The Law Firm of Rutan & Tucker has suddenly taken a hot interest in the Orange Juice. They have been on and off our site all day long since Thomas Gordon posted his latest story about Dana Point City Attorney Patrick Munoz, who famously gave Thomas, and the residents of Santa Ana’s Logan Neighborhood, the finger while attending a community meeting. Munoz works for Rutan & Tucker.
And just a few minutes ago I received a phone call from Doug Irving, a reporter with the O.C. Register. Looks like Doug is working on a story about Munoz. Uh-oh! I heard the L.A. Times is also looking into Munoz.
I think city attorneys ought to behave themselves in public. Giving folks the finger is a major no-no. Telling folks that we ought to “get rid off all the crummy little houses and make Logan completely industrial” is even worse! You can read Thomas’ post about Munoz statements at this link.
Looks like it is time for damage control at Rutan & Tucker.
I just heard from a city insider that working for Judy Ware will drive you CRAZY! Maybe Patricio (Nonio) Nunez couldn’t take it anymore and took it out on the Logan residents.
Art you shold see if the Trannies go on during work… If you could catch Rutan and Tucker why not the trannies
Mr. Munoz is not a good example of a well-known law firm associate who shows good character.
Looking down his nose on hispanic homeowners and business people is very judgemental and shows poor taste and even worse judgement in public.
If he remains at Rutan & Tucker, I would never consider seeking their services. The man has not apologized and if he is an accurate representation of his law firm, I’d want nothing to do with the lot of them.
I don’t live in Santa Ana, but I feel offended for the citizens there. Munoz has been the topic of conversation at several offices that I am aware of.
Munoz’s behavior is disrepectful of humanity.
Munoz’s discourse reminds me of the fledgling doctor or attorney who dumps the wife that helped put him through law or medical school.
He wants no reminders of another way of life that has become unattractive.
Shame on Munoz for his dismissive and degrading regard for the residents of Logan N/A.
Was the problem with Munoz that he said something about Logan housing that is not true, or that he said something that is sad but true that Logan residents are afraid to admit? Sometimes the truth hurts.

The truth of the matter is that Patrick Munoz showed no respect for the Logan Neighborhood nor the Industrial owners at the City meeting. Every comment he made was spewed from his mouth like venom from a snake. He was very combative and his remark about Logan homes created a collective gasp from the attendees. We were shocked speechless.
Have you even been to the Logan neighborhood? There are no “crummy” liitle shacks.
Each mans home is their castle. He has no right to throw out such negative comments. His client judy Ware was also out of line when she wanted to know why the city did not get rid of the “renters” that live at the end of the block where her company is located. Now if you want to talk about some real stink….another conversation on another day.
My family has always retained Rutan & Tucker as legal council, but since they have been silent regarding this subject,we are looking for a replacement firm. We hate to leave them, but we cannot tolerate their acceptance of Patrick’s public outbursts.
I was recently contacted by Councilman Sarmiento and asked if I could give money to him in his race for Mayor. I said gladly. Lets hope it stops the Mayor from dealing with this kind of creature.

What’s the truth-value of “F**k You”? What’s the truth-value of the middle finger? What objective truth is validated by a statement that the houses should be torn down? “Should” is a statement of opinion about possible actions, not facts. Mr. Munoz embarrassed himself in a highly subjective, poorly informed, and obnoxiously bigoted elitism. This is a great classic example of a foolish act made worse by an arrogant refusal to make it right. He’s making a significant mistake by refusing an apology to those people.
It’s pretty obvious that Patrick Munoz used fighting words.
Only a coward would not take responsibility for offending so many people he doesn’t even know by offering a simple apology.
Professionals do it all the time. If he is unable to offer even some kind of vague assurances that he came off differently than he intended, he should not be considered a trustworthy person.
He’s in it deep because of his own actions. Now it is up to him and his firm to show us what they are all about.
