“Assemblyman Van Tran, R-Westminster, is practically getting the flowers-and-champagne treatment from Washington politicos who want the popular Vietnamese-American official to challenge Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove. This story at Politico.com says that Sen. John McCain, House Minority Leader John Boehner and Minority Whip Eric Cantor have all asked Tran to throw his hat in the ring for the 2010 race,” according to Martin Wisckol over at the O.C. Register’s Total Buzz blog.
Are you kidding me? Tran is the best the GOP can do? This guy is as corrupt as the night is long! Have you all forgotten that his wife was indicted for fraud? This loser almost lost to the unknown Democrat Ken Arnold last year! ROFLMAO!
And if you look at Tran’s Assembly District, you will see that it does not overlap Sanchez’ congressional district much at all.
Go ahead Tran – run. it will be high comedy chronicling the extent to which you will attack Mexicans while going after Sanchez. And in the end she will kick your butt just liked she trashed Rosie Avila last year.
Give it a break Doctor!! what the heck has Ms, Sanchez done!! She is a walking Hack and so is Tran!!
Uhhhh, Art, Rosie Avila was a nutcase with no support within the Party and no campaign at all.
Van Tran will be coming straight at Loretta with the complete backing of the RNC and Washington DC leadership. She’s never had a serious, normal, well-qualifed candidate until now. It’s obvious you don’t like Van but that doesn’t change the fact he knows how to campaign and has a decent local voting record to run on.
Van will be able to pull together the local GOP and local elected leaders as well and that spells big trouble for Loretta. I predict a handy victory by Van Tran in this one by at least 8% or more. Loretta’s time has come…
Crystal Ball,
You mean that the clever Republicans who got McCain elected President are now going to get Van Tran elected to Congress? Oh wait, McCain lost, didn’t he?
Maybe the smart guys who held on to both houses of Congress are going to put Tran over the top? Oh wait, they lost both houses to the Democrats, didn’t they?
Give me a break. The Republicans are a dying party and Tran is their last gasp. Latinos will turn out just to vote against him!
I predict Tran won’t get more than 40% of the vote. And at last he will be finished in politics. Thank God for that!
Viet’s vote and Latinos don’t.
Art. Sorry that I didn’t check to see if there was another post on the Register report of thiis challenge.
As an observer during the First District vote recount and later speaking before the BOS on that tight election, I made a statement that may still apply today. Janet won by less than 10 votes while around 150,000 registered voters stayed home in that election. How many of those MIA’s live in Santa Ana? The voter turnout was 22.4% of the 205,459 registered voters.
Someone has got to do a better job in getting out the vote.
Of course Van Tran can win : > )
