The last time there was a “Dictator in Perpetuity” was in 44 BC.  Julius Caesar got that job and on the Ides of March – March 15th, 44 BC…paid the price for inflated hubris and ego driven power!  Why Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York – is now leaping up to bid; is fascinating.

Michael Bloomberg is of course the very rich, egomaniacal, self directed individual with an opinion – that rules do not apply to him.  His list of very wonderful fascist edicts include: No smoking in the City of New York,  charging highly inflated rates for tolls on all bridges, attempting to use “Congestion Pricing” throughout the City and more and more and more.  Bloomberg surely has no qualms about implementing “Martial Law” anytime…whenever he feels so threatened.  OK….so we are purely bugged by petty, overly wealthy, overly pushy political – social tyrants.  There is little doubt that Bloomberg is no Rudy G!  But having said all that….his final insult to the people of these United States was recently doing an end run around the NYC City Term Limits Law! 

Pushing the political buttons of the majority on the New York City Council – Bloomberg forced them to pass an Addendum to the law so that he could run for a Third Term.  We guess the NYC “Robespierre” wants to be another FDR.  Our question of course…is:  What does he want to do as “Mayor of NYC” that he could not accomplish as the past Mayor?  Why does he have a very tough time anointing his successor?  What does he need “the title”?

What’s most egregious is what Bloomberg’s action imply to the younger generation across this nation.  This is purely the last throws of the “Gordon Geeko – Greed and Power is Good” Generation!  These people need to go away.  If the current Presidential election has taught us anything – McCain -Palin proved that “Mean and Nasty” are out!  How NYC missed this message is beyond us. 

So, what could the future Bloomberg agenda include?  Well, probably he will want to ban all auto traffic in the city.  Secondly, he might want to rename a few things…like the “Empire State Building” to “The Bloomberg State Building”.  From “Central Park”….to “Bloomberg Gardens”!  From “Yankee Stadium” to “Bloomberg Stadium!”  From “Madison Square Garden” to “The Bloomberg Circle”!   Or from “Long Island” to “Bloomberg Island”?  Who knows what else may be in the future?  Eminent Domain perhaps?

Our prayer is that the people of NYC….figure out that this person is not going to be working in their best interest and this person need not be the reincarnation of “Boss Tweed”!  We pray that NYC voters figure this one out before the next election!
