Barrios Unidos has released their “Community Alliance” slate in Santa Ana, as seen above. It is being delivered to voters in Santa Ana by members of Barrios Unidos, a local group of Latino community activists.
It’s nice to see a slate with nary a Pulido hack on it… Gracias to Barrios Unidos for the support!
Someone should let this community group know that Loretta represents the 47th district, not the 38th.
I’m still trying to figure out why they choose Cecilia Aguinaga over Irene Ibarra.
Congrats Art, Lisann & Michele! This is great news!

Seems a bit segregated, this bunch of endorsees.
What a silly slate. Desperate candidates call for desperate slates. What next? Will they all be wearing Brown Berets and march in single lines? PUHLEEEESE.
My vote is for Irene Ibarra, Rob Richardson and Jose Hernandez. Thaks Art for blogging this slate. For sure I’ll vote for Pulido.
erick: I’m thinking the same. I’ve heard through my own ‘pajaritos’ that both Aguinaga and Reyna are definately not looking very well in recent polls….
Who or what is the “Community Alliance”?
They’re a bunch of old Chicano Activists trying to resurrect their movement for Aztlan. Viva La Raza and all that other bull*&*t.
I keep hearing references to polls. Which polls and where can I see them??
Orale! Albert Castillo is at it again. Pero Albert, remember what happened with the Laborers Local 652.
I also hear that a SAUSD incumbent was seen distributing voting flyers at the Santa Ana High Homecoming Game last Friday evening. If memory serves me right, this is highly illegal…..
What exactly is the concern with the Alliance and their choices?
Pulido and his supporter’s camdidate choices are all Hispanic.
Why no critisism there? Is it because they support your issues?
Hispanic community, don’t fall into their strategy of – devide and conquer.
The Labor Unions, Neighborhood Assosiations, Police Union ,the Firemans Union, Developers, and so on, all have specific interests in their choices of candidates.
Why can’t the Santa Ana Community Alliance exercise their right like the other groups do of advocating and protecting the best interests of their neighborhoods?
This gourp only argues for a representative goverment for ithe city’s residents.
How is this a militant idea?
How can anyone take this group serious if they don’t know which District Congresswoman Sanchez represents? The militant background is part of the history of the members of this alliance. Let’s keep Pulido out of this, since 8 of the 9 candidates are hispanic. It’s a poor argument.
The residents of Santa Ana won’t be fooled by this group who are guilty of trying to divide and conquer the hispanic community. I am not fooled. My neighbors are not fooled. We know it is Al Amezcua behind this group and he is using them to get his daughter elected. I doubt it will work.
I hear Mike Metzler isn’t too happy with Valerie Amezcua’s new friends.
OC White Girl,
OK they have a typo. Get over it.
So what do you think the Alliance represents?
They represent advocacy for a representative government.
Explain the militancy of being an advocate for the best interests of your neighborhood. Is this not what COMLINK does. They do the same as the Santa Ana Neighborhood Alliance..
Should people be concerned with COMLINK being militant too?
The Santa Ana Neighborhood Alliance is interest and succeeding in organizing and uniting the Hispanic Community in Santa Ana.
This is what has you concerned and frightened. Your concern is not that they are dividing the community. Division is what you want.
Al Amezcua is not involved with the Alliance at any level.
The previous concern was that the Alliance slate had all Hispanic Candidates.
Pulidos’s slate is all Hispanic too. So why criticize only one for having identical # of Hispanic Candidates?
The answer is that Pulido’s slate will look after your best interest. That is ok, as it is ok for the Alliance to back their group of candidates.
The term for the above is DEMOCRACY.
I doubt that Mike Metzler is interested in your divisive agenda.
Sure Al isn’t involved with the the alliance. Uh Huh. Com Link is not militant and their members do not have a history as such. Good luck to your group on November 4.
OC white girl,
I am positive that Al Amezcua is not involved with the Alliance.
You don’t know that the Alliance members are militant or not. You can’t prove it.
This group is going about doing their work in an intelligent, planned, strategic and passive manner. This is hardly militant in action.
You and your friends are SO caught up in the past actions and experiences of those you don’t care about.
The Alliance is not interested in participating in petty behavior like yours.
They are interested makinhg Santa Ana the beautiful and successful city that it should be.
The militant label lie is just your attempt to discredit this group.
In any case the militant lie is irrelevant. Their message is not militant, that is the important and relevant point.
Who cares about the Barrio Alliance? I doubt they’ll make much of an impact.
SAHS ALUMNI,
You care. You have taken the time to demean them because you know they have a significant impact.
If you really thought they were irrelevant you would of had no interest in commenting.
Team Pulido knows their influence in the grass roots arena.
They tried to recruit their support.
