Just when you thought all the controversy about the next Senator from New York was over….wham…..Caroline Kennedy quits! Will it be Andrew Cuomo? Could it be Mayor Michael Bloomberg? Good grief……what a mess!
As Hillary gets approved as Secretary of State…..the Governor of New York awaits….the right moment to announce Caroline at the new junior Senator! Suddenly, Caroline withdraws. Why? Too much personal time away from her family? Too much invasive questioning? Maybe, just the reality that even a Senator has a tough time making a difference in our society.
Whatever happens…this lotto will yeild an important tag to the election of President Barack Obama. He couldn’t get his choice for Senator in his home state of Illinois……but can he get his choice in New York? Time will tell……but whoever makes the cut……it will be power personified.
Let us hope that Caroline decided that “her family life” was always going to be more important than public office. She can write one letter that could change our entire nation….she doesn’t need to be Senator. Yet, if she decides later…..that things have changed….perhaps she will alter her viewpoint and make the committment!
Whatever Caroline decides to do…..we wish her well and are very sorry we won’t be able to see her walk the halls of power as the Junior Senator from the great State of New York! Perhaps, just the thought of having a voting record that could be followed by others ….set a chill on the landscape!

I’m betting that this has more to do with the Governorship of New York. Cuomo is the logical Dem nominee for Gov next time. The Gov makes the appointment so what the Gov wants the Gov gets and Senator Cuomo has to sound better to the sitting Gov than Gov. Cuomo does. My guess that “withdrawing her name from nomination” is code for the Gov doesn’t want to appoint me.
