There were a couple of interesting developments at the Santa Ana Planning Commission last night. Developer Robert Bisno’s proposed luxury condo tower was approved. But the fight is not over – we can now appeal to the Santa Ana City Council. And the Planning Commission changed the laws regarding massage parlors. I think they will be able to open up now in our city, with a CUP.
I will get more details on the massage parlor ordinance later on this week.
As for the tower, it was opposed by Councilwoman Michele Martinez’ commissioner, Patrick Yrarrazaval. New commissioner Mario Turner abstained. The rest of the commissioners voted yes, despite traffic concerns that Bisno’s own hack acknowledged.
I could not be there last night, due to a trip I had to undertake. However I plan to appeal the tower decision to the City Council. Frankly, I don’t see this tower ever being built. I think Bisno is trying to sell the land.
That’s what I’m talking about Art! Exactly what I was looking for thank you thank you!
“Frankly, I don’t see this tower ever being built. I think Bisno is trying to sell the land.”
He may not plan on building it himself. Without the entitlements the land is only good as land. I wonder if he even owns the “land.”
Would that be a victory for private property rights?

Art – If the tower is approved someone could build it.
What’s the update on 1 Broadway Plaza?
I got this in a email today

Santa Ana Land to Be Part of Mixed-Use Development
LPC Acquires 6 Acres from Bisno Development
Lincoln Property Co. purchased the six-acre parcel at the corner of North Main Street and East Memory Lane in Santa Ana, CA, from Bisno Development for an undisclosed amount.
The land will be a portion of City Place, a proposed 18-acre mixed-use project. The project will have a total of 242 live-work town homes and 60,000 square feet of retail space.
The buyer and the seller received in-house representation.

cook,
Do you think that deal could be contingent on SA City Council approval of the 31 story tower in City Place?
I don’t know, but it reads as a done deal.
