then Government control (communism) is in place.”
Let me now paraphrase/quote from Holly’s presentation and some text from her book.
The Green Party movement has an undisclosed political agenda which models Communism with Socialism being the first step. “Sound steps for a healthier environment.” Clever term for the “radical left wing agenda of the Green Movement.”
“Environmentalism is the new communism.” She followed by quoting Czech Republic Republic president Vaclav Klaus who acknowledge having “climate alarmist ” whose goal is to “save the planet.” He authored “Blue Planet in Green Shackles.”
We throw terms around defining different forms of government. Holly simplified it as follows (which can also be found on page 98 of her book):
Capitalism: Individual control of production and distribution. (Gilbert comment. Which we enjoyed until now).
Socialism: Public control of production and distribution. (Gilbert comment. Banking and auto industry 2009).
Communism: Government control of production and distribution. (Gilbert comment. What we have to look forward to unless we wake up and defend our country from this slippery slope transition).
In her book Mrs. Swanson acknowledges that “Americans support environmental protection and taking the necessary steps to correct environmental problems. The dilemma we face is different from either of these points. The problem is, the environmental cause is being used to conceal the implementation of a specific political agenda most Americans are not aware of.
Our immediate challenge involves making more and better distinctions about the answers to environmental questions. We need to begin making distinctions between productive steps toward a healthy environment and steps to implement a political agenda under the guise of environmental protection.”
Check out this term. “Education for sustainability.” Hijacking our public education by bombarding our kids with green environment concepts. They are “using our education to transform our society.” She points out that “89% of our kids attend public schools” where they are exposed to the Green agenda. Here is an illustration from the Internet.
Action 1: Green Schools
“Design and support opportunities for integrating the concepts and principles of education for sustainability into formal educational programs from early grade school through the university level.
Sustainable development requires much broader public awareness and understanding of the natural resource and economic challenges facing the world in the 21st century. The 3,000 institutions of higher education in the United States are significant but largely overlooked leverage points in the transition to a sustainable world. Not only do they prepare students who will become teachers and leaders in the educational field, they also educate the students who will become leaders in other fields. These institutions also influence their alumni, many of whom constitute our nation’s current leaders.”
Let me shift gears and provide text from pages 84 & 85 of Set Up & Sold Out.
“Protecting the environment and saving the earth for future generations” is the Green Bait. “It is a compelling reason to consider an economic conversion form Capitalism to Socialism. The Greens are playing off the fear of environmental ruin to persuade Americans that only drastic change will save the earth.
Many Americans have accepted the idea. This is not because Americans are ignorant. It is because Americans are being manipulated. The emotional hooks the greens are using are powerful, not factual. We need to make more, better and constant distinctions between environmental protection and efforts to impose the Green Agenda. The multiple calls for drastic change in America can be traced back to the Green Party program.
The environmental movement offers Green Communists many opportunities to quietly weave socialist ideas into America’s public policies. The Greens are using every opportunity to magnify anything negative about Capitalism, our way of life, individual freedom and independent thinking to diminish American values. Some basic rights now under attack by the Greens are:
Property rights, food choices and right to bear arms.”
Just as we peel the onion back to see who is funding candidates for elected office do we have any idea as to who is funding the Green Movement? Mikhail Gorbachev filed papers with the CA Sec of State in April 1991 for the Gorbachev Foundation. In “Set Up & Sold Out” she poses the question. “Who financed Gorbachev? “
“The environmental movement is funded largely by the Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA), which is supported by 138 foundations and groups, including:
Ford Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, Rockefeller Family Fund.” The Gorbachev Foundation has received long term financial commitments from the same groups.
Let me close with this final excerpt.
“Set Up and Sold Out” is a revealing look into the secret side of environmental politics. Americans must understand there is a subversive motivation behind the push for drastic change and rigid environmental regulations. We are all involved. This is not a liberal vs. conservative or a Republican vs. Democrat issue. This situation transcends all others. No one is exempt.”
Larry, Very well done! it is about time some truth gets posted! The green movement has long been know to some as a “Watermelon” movement. It is green on the outside but RED on the inside!
It’s about time!
I have been waiting nearly ten years for the Calvary folks to take a position! I knew they were just being polite while HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS CIVILIANS were killed in Iraq.
Let’s rally the troop were it really matters…
WTF??? The Gorachev Foundation?? How about Enron, Cheveron, Haliburton, Blackwater, Lockheed to name a few.
Fish fu** for less than were talking about here Larry.
Pathetic.
Larry,
How does a church do something this political and still hand on to their tax exemption status?
“How does a church do something this political and still hand on to their tax exemption status?”
Its all rather simple, Art.
When that church EXPOSES those godless, godless commies to the good, pearl-clutching, upright white citizens of Orange County.
I sleep well knowing that the good Christian citizens of Cavalry Chapel are busy fighting the sinister agents of the Green Party. Until now, I sincerely worried that the dark elements who regularly receive one percent of the national presidential vote will one day rise and take over our tender Christian nation and throw us to the vices of the vile godless French.
No more.
Why do I no longer worry? Because a church in Costa Mesa is on the case.
It’s that simple Art.
DU
Larry,
Thanks for sharing information that I normally would not have any idea is out there.
But, Phyllis Shafly? Seriously? She’s got to be at least a hundred years old and she has ideas that date back even further than that.
The “Green Agenda” is such a problem because it actually incorporates science and observation. How many “Greens” do you know that are in power?
Zero.
I’m with Art. Calvary Chapel needs to pay taxes like the rest of the political businesses.
To Art, Red, The Mechanical Eye and all other Juice readers who question using the church building for this event let me put your mind at ease. This is no different than holding church services in schools on any Sunday morning.
Brad Dacus, President of Pacific Justice Institute, had a table out in the courtyard where I picked up their booklet entitled “The Church and Politics” that contains clear definitions of what a church can do and cannot engage in with respect to “advocacy.”
Quoting from page 9 where it reads: “Churches may engage in issue advocacy, spending no more than an insubstantial amount of the church’s budget.” Reading further he writes “The definition of lobbying activites include voter initiatives, balot propositions, constitutional amendments and referendums. The IRS defines “lobbying expeditures” as any expenditure for the purpose of influencing legislation. The IRS has not given a specific definition of what “insubstantial ” means, but courts have held that spending less than 5% of the organization’s time and money is within acceptable limits.”
Go back and read my opening line of this post which says it is the “Salt and Light Ministries” who have provided the venue, not the church directly.
Before attacking the church for allowing Eagle Forum to use their facility to educate and inform the public, where anyone could attend this free event with open seating and no questions asked, let me point out some other sections of the Pacific Justice booklet.
“Churches may allow the distribution of non-partisan voter education materials (e.g., voter guides and scorecards) that do not imply an endorsement for any particular candidate.”
Another section which did not apply Saturday, relates to “Providing Political Forums for Candidates.”
Page 10 covers “Educating Your Congregation” where it states that “Churches may educate members of the congregation about pending legislation.”
I saw several people whom I know who, like myself, are not members of Calvary Chapel. Further, the speakers did not focus on any pending legislation.
Sorry that you were unable to attend as there was seating for up to another 1,000 or so attendees.
I would be tempted to tell you that this entire piece is a crock and that Holly Swanson is an agitator who has discovered that there is an audience for her particular brand of baloney. However, the fact that I am CoChair of the EcoAction Committee, Green Party US, would probably discredit me from being listened to.
What I would ask is that anyone who has not already made up their minds on this subject check in to what the Green Party really stands for rather than listening to someone else describe it.
It would seem that there are many enthusiastic supporters of big government and big corporations since the Green Party key value of DeCentralization pushes us to call for community control over our resources, for developing local economic self-sufficiency, for having local (at least bio-regional) decision making over how we use our resources for the benefit of our local community. But, I guess that none of your readers are interested in that.
If you happen to think that decentralization of power is a good idea, then we would welcome you into the Green Party.
“Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum, Brad Dacus, Pacific Justice, John Ziegler, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, Orlean Koehle, Joseph Andrews, Georgiana Preskar, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson or Laguna Niguel Mayor Robert Ming. We also watched videos from Gary Bauer, Eric Buehrer, Gateways to Better Education, Brigitte Gabriel, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family.”
What an impressive wall of American intellectuals. These were (and I daresay still are)the same cast of cretins who defend George Bushes disatrous reign of error. Especially ironic since Bush was the one who greased the American skids into socialism.
The Green Party and their 2% of the vote are planning to turn the USA commie? Too funny!
Well, maybe if our party keeps adhering to these dingbats and trogs we will hasten their rise.
I hope Devore was only there to promote nuclear energy, but somehow I doubt it.
Good afternoon Mr. Rolley.
Unlike some biased blogs, the Orange Juice blog keeps an open mind to hear all “three” sides of the debate regardless of the topic. Bloggers on the Juice come from a very diversified political philosophy and idealogy.
Thank you for posting your opposing position.
As a freedom loving agitator myself I would take offense to your opening. Are we to keep our heads in the sand and let government control our lives?
Perhaps you might comment on the following text which is found on pages 70,71 of the book.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have been working to build a broad social coalition that includes the Greens. DSA goals include turning America’s economy away from Capitalism toward a public controlled economy with a focus on environmental issues. DSA’s objective is to overturn the current way America operates. The following quotations are from the DSA brochure:
“We’re Greens and we’re Socialists too.”
“We stand in the traditions of the earliest anti-capitalists rebellions.”
“the Green agenda cannot be achieved without a broad social movement that challenges the idealogy of profit and free enterprise head on.”
To gain the power to execute the ‘Green agenda’, DSA indicates a broad social movement that challenges free enterprise head-on will be necessary. DSA indicates this movement will emerge in one of two ways, by:
“a revived Democratic party, or through the splitting off of the left-wing Democrats to join a popular movement.”
The Green Party is the left-wing split off. The environmental movement is the popular mass movement of choice. The Green Party program is the blueprint, the check-off list which is being implemented one step at a time.
And the born again Christians is the right-wing split off. Or at least for the sake of the Republican party, I hope they will become that.
Wow … heavy … I’d no idea mainstream American science was leading the rebirth of communism. Thanks for posting, Larry. Art works in environmental clean-up; he might be involved in this green thing, too.
I am impressed with the intelligence, civility, and knowledge of Larry Gilbert.
It is refreshing to read material that is highly informative and where the argument presented is strong enough that there is no need for personal demeaning of opponents.
David. Good to hear from you again. And no, Chuck did not mention nuclear energy nor his entering the race for US Senate. In fact he had the tough task of making a presentation which sadly was chock full of “numbers” which, as a listener in the audience, typically does not make for a colorfull presetnation.
What numbers you ask? Both our “past” and current presidents TARP and all the “investments” which have followed over the past 100 days that our grandkids will need to pay off
SAHS Teacher.
While most of Saturday’s presentations covered topics that I see in the media on a daily basis I felt it best to focus on one that we do not hear about, namely the Green Party. We surely have heard about environmentalists and the activism
that they are involved in but not the connection to the Greens who do have an agenda that flies under the radar screen. Mikhail Gorbachev has been born again? From a powerful Communist leader to a really friendy guy who simply wants to save the earth? My only request of the readers is to “trust, but verify” the facts and not be a sleeping frog as they turn up the heat and your goose is cooked.
BONNIE. Welcome to the Orange Juice and thank you for your kind comments.
While I prefer having a civil dialogue and debate on the blog there are partisans who simply are angry and cannot present a strong argument other than to engage in personal attacks. It goes with the territory. Each of us, from the founder Art Pedroza to the newest member of the Juice team expresses their own opinions and accepts the fact that anonymous writers can have their thoughts posted.
tmare.
I am surprised that you are fearfull of right wing Christians like myself when we have never met. Let me tell you that I am a Conservative first and do not rubber stamp every action or policy by the Republican Party. In fact I have many acquaintances who use the same yard stick.
Hello Larry,
I have been registered with the Green Party here in California since 1994. I have been active with the party on and off for the last 12 years. I was elected and served on the national committee. Allow me to clarify a few things.
First, I have never heard of the DSA. I don’t know who the key people are there or if they have any significant membership.
Second, the author, Swanson, is confabulating her way to book sales. Anybody involved with the Green PARTY knows that we are not the directors of the environmental movement. Although we would love to, it is nonsense.
Third, in terms of economics, the greatest accomplishments globally that the Green Party (and moreso, independent folks that support both the Green Party and the Libertarian Party in the USA) has achieved has been in advocating and growing the GIFT economy and the modern SUBSISTENCE economy. Not the planned, command economies of state Communism.
In fact, I have been a strong advocate AGAINST Marxian economics. I have given high school speeches and have been involved in debates with representatives of the Republican, Democratic and Libertarian parties. I live in the very conservative Placer County.
What I usually find is that most folks have been made to believe that there are only two economic choices: capitalism and socialism. I.e., market-based or planned economies. That is simply wrong. So when they hear a Green Party speaker like me talk about a mixed economy that augments the market economy, the immediately think ‘socialism.’
Subsistence economics is growing rapidly in the USA. It is not just backyard gardens. It is not a primitive anachronistic system. It is modern and TAX FREE!
The gift economy, however, is the most influential and rapidly-growing in the world today and is still not even mentioned in high school or college economics text books. Larry, odds are that the software running this web site is mostly free open-source servers such as Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL, Drupal, Sendmail, etc. Literally trillions of dollars worth of free software GIFTED to the world from otherwise high paid engineers is becoming indispensible capital for third world economies climbing out of abject poverty.
If you know about free software, then you know about Richard Stallman creating the Free Software Foundation and the GPL back in the 1980’s. Stallman is a long-time supporter and adovate of the Green Party.
The Green parties in Europe are better developed. They have been successful in keeping software patents out of the EU. Most Libertarians I know applaud the contraints on over-reaching new intellectual property rights that harm competitive markets and damage our freedoms.
Larry, the Greens have more in common with the Libertarians than we do with communists, socialists or the two major parties. If you would like to know why this is so, I would be happy to write more.
Steve Loebs.
Thank you for your comments. As stated above I do keep and open mind and look forward to the debate.
for those not familiar with Steve the following data was written by him last year. Before responding I wanted to check him out and discovered that he has his own blog.

While it is off topic the content which follows was of interest to me so I post it below:
Let’s dig a little deeper. Those in the financial planning business will tell you that the greatest component of baby boomer savings is the owner’s equity in their homes. It should be obvious that with that huge population bulge now beginning to enter the retirement phase of life that if real estate values collapse, then America will experience an economic calamity like no other in our history.
According to the Federal Reserve the market value of all owner-occupied residential real estate in the US is just under $21 trillion. (Since rented units are not included, the number for the entire residential real estate market is likely closer to about $30 trillion.) The Fed also reports that the owner’s equity of the owner-occupied US residential real estate equals just a little more than 50% of the market value. That is $10.6 trillion.
If the market value of the owner-occupied US residential real estate were to lose 50% of its value, most of the $10.6 trillion of NOMINAL wealth would disappear. How likely is it that residential real estate values could drop by 50%? That is the key question!
Gilbert comment. So while we worry about our 401K shrinkage, and while the housing market is cyclic, we have taken a major financial hit that may take a decade to recover if we can hang on.
