Alas, Red County could not hang on to the top spot this week. The Orange Juice is back on top of the rankings – and it’s not close! We scooped the entire O.C. blogosphere and the MSM this week with our coverage of the DPOC’s endorsements – and the big news that Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido failed to get the DPOC’s endorsement. And we were the first O.C. blog to reveal that John McCain had picked Sarah Palin as his runningmate. That might explain our big numbers this week.
Here are the latest Orange County political blog rankings, according to the globally recognized website readership data company, Alexa.com, which is owned and managed by Amazon.com:
- The Orange Juice Blog – Global Ranking: 169,261
- Red County – Global Ranking:308,260
- Flash Report – Global Ranking:402,376
- The Liberal OC – Global Ranking: 473,638
- John Seiler’s Blog – Global Ranking: 536,452
- Bolsavik – Global Ranking:575,813
- The Centrist OC – Global Ranking: 906,391
- Irvine Tattler – Global Ranking: 1,902,042
- La Naranja – Global Ranking:2,232,214
- Powder Blue Report – Global Ranking:2,436,198
- Dissent the Blog – Global Ranking:3,773,893
- Greater Orange News Report – Global Ranking: 4,272,596
The local red-faced blogs, Red County and Flash Report, are holding their own this week, with the Liberal OC coming in at the fourth spot. While the blue folks at the Liberal OC did a fine job of covering the Denver Democratic National Convention, they failed to provide any coverage of the DPOC’s endorsements. No bueno!
Bolsavik slipped a bit too, while John Seiler’s blog continues to pick up steam, rounding out our top five. Keep an eye on our Spanish language counterpart, La Naranja. They have vaulted past several blogs that have been around for a long time.

congrats
the spread is not even close
imagine if Jubalito/y los amigos idiotos posted only the orange county piece of the cara roja communidad—-the spread would be even greater
The Centrist OC (my articles from OJ): #874,626, which puts it just below Bolsavik. Just FYI. 😛
Oh, and we were also the first blog to report that Biden would become Obama’s running mate AND many found us while searching for live coverage of the DNC which they found on CNN Live through our site.

Sarah.
Sorry! I just added your blog to the rankings. We use the weekly rankings so your blog is at 906,391, which is awesome growth! Well done…
LOL. I had a feeling we’d see the BNN Rankings button disappear.
#4,
That was not my decision. I have a feeling that Sarah got tired of seeing the Liberal OC ranked ahead of us even though we absolutely trounce them every week according to Sitemeter.
Consider this week’s Sitemeter data:
Orange Juice Visits: 7,120
Liberal OC Visits: 4,875
Orange Juice Page Views: 19,659
Liberal OC Page Views: 8,742
And yet BNN ranked the Liberal OC #2 this week while they ranked us #4. How in the world is that possible? Look at the numbers above – they are not close. Not even remotely!
I can’t blame Sarah for removing their link. They clearly are flawed and don’t deserve to be rewarded with a prime spot on our blog. Until BNN stops playing games with their rankings I have a feeling their link won’t be coming back to the Orange Juice.
Art, again, you’re dissing the ranking on BNN titled “Most Influence” by using just visits and page views, which doesn’t necessarily translate to “influence”. THAT’s how in the world you could be lower than Liberal OC.
#6,
I KNEW you would say that! However you CAN’T be influential if NO ONE is reading your blog!
The Liberal OC had a chance to be VERY influential this week – but they did not report on the DPOC endorsements nor did they report on Paul Lucas week. Sure, they covered the heck out of the Denver convention – but CNN does that better.
I really was hoping that the LOC would write about the DPOC endorsements. I was very disappointed when they took a pass on that…don’t their readers deserve to know that the DPOC did not endorse Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido?
This is why the Orange Juice is the #1 political blog in Orange County…

The key question here, boys and girls, is how does one quantifiably and accurately measure “influence”?
For the answer to that question, we have experts in influence measurement. They are (and not in the order of influence gathering or dissemination):
Carlitos “Busty” Bustamante of the Santa Ana City Council;
Matty “Jubalito la Mentirosa” Cunningham of the “Condado Rojo de Cara” blog site and nominee for a 2008 Golden Busty Award (in the categories of political hack of the year and pig at the trough)
They are both acknowledged experts in the subject area of issues of good government and ethical behavior of public officials.
I am sure that they will chime in with their thoughts here on the Juice after Carlitos takes his water bra off (he hasnt figured out the clasp) and Jabalito finishes building sand castles in his sand box.

You are correct sir.

And yet in television and radio, influence is determined by viewers and listeners: raw numbers. The BNN formula seems more arbitrary week after week. Do you really think that BNN knows more about ratings than Nielsen or Arbitron? I don’t think so.

exactly
Sorry to break up this little mutual admiration society. I thought you guys might enjoy this article:

LOL. What a baby.
Matt/Jubal,
“Scott Graves says his blog, Red County, fills another niche. Its content is all “original and local,” said Graves.”
Sure. If you consider email press releases to be “all original.”
As for local, you guys blew the story about the DPOC endorsements too, except for one story by Truoung Diep about Paul Lucas getting the DPOC endorsement.
In fact the Orange Juice was the ONLY blog in town that properly covered the DPOC endorsements. Now that’s local coverage!
As for local, you guys blew the story about the DPOC endorsements too,
Oh my, the mighty DPOC endorsement in city council races. I’m sure every OC politico was on the edge of their seats waiting for the news. Good job, Art. Make sure to apply for that Pulitzer.
Matt/Jubal,
If you don’t think that Pulido failing to get the DPOC endorsement was newsworthy than perhaps you don’t belong in this business.
Jubalito’s knowledge of Pulitzers is limited to the divorce proceedings several years ago.
I have to laugh. Reading the Condado de Cara Roja leaves one to conclude: why subscribe to newpapers or read newpapers on line?
I suppose that Jubalito is pretty busy these days training all the new posters on Red-Faced County to cherry pic the news articles from the local publications. After all, it certainly is a brain challenging exercise….Short on policy discussion and analysis but long on religious fanaticism and copying of news articles–I heard all about your Pelosi/communion disertation.
Only you and your faithful fanatical religious idiots would appreciate your writing let alone praise Chaput. Sorry to break the news to you, la Menirosa, but most Catholics dont pay any attention to Chaput or sycophants like you.
But we all appreciate the community service that you provide on red-faced county by copying the news articles. You give great honor to the Journalism profession.
Jubalito la Mentirosa;
I have to laugh. Not surprising that you read the National Journal. It carries a whole lot of weight amongst Centrist Republicans—NOT
BTW, I am certain that Art can help you with the definition and translation of the .50 words in the National Review that you have trouble with into Spanish as you go out and recruit potential members to join God’s Only Party given the tremendous loss of registered Republicans in California and in advancement of your rightist agenda.
