Protestors of Proposition 8 in California (the marriage amendment) shoved aside a 69-year-old woman who was bearing a cross. They reportedly spit on her and stomped on her cross. They then aligned themselves in a human barricade, blocking the media from getting to or interviewing the woman.
Prop. 8 supporter Jose Nunez, 37, was assaulted brutally while distributing yard signs to other supporters after church services at the St. Stanislaus Parish in Modesto.
Calvary Chapel Chino Hills was spray painted by vandals after they learned that the church served as an official collection point for Prop. 8 petitions.
Letters containing white powder (obviously mimicking anthrax) were sent to the Salt Lake City headquarters of the Mormon church and to a temple in Los Angeles. (Thankfully, the FBI said the substance was nontoxic.)
The 25-year artistic director of the California Musical Theatre, who also happens to be a Mormon, was muscled to resign because of his $1,000 donation to the campaign to ban gay marriage in California.
A pro-homosexual, pro-anarchy organization named Bash Back marched into the middle of a church service and flung fliers and condoms to the congregants. They also hung a banner from the balcony that featured two lesbians in provocative positions at the pulpit.
And lastly, the tolerance-preaching activists also have taken their anger to the blogosphere, where posts have planted ideas ranging from burning churches to storming the citadels of government until our society is forced to overturn Prop. 8.
And on the other side of this argument, you have those who also lost in this recent election. But do we stand around and mock the “landslide” of a candidate who will receive fewer electoral votes than Bill Clinton? Do we demand that the direction of our nation cannot be determined because 20% of conservatives were stupid enough to vote for narcissistic collectivism? No. We support “our” President.
But thats because we are dealing with people who are not satisfied with equality. They will not be satisfied until everyone who justifiably disagrees with them is driven out, certified insane, or re-educated.
“Gays are fully accepted, and as a group happen to constitute one of the wealthiest in American life. Moreover, not being allowed to marry a person of the same sex is not anti-gay; it is pro-marriage as every civilization has defined it. The fact is that states like California already grant people who wish to live and love a member of the same sex virtually every right that marriage bestows except the word married.
A certain number of gay men will feel better if they can call their partner husband and some lesbians will enjoy calling their partner wife, but society as a whole is not benefitted by such a redefinition of those words. Society as a whole does not benefit by removing, as California did, the words bride and groom from marriage licenses and substituting Partner A and Partner B.
But hoping that the more radical gays and straights of the gay rights movement will ask what benefits society? before what makes some gays feel better? is useless.” _
The lifestyle nazis are on the march. Will we stand up against them? Every establishment that is targeted should be made wealthy. You should breakfast, lunch and dinner at every restaurant they picket. Buy from every business they block. Travel everywhere they want to disrupt. Make them realize that targetting someone only benefits those they wish to harm.
By the way, the truth tellers in this society have the black community on our side on this one. Gay activists who liken their demands to redefining marriage to Civil Rights haven’t a leg to stand on. African-Americans know it cheapens their historic suffering under Jim Crow.
Show them Rosa Parks is in a different MORAL UNIVERSE than protestors against Proposition 8.

Ummm… which side is the black community on? Why is the NAACP challenging prop 8 with a lawsuit? It’s religious people who are supporters of prop 8, which happens to include a large block of the african american community. Every minority, and every religion, should be afraid of what happened with prop 8. Today it was the gays who were singled out, but who is next?
Sorta like when people bomb abortion clinics, eh?
Criminal gangs. What do you expect from a sub-group, I bet if you were able to check out who is doing the damage, threats, etc., They not even be gays themselves. Just criminals using the gay flag as shelter for their criminal activities.
The back lash of these activities would be to brand gays as a whole as criminals and malcontents to gather them up into stockades, and , well you know the old story, it repeats time and again thought-out history.
And to think that these poor gay people think these non-gays are on their side, wanting them to register and brand themselves for easy identification.
Terry – I agree with everything in your post, except comparing the radical gays to nazi’s.
That is over the line. Such statements cheapen the genuine persecution and ethnic cleansing of the Holocaust suffered by the Jews.
You mean there are gay a$$holes too?
Junior: That’s exactly what Godwin’s law covers.
Any comparison with Nazis is inherently wrong since it cheapens the Holocaust.
Hence, anybody using such a comparison has lost his or her argument, no matter how valid the rest of the argument was.
If Terry wants to be taken seriously, he has to stop making comparisons to Nazis.
The blog monitor does indeed invoke Godwin’s Law and call “Reductio ad Hitlerum.”
Playing the “Nazi card” is a no-no Terry.
Every civil rights movement has had its extreme wing. You should not assign them to the mainstream gay and lesbian movement any more than you would hold the 1960’s civil rights movements responsibility for the some of the destructive acts of the Black Panthers.
Also, you seem to have privy to information that I do not have or perhaps you are stereotyping when you claim that gays are the wealthiest. Really, well this is one poor gay as are my friends.
Equality for gays must be the same as for anyone else. No separate water fountains, no separate schools, no separate CIVIL ceremonies. Marriage is just that- a civil contract- you want to make it a religious one, go to your church, I won’t follow. What you propose allows you to pick and choose what our rights will look like- identical is the only solution.
I wonder how many of these “horror stories” are true. Crowley provides no links to them. I had heard about Jose Nunez getting roughed up. Meanwhile 22-year old Moses “Teish” Cannon was shot and killed Friday night for being openly gay.
Oh, wait. This is great. I found Crowley’s source. Whom he quoted at length verbatim without crediting. Any guesses?
Why of course it’s Chuck Norris, Texas Ranger, writing on Townhall.com! Just as I expected, his article is a hysterical goulash of truth, lies, and exaggerations, all capably “fisked” at this link:
http://www.queerty.com/chuck-norris-is-so-weak-hes-terrified-by-gay-anarchy-20081118/
(Side note: My colorful party of modern musicians was mistaken at a Denton, Texas bar, for Chuck Norris’ film crew who were filming nearby that week; we got a lot of attention and free drinks from allowing that misconception to continue… but that’s a story for another day!)
What do you think, is it too much effort to click on the link above, should I copy over some of it here, or will you just believe that the stories Crowley passed along – in Chuck Norris’ own words – are about 50% true? (And that’s ASIDE FROM totally leaving out the equal or greater amount of violence coming from the anti-gay side.)
All victimology, whiney whiney rightwing victimhood, they wanna take away rights from minorities and they just sob and whine and cry “Nazis” when their victims fight back. Thanks for the laffs, it keeps us going.
So it is typical right-wing nut talk-radio falsification and distortion. Why am I not surprised?
After all, that’s what Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly, etc. have done for years. Smacks of “swift-boat” falsifications. When will the right-wing nuts learn that this doesn’t work anymore in the time of blogs?
Terry,
To say I am offended by your comparison of gay and lesbian protesters ond those supporting boycotts of establishments owned by supporters of Prop 8 to Nazis is way over the line of good taste.
Gays and lesbians were targeted by the Nazis for cleansing, as well as the Jews. Read you history.
There is no excuse for the violence that has taken place. Those commiting these crimes have no support from the vast majority of people opposing Prop 8.
Peaceful protests and boycotts are reasonable demonstrations of free speech.
Yeah, it was pretty over the top. And Vern, I should be properly admonished. When I composed this piece, I had the attribute to Chuck Norris appended. I dont know what happened. I missed that.
But that doesnt mean it isnt true. Sorry Vern. You cant brush all reality under the carpet. Its confirmed in many other sources, most with much more repute than the nightly Katie Couric broadside.
For instance: http://townhall.com/columnists/MichelleMalkin/2008/11/19/the_insane_rage_of_the_same-sex_marriage_mob
Your attempts to minimize this behavior only shows how contemptible your arguments have become. Sweep the hate under the rug, eh?
I’m not saying there’s no violence on the pro-equality side, and I’m not “sweeping it under the rug” and I haven’t condoned it. (Although even if I did, it would not reflect on my side’s arguments at all, e.g. making them “contemptible.” – how does that work?)
On the other hand, you haven’t said a word about the violence coming from the anti-gay side, from the men and women punched last week by Mormon supporters at protests to the gays killed over the years for their sexuality including the above-mentioned Moses Cannon Friday night. So I guess that makes your arguments “contemptible” somehow?
And you still imply all your stories are true. Malkin has stuff in her piece that is self-evidently absurd. Do I need to go thru every story of yours and hers and Chuck’s? No, I feel like I’m wasting my time.
There are hot tempers and rash actions on both side of this issue. But only one side is for equality and American values and will prevail eventually.

Simply posting this puts you all in a new category… hatecrimesonline.org
Why thank you Rintrah, I do like bringing hate crimes to everyones attention. I think its important too!
But is that sarcasm I detect in your words? You aren’t upset that hate crimes definitions are becoming inclusive, are you?

Rintrah,
I see hate coming from the NO side.
Will you post those on your hate crimes website?
Miami judge rules against Florida gay adoption ban
[Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman said the 31-year-old law violates equal protection rights for the children and their prospective gay parents, rejecting the state’s arguments that there is “a supposed dark cloud hovering over homes of homosexuals and their children.”
She noted that gay people are allowed to be foster parents in Florida. “There is no rational basis to prohibit gay parents from adopting,” she wrote in a 53-page ruling.
Florida is the only state with an outright ban on gay adoption. Arkansas voters last month approved a measure similar to a law in Utah that bans any unmarried straight or gay couples from adopting or fostering children. Mississippi bans gay couples, but not single gays, from adopting.]
—————–
[“I’ve never seen myself as less than anybody else,” Gill said. “We’re very grateful. Today, I’ve cried the first tears of joy in my life.”
He said the two boys have been practicing writing their new last names, and the older one said: “That’s what’s going to make us a family.”
Attorneys for the American Civil Liberties Union, who represent Gill, said the case was the first in the nation in which numerous experts in child psychology, social work and other fields testified that there is no science to justify a gay adoption ban.]
—————-
[Organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association and American Psychiatric Association all support permitting same-sex couples to adopt.
Lederman rejected all the state’s arguments soundly.
“It is clear that sexual orientation is not a predictor of a person’s ability to parent,” the judge wrote. “A child in need of love, safety and stability does not first consider the sexual orientation of his parent. The exclusion causes some children to be deprived of a permanent placement with a family that is best suited to their needs.”]
————–
[Reaction came quickly from advocates of gay, lesbian and transgender parents who have long considered Florida’s law the most draconian in the nation. Jennifer Chrisler, executive director of the Boston-based Family Equality Council, said the decision is a “long-overdue recognition of the equal ability of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to raise happy, healthy families.”
“The best interests of children should be decided by parents, families, professionals and judges, not opportunistic politicians and interest groups,” Chrisler said.
John Stemberger, chairman of a successful drive earlier this month to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in Florida, called the ruling “classic judicial activism” and predicted it would be reversed on appeal.
“Everywhere in the law where children are affected, the standard must always be what is in the best interest of the child,” said Stemberger, an attorney in Orlando. “What is stunning to me is that when it comes to dealing with gays, that standard goes out the window. Children do better with a mother and a father.” ]
