State Senator Lou Correa backs use of Matricular Consular cards

“Mexican citizens living in California could use a controversial identification card issued by the Mexican government for business transactions under legislation introduced by Orange County State Sen. Lou Correa,” according to the O.C. Register.

“The Santa Ana Democrat’s proposal, Senate Bill 461, would allow notaries in California to accept Matricula Consular cards as valid identification for executing property transfers and other official transactions.”

Wow.  This is another brave move by Correa.  And it is a welcome one. In these troubled times it can only help to give folks more financial options.

I can only hope that President Barack Obama will also push for another Amnesty.  That would allow thousands of people to come out of the shadows so they could become taxpayers and start moving up the socio-economic ladder.  This influx of new citizens might save the Ponzi scheme that is Social Security, at least for a few more years.

Here is how Correa put it, “These are difficult economic times. We’re going to make decisions, we’re going to do things we would not normally do, for the sake of keeping jobs.”

You sure don’t see that kind of leadership from the O.C. Republican legislators, state or federal.  And consider that Supervisor Janet Nguyen’s big news today was the $170,000 that she spent on the construction of clay tennis courts for Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, over at Cabrillo Park.

Correa stands with the people – God only knows what his Republican counterparts stand for, if anything.
