August 16th, 2008 Saddleback Church….the same Church of Rick Warren and his best seller “A Purpose Driven Life!”…will host John McCain and Barack Obama. Getting a seat will probably be a serious problem. This is like saying the Eagles will be in town for a free concert……..you might get a pretty big turnout.
So, this will be one of those spotlight moments that will give John McCain his chance to shine in his element. Community Forums! Our guess is that whatever happens the true reason for this event for both candidates is cash. They are banking on using various “highlight film” moments for future ads and for fund serious raising activities before and after the two Conventions in Denver and Minneapolis! Hopefully, local luminaries will attend…..like John Moorlach, State Senator Tom Harman and perhaps the Governor. We will just have to wait and see.
Our question is? Why does it take hundreds of millions of dollars to run for President of these United States? Pay-offs? Good grief….is there anyone in seven planets that doesn’t know that Republican Candidate John McCain is running against Democratic Candidate Barack Obama? Do we really need to see “the differences”? Isn’t everyone including Sean Hannity tired of talking about how bad Barack Obama might be and how we should feel sorry for John McCain? Can’t we just have the election now…and not have to wait for November? Maybe if everyone in the United States sent both Candidates a bunch of money…like $100 bucks….maybe we wouldn’t have to listen to all this nonsense and get along to fixing our economy and taking control of our Energy and Oil needs?
Well, sadly we will all have to just bear it……sit there and nod conspicuously at the proper times and hope upon hope….someone will break for a commercial….so we can grab a sip of our favority beverage……or grab a bite of a candy bar…..between takes!
Never mind…..maybe we can get some great Saddleback Church T-shirts or wait in line for three hours to have Rick Warren sign our copy of his latest book! This is really going to be exciting…….so, see you there in the parking lot and the tailgate party: for the BBQ’d Johnsonville Brats!
As this is primarily an event to promote Rick Warren, I doubt if there will be much substance to this or that any local or state politicians will show up.
