Here I thought that Irvine was such a safe place to live, but a former Santa Ana Unified School District cop named Kendall Scott Poole, who lives there, pleaded guilty this week “to possessing more than 9,000 images of child pornography in his home,” according to the O.C. Register.
Poole was working for the SAUSD when he was arrested, back in March of 2007, according to the L.A. Times. At the time the SAUSD described Poole as a “school police sergeant” employed by the district for seven years, most recently as a night supervisor at the district office. His arrest, the statement said, was for alleged “misconduct in his personal life.” Of course the SAUSD never admitted that he was busted for kiddie porn.
The SAUSD in fact assured parents, teachers and staff that Poole’s arrest had “no effect on the safety of students.” Really? I wonder if any SAUSD students are amongst those 9,000 pictures?
Why am I not surprised? Our readers have commented for years that the SAUSD school cops are washouts and rejects. I am sure some of them are decent officers, but this episode underscores the gravity of the problem. How do you hire a guy as a school cop when he is a pervy bastard? Maybe these guys should be taking lie detector tests when they get hired?
UPDATE:
I heard from several of my pajaritos today regarding this story. Apparently the Register blew this story. Poole not only was employed by the SAUSD when he got busted, he was in fact also not working at night, except when there were board meetings.
In fact, when Poole was first arrested, the Register reported it this way, “Santa Ana school seargeant arrested.” And now they are referring to him as a “former employee” of the SAUSD. What’s up with that?
It also turns out that Poole spent many years before he came to the SAUSD as a City of Santa Ana Park Ranger. No telling how many pictures he took while he was in our parks, but the opportunity was certainly there.
I am also told that Poole did take a battery of psych tests when he was hired by the SAUSD. He passed them all, proving that their test don’t work.
Shouldn’t the SAUSD at least let parents know what happened, and distribute his picture? We need to know if he took pictures of any kids registered in the SAUSD. These kids might need therapy, but aren’t likely to get it if their parents never find out what happened.
Finally, I am told that the departed Miyashiro hired this guy. That figures.
“Here I thought that Irvine was such a safe place to live”
Beauty is only skin-deep…
Irvine is just like any other place. This became clear to me a couple of years back, when the daughter of then mayor Christina Shea was arrested for drug possession, right in front of the Irvine City Hall, as I’ve been told at that time.
This became a bigger issue when Mayor Shea tried to get the Irvine PD to drop the case.
Her rambling voicemails were made public:

Joe,
I recall that story. I think it has held Shea back.
The Republicans in Irvine have experienced a lot of futility trying to take out Agran and company.
Imagine how upset they will be if Agran or Krom pick up DeVore’s seat…
Art, there are perv’s in every profession and every type of law enforcement. There have been officers with perfect backgrounds, passed psych and polygraphs tests, that turned out to be rapists. SAPD caught one of their own years ago involved in picking up prostitutes on duty.
There is just no way to filter out the psychos and pervs, they live in every neighborhood and work in every profession.
Anon #3
I agree with you completely. There is just no way to know. But you might add that SAPD also had a field supervisor caught twice with transvestites, one supervisor caught stealing electricity from his home in Anaheim by bypassing the meter, and another officer caught in a protection scam in LA’s little Korea district. No profession is perfect and SAPD has had its problems as have all police departments.
The point Art is making, and I agree with, is that when you start with dirty cops you have the potential for much worse. SAPD didn’t start out hiring dirty cops I assume. SAUSD appears to have. I would not try to compare apples and oranges.
I suppose you might want to clarify “dirty cop”. Is this a cop who has been convicted of a crime?
Anonzzzz
Yep he has. Felony. Charged with 3 counts reduced to 1. And all the cops I mentioned in post #4 are convicted too. Any more stupid questions?
It wasn’t a stupid question and you don’t have to be such a jerk. I was referring to your comment that SAPD didn’t start out hiring “dirty cops” and that SAUSD did. Poole wasn’t convicted of anything before he was hired, nor has anyone else at SAUSD. Learn how to articulate yourself and maybe people won’t ask stupid questions.
I am shocked at his confession. Poole was a capable and concerned School Police officer when he drove me to a hospital after a work related injury. I thought he was framed.
No, he was not framed. I’m the stepmother of the girl he is married to; and believe me when I tell you he was not framed. He is a pervert, he married a girl half is age. He download pictures of little boys. How much sense does that make. His own wife turned him in. We had to drive down and pick her up the day he got arrested.
This one is for Anonymous Too
If you just outed yourself as Poole’s Mother-in-Law (step or not), then you failed to see the importance of being anonymous.
If you just outed yourself as being Anonymous Too, then you failed to see the importance of being Poole’s Mother-in-Law (step or not).
And since I have both of those bases covered, I will expose you for the fraud you are.
1) Poole’s mother-in-law would not begin to lower herself to the basal rantings of a website. In fact, most people would be trying to solidify their families outside of the media spotlight.
2) Poole’s real mother-in-law would (if that venomous toward the man that married a woman half his age) would have posted that rant not online, but in the larger local papers, and this would only be to spread the hate of her son-in-law.
