What: In the nationwide effort for working people to bargain for better wages, benefits and working conditions, Orange County Workers will be holding a Round Table with Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez on the Employee Free Choice Act. The Employee Free Choice Act, introduced on March 10, 2009, by Senator Tom Harken (D-IA) and Representative George Miller (D-CA) would level the playing field for workers to bargain
for better wages and benefits, form unions, and thus restore the middle class. Under current laws, the rights of workers are protected, yet CEOs continue to harass and fire workers wanting to form unions with no real consequences. The Employee Free Choice Act would stiffen penalties to those employers who commit such acts to their workers. Orange County workers are calling for change in current labor practices. The time has
come for workers to have a voice, be a part of the decision making, and improve their lives.
