In the blogosphere no blogger ever really goes away forever. Our former blogger Thomas Gordon, for example, first quit us to go to the now listing “Centrist OC.” And now he has popped up over at Red County, which is I think an even better fit for him. Now Gordon can be a partisan Republican without worrying about offending his readers.
Then again, his first Red County post is one for the ages. He wrote, “…in my humble opinion, it’s time to give Carlos Bustamante the opportunity to lead the city into a new era of prosperity and growth. As Santa Ana’s only elected Republican, Carlos Bustamante should insist on smaller government, lower taxes and less burden on businesses. If the Council elects Carlos Bustamante Mayor Pro-Tem, maybe “for the time being” Santa Ana would have a real chance at being Downtown Orange County.”
How soon we forget! The last time Bustamante was appointed Mayor Pro Tem of the Santa Ana City Council, it was because Mayor Miguel Pulido wanted to give him a title to use in his campaign for the First Supervisorial District. After Bustamante lost that race, to Janet Nguyen, Pulido and company took away his title and gave it to Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez.
Now why would Team Pulido take away Bustamante’s title just because he got his teeth kicked in by Nguyen? Well, the one time that Bustamante actually had to run a Council meeting, because Pulido left early, was an abject disaster (click here to read that story). Bustamante got so frustrated and did such a poor job that Alvarez had to step in to run the meeting! Does anyone really think that Bustamante has, since that comedic episode, suddenly developed a clue?
Let’s take a look at what Bustamante has in fact accomplished. Fortunately I already wrote that post awhile ago. Click here to read “Who is Carlos Bustamante.” You will find more background on the “Space Commander” at this link.
The fact is, Bustamante is a complete joke. He isn’t even very good at being a Republican, although I would concede that he is VERY good at being a “Bush” Republican. You know, the kind that is fiscally irresponsible and completely useless.
Gordon’s promotion of the truly vacuous Bustamante was so ridiculous that one of the Red County readers asked Gordon if he was kidding, and check out his reply, “Kidding how? It’s high time we get some conservative ideals into play up at Santa Ana City Hall. Bustamante should cut the bloated government, slash wasteful spending, cut red tape, taxes and fees and promote Santa Ana as a safe, profitable place to do business.”
Here’s the problem Gordon, Bustamante voted for all of that wasteful spending! Have you forgotten those ridiculous widescreen T.V.’s that Bustamante compelled the City to blow hundreds of thousands on? And now you want him to be the guy in charge of cutting the waste? Good grief! What a stupid concept.
As usual, NorthCountyStorm popped up with a good closing comment, “The last time Mr. Bustamante’s presided over the City Council his colleague Claudia Alvarez confused him and beat him up so bad they should have stopped the proceedings under a mercy rule. If that performance is any indication of what we could expect if he’s given the gavel again, I hope the Council listens to Thomas, at least “for the time being.”
I agree! By all means I hope Team Pulido DOES make Bustamante the next Mayor Pro Tem! I will have great fun writing about the ensuing comedy…

Art: Can you post all the articles in which Thomas blasted Busty?
Gustavo,
Would that I could, but when Thomas and Sarah ran off on their ill-fated “Centrist” excursion, Sarah took all his posts. She has since sent me the data file, but I have no clue what to do with it. So all we have left of Gordon is our memories…and as I recall he was no fan of Busty. Thus Gordon’s conversion is quite a site to behold!
One has to wonder if Gordon was always a “Usual Suspect” plant…regardless it is quite laughable to see him canoodling with Busty now!
Well, there is always his masterpiece – the portrait of Aloha.
Art, knowing that reading comprehension isn’t your strong point, try reading Thomas’ post again. He doesn’t “promote” Bustamante. Nor does he claim Carlos is a conservative stalwart.
Thomas is asking Carlos be given the opportunity to as Mayor Pro Tem to practice what Republicans preach.
Do you disagree with Thomas’s call for Bustamante to “insist on smaller government, lower taxes and less burden on businesses.”?
Or is it simply the absence of viciousness in Thomas’ post you object to?
Matt/Jubal,
I would say I object to the “absence of common sense” in his post. You don’t ask Bustamante, who is a serial offender when it comes to being a horrible Councilman and a waster of public money, to try to be fiscally conservative. It simply isn’t possible! What a hoot…
It’s just strange, counter-intuitive, to assume that Carlos would suddenly start espousing “conservative” ideals just because he’s a Republican, when he has a record that indicates otherwise.
Art, I guess that is your way of conceding the point of my comment.
Perhaps asking Bustamante to practice GOP principles would be like asking you to not be a vicious purveyor of half-truths and baseless speculation.
Matt keeps repeating that Art says half-truths and baseless accusations but never points to any examples…
Ha,HA,H,HAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!”Buty”conservative???????. He even voted to INCREASE water rates in Santa Ana!,and also was his idea to expend tax payers money by buying X# TV’s that are good for nothing. Now we can conclude who did Thomas Gordon vote for in city council}podrido and his experienced team!. Ha, Ha, Ha….usual suspect”gordon”. I new that long time ago.
Matt keeps repeating that Art says half-truths and baseless accusations but never points to any examples…
Matt can’t help it. He comes from a camp of mindless drones, “Terrorist!” “Marxist!” “Communist!” “Socialist!”
You’ve seen his like-minded friends in those KKK-like Palin/McCain rallys full of the screechers. Please don’t ask them to define those names or back up their accusations and claims. That’s not how they operate.
Hey Matt, is Sarah Palin the new fresh face of the GOP going forward?
Red Vixen says: “.. KKK-like Palin/McCain rallys ..”
Whoa – not nice!! A little heavy handed there Vix.
Kind of like like calling the Obamaites “Jim Jones kool aid drinkers.”

To bad the name the Liberal OC is taken, this blog seems more and more like it every day.
What’s so liberal, Em, about us laughing at the idea that Busty is a conservative?
Matt keeps repeating that Art says half-truths and baseless accusations but never points to any examples…
I’d have to take a week off from work to collate them all.
But I’ll give you a recent example: Art states, as fact, that Phil Martinez lost to Steve Rocco in the 2004 OUSD trustee race because OUSD voters are anti-Mexican.
As for Red Vixen: that comment is a classic example of projection.
Matt/Jubal,
I assume you have some proof that they aren’t?
“She has since sent me the data file, but I have no clue what to do with it.”
Probably a database dump. Assuming that the db is MySQL, the de-facto default Open Source db, this is just a bunch of database SQL statements. Pretty easy to extract what you want. Any reasonably qualified geek can do that…
Mr. Jubal: “As for Red Vixen: that comment is a classic example of projection.”
Wow, I had no idea that you are qualified as a psychotherapist. Or was that some kind of round house, ninja posting tactic you employed?
What exactly are you saying? That I am projecting myself as the new face of the GOP?
Or that the Palin-frenzied McCain Rally audience members shouting “kill him!” and “he’s an ARAB” is something that I subscribe to? I don’t.
Oh, oops…. I am asking direct questions. No legitimate answer is to be expected from you, Mr. Jubal.
Let’s see what right upper-cut posting distraction you throw this time instead of backing up your silly psycho-babble accusation.
Okay Junior,
I watched your video b/c I know you’ve watched stuff I have posted and I appreciate that kind of effort and will return it in kind. The main problem I have with these tie-in type videos is that they seek to just worry and scare people with pretending that, in this case, Jim Jones and Barack Obama are one in the same. It just won’t work, any better than saying that Barack Obama is the same as Hitler or that George Bush is the same as Stalin.
For the viewer to make that leap, s/he would have to suspend all critical thinking skills and just revert to being SCARED. So Scared, that s/he just could not think, with all that scary music blasting in the background and all those troubling images set to the scary music.
It just doesn’t work for me. I just don’t get all fired up. In fact I just shake my head at the cheezy patchwork of images and the message of fear that, apparently, some people think are legitimate.
These overly-negative propaganda attempts are old fashioned and are getting so stale, that they are approaching the level of boorish insult. But I do appreciate your sharing – I don’t think I would have bothered to even look, if YOU had not been the one to post it. I did it for you 😉
Halloween is over, junior. Let’s put the scary stuff away for now. Please look over the teams that Barack Obama is assembling. It’s okay to join the 21st Century, even if we are all going to have to work particularly hard to get back onto the right track.
Red Vixen,
Funny thing, I agree with the sentiment of your comment.
Further, I believe that it would be appropriate for you to examine your comparison of the KKK to McCain/Palin rallies in that light. In my opinion that comparison falls short of the standards which you express.
Funny thing, I agree with the sentiment of your comment.
Apparently we have some common ground. Or is it our sharing of common sense? Whatever….
😉

You got me here, junior. I have to admit I have never been to a Klan rally. I have seen some news snips and I have seen portions of documentaries about them. But, you’re right, a Klan rally is not my particular area of expertise.
However, what I saw in Youtube videos at the McCain/Palin rallys was pretty damned shocking and unfamiliar. Lots of racist signs and hate speech shouted out, even by people who were old enough to be holding grandkids in their arms while they shouted ugly things. I saw riled up groups, and frankly I was ashamed for them and their hate.
I don’t know of any other group that took racial hate speech to that level, save for Klan rallys. Maybe you can think of some other group that comes close.
I know it wasn’t pervasive at ALL the Mc/Palin rallys, but it was disturbing at a number of them. And try as I may, I simply couldn’t find anything close to that disturbing at any of the Obama Rallys. And belive me, junior, I did look. Youtube is a wonderful thing for recording history in the making!
I assume you have some proof that they aren’t?
I assume you are joking, since any intelligent, knowledgeable person knows the absence of evidence doesn’t constitute proof.
But wait! I forgot we’re in the Pedrozasphere, where the rules of logic are suspended!
Vixen:
Sorry for talking over your head. My point is your comment was an example of exactly what you (falsely) accuse me.
Art,
Can you tell us where ANYTHING in this comment from Red Vixen has ANYTHING to do with the subject of this post? In other words, why weren’t you consistent and edit this out for not being “germane” to the content of the original post?
“Matt can’t help it. He comes from a camp of mindless drones, “Terrorist!” “Marxist!” “Communist!” “Socialist!”

Hey Matt, is Sarah Palin the new fresh face of the GOP going forward?”
Matt/Jubal,
Oh there is plenty of evidence to support my theory. Consider this year’s OUSD school board election results. Arianna Barrios was ten times as qualified as her opponent, retired fireman Mark Wayland, and she was not a Democrat – she was a DTS. She was in fact supported by many prominent Republicans. But the voters went with the white guy. Why is that Matt?
Vern as I am not a blogger on the Juice I chose to post that comment under this article because I just wanted to say it. I should have actually posted it under the ridiculous Jeb Bush article.
Oh there is plenty of evidence to support my theory.
Why do you make it so easy to demolsih your arguments, Art?
First — once again – you need to provide evidence to support your assertion. It’s goes against reason and logic to say that what you say is true if no one provides evidence to the contrary. As they say in the law, you (routinely) assume facts not in evidence.
Second, the results in this year’s OUSD election were surprising. I supported Arianna, but ballot titles carry a lot of weight in these down-ticket races, and Wayland’s “retired firefighter/Marine” was pretty potent.
Third, there are currently two Latinos on the OUSD Board of Trustees, who have been elected multiple times against white candidates. For example, John Ortega walloped a guy named john Campbell during the 2001 recall election.
Furthermore, there have been Latino OUSD trustees for years.
Again, I’m sorry to have to pester you with facts that interfere with your weird ethnocentric fantasies.
Art said: “But the voters went with the white guy. Why is that Matt?”
Art – For the same reason Santa Ana voters always go with the BROWN guy. EVERYBODY is racist Art – get over it!!
Complaints like yours go under the thread of “It’s Baby’s Pizza!”
That’s the cry baby thread.
#29 other people comments get deleted for just that same reason so take your cry baby thread and stuff it.
