Dunn is running against Supervisor Janet Nguyen

I heard from a very connected Democratic pajarito today that former State Senator Joe Dunn IS running against Supervisor Janet Nguyen this year. He has not made a formal announcement, but my source says he will be doing so before the end of the month.

What a waste of money and time this is going to be for Dunn. He is going to lose and lose big, in my opinion. If the Democrats really want to take out Nguyen, they need to recruit a Latino candidate. And I am not talking about Santa Ana Council Member Claudia “Clownia” Alvarez. When Measure D loses in February, her awful political career will be OVER. She will be as finished as Tom Umberg, last year’s great white Democratic hope in the First District.

And when Dunn loses to yet another Asian (he lost to John Chiang when he ran for State Controller), he too will be as finished as Umberg.

Dunn will NOT be supported by State Senator Lou Correa, Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez or Assemblyman Jose Solorio, according to my pajarito. So who is left? A bunch of white trial lawyers?

Too bad. I think Dunn could have beaten Santa Ana Councilman Carlos “Space Commander” Bustamante for Ward 3 on the Santa Ana City Council. Now he will just lose to Nguyen and be finished in politics. He may even lose his job with the California Medical Association before this is all over. I guess he can always go back to being a trial lawyer when this is all over.

How much did the Democratic Party of Orange County blow on Umberg’s Supervisorial race last year? And how much will they now blow on Dunn’s race? What an awful waste of money.
