Have you ever considered that the taxpaying citizens of Ariz., Ill., and New York are being shortchanged?
They will lose half of their US Senate representation while John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton take a full year off to campaign for higher office.
Another thought for which I welcome your comments.
Should they continue to draw a salary from the public troth when they are chasing delegates from Florida to California and beyond? This time off is self serving. At this time they are not serving the people who put them in office. Think about it.
For the remaining Senators and prior Congressman that participated in the first phase of this marathon, when all is said and done, this is a no lose journey. Included in this group are those elected officials who will retain their seats and tenure after they drop out or are eventually defeated. This list includes Sen John Edwards, Congressman Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter, Dennis Kucinich and Tom Tancreado.
Larry, It’s called the political system.
We have been shortchanged everday Bush has been in the Whitehouse. Debt up to our eyeballs, 4,000 dead soldiers in Iraq, growth of the surveillence state.
Your supposition is bs and comes from an old playbook. Thank God people of substance are coming back to run this country!
I’m thankful those mentioned above are busy campaigning and not wreaking havoc in Washington, D.C.

Old playbook? Facts are facts. Having no sensible rebuttal you simply attack the messenger.
If you read what I wrote you would see this story applied to BOTH major parties. I was not solely selecting the Democrats.

If we shut down the senate and the house for a year and paid them their salary we would probably be far ahead. They do the most damage when they are working. Perhaps all of the courts except perhaps the criminal courts could go on a long vacation as well.
