Mr. Adams, Santa Ana city council members, sans Martinez, are not only confused, but struck dumb in front of the cameras. That’s why Debbie McEwen and Julie Stroud stump for Pulido; he’s too damn shy.
VOTE NO ON MEASURE D
Feb. 5
Pulido is cunning & clever & has been mayor for too long.
McEwen & Stroud’s anti-Mexican hatred clouds their comprehension when it comes to Pulido playing them. If the devil promised these two broads to rid the city of all Mexicans, they’d cozy up to El Diablo.
Kudos to you and your team for not swallowing Pulido’s punch promoting the idea that council’s work should be done off camera in an informal setting. That’s why Dana Parson’s observation, in today’s LA Times, is spot on ..
“I think the Taliban has the same philosophy.”

Let’s be clear about one thing regarding the RSP as juxtaposed to past redevelopment: NO BUSINESS WILL BE DISPLACED UNDER THE RSP.
Many businesses that are currently operating will become legal non-conforming uses which means these business cannot expand. Given the amount of dirty and heavy industry in the RSP, this is not a bad thing.
Additionally, it’s interesting that Lou didn’t have any prepared comments on the RSP. I’d venture to say it’s because he’s not that familiar with it even though he’s staking a position against it! I think Lou’s real concern is that he doesn’t want the area’s demographics to change because that would cut into his voting base. Lou is, after all, a political animal and his races are usually extremely close. He can’t afford to lose votes. Call me a pessamist and/or cynic, but I don’t trust Senator Correa’s motivations.
I think you have and are continuing to miss the point. Any sane planner would have never allowed heavy industry, e.g. iron/steel work, disposal/waste, to be mixed into a residential area. Logan, French and the now Depot Lofts are blighted by such heavy industry. Yes, the lofts are recent but Logan has stood for over 100 years as has French Park. The industrial business which are now there were allowed most likely when the city was at it’s lowest point and were in need of tax revenue. Fast forward to the current climate of limited development space and urban infill projects to response you have a need and opportunity to recapture such areas. Is it going to be painful for these businesses in the short term? Sure, but they will eventually relocate to areas where this activity is more concentrated and ultimately a better environment for them to source a more concentrated labor force and more favorable code and tax benefits. You have to look at what is best for the city long term and that’s attracting higher income individuals who will contribute to the tax revenue machine on multiple levels. It’s socio-economic Darwinism and mirrors what has already happened in most areas of Orange County and other communities which have progressed into more stratified and advanced industry with lighter tech, med and white collar employment. It’s high time Santa Ana fast forward to the 21st century and get out of the early 20th.
I think I had the best seat in the house! I was close enough to hear Debbie McEwen refer to a Mr Gr…(I did’nt quite get the entire name)as a flaming a**hole. Her response to Mr. Lomeli stating he represented the Calle 4 Business Association was to turn her head and angrily say, “thats FOURTH Street!” I believe they can call thier association whatever they choose to. Boy did she get uptight when Teo said the word Sh*t. But then again, its ok to refer to someone as a flaming a**hole! When Albert Martinez from Chicanos Unidos gave his organizations poition, she really got excited!! She turned to Julie Stroud and smacked her on the leg!!
I knew I was in for a “treat” right from the start when the first gentleman who asked, “What IS the Renaissance Plan?” and Debbie’s response was to suck her teeth and sigh. (Actually she did a lot of teeth sucking and face wincing whenever someone who did not agree with her position spoke up.) Sorry to inform you Ms Mc Ewen but not everyone is as well connected to the mayor as you and your co-horts are.
Speaking of co-horts, that will be a whole differnt post!

Have figured out that the RSP is vision document? The renderings in the RSP are one perspective of how the RSP may play out over time. The RSP is general in nature for the obvious reason that it’s up to developers, the community and other stakeholders to determine the final impact of the RSP in twenty plus years.
#7,
The RSP is a code driven development.Controlled by City government.
The plan you describe is like the Anaheim platinum triangle development. The RSP is more government controlled and less community, developer, and market driven in nature.
The code restrictions are the objection.
A simple code ordinance change for the area to retail- residence and industrial- residence- retail could result in the vision(Market driven) you describe. This code change can happen in one council vote. The general plan for the city already exists.
This eliminates government intrusion and manipulation of the future site development.
There realy is no need for a RSP as drawn up.
TS
LMAO … Debbie McEwen grimaced over someone saying shit? That’s funny since she shovels the shit all day long at the horse stables she tends.
TS
You weirdo stalker, what a pathetic creature you are. You have nothing better to do than stare at me throughout the meeting.
It is a shame though, that you would sacrifice your honor (if you have any) by lying about my responses just to get noticed on this blog.
Let me set the record straight
I did not call anybody a flaming a**hole, that was your first lie.
I did not turn and ANGRILY respond at Art Lomeli’s comment, I was laughing at him….I always do!
And as for the fellow who said “shit” I felt sorry for him. Here was a guy unacustomed to speaking in front of a crowd and he made a mistake. I thought the rest of the room overreacted, he was embarrassed enough.
BTW does your Mother know you’re a lier?

Even though everyone already knows you have trouble telling the truth when a lie is sooooo much more self serving. Do you think just this once you might come clean and tell your readers that you really didn’t speak ONE SINGLE WORD to me as I left the meeting. Please tell them you were just having another fantasy conversation. It’s so much nicer to say that, than it is to admit you’ve become a compulsive liar.
Debbie McEwen
Debbie,
Julie did dominate the conversation, such as it was. I was hardly able to get in a word either.
You did focus most of your attention on the other fellow in the hallway – I think it might have been Sam Romero.
I am not a liar Debbie. But it is true that you are a Mexican hater. Why don’t you just admit it? It is painfully obvious to everyone else in town.
Debbie,
I was not stalking nor staring at anyone, I was just merely in earshot. I didn’t even know who you were until someone mentioned your name. Because of the work I do, I am able to pick up conversations that catch my attention. And I did hear you call the gentleman a flaming a**hole, no mistake about that! I also heard Julie say she would eat worms before she would ever speak to Art P. Hmmm, I heard one of you, I’m almost sure it was you, refer to Sam Romero as the court jester. The worst comment I heard was from your gentleman friend repsonding to Julie’s comment that “these people don’t care about their children.” I believe alluding to if one doesn’t agree with the RSP, then they don’t care about the future of the city and their children. Just then Julie said “they want them to stay…(I didn’t get the word)” to which the gentleman said, “Ya, and pregnant!” This really made the both of them laugh. oh, yes, when a business owner mentioned that the RSP would affect his workers who are Santa Ana residents, one of the three of you commented, “Are they legal?”
Actually, I wanted to get up and move away from you with all your petty comments but I was just astounded that an adult would behave so childishly.
I posted this not to get noticed on this blog, I have a life much more interesting than this blog to get validation.
Well, my kids want to go to South Coast Plaza to spend their Christmas money so I will end it here.
And my mother know just who I am…an honest, caring loving mother, who cares deeply for the youth of Santa Ana.
Wishing you and all the other readers a wonderful and blessed New Year!
Debbie,
Is there a difference in human civil behaviour between angrily responding to my comments or laughing at me during my comments. I know you have a problem with the word Calle Cuatro. I am curious about what you found funny in what I said. I just presented verifiable facts.
I, nor any one else made comments or laughed at you when your were speaking to the group. You should learn better manners.
I don’t know you and have never spoken to you. I know of you and have read your posts. I disagree with you on what you have to say. I can be civil and mind my manners though. Learn to respect people, even if you disagree with them.
The guy that said s..t, meant to say it. He was angry about the RSP. The audiance reacted in affirmation. He was not embarrassed.
You admit to this behavior and then criticize TS for staring at you and making fun at what he says you said? That is hypocritical.
Art
You are a liar, this is just your most recent lie that I brought to light.
Last week it was the bald faced lie regarding how the Metzler’s party came to
be featured in the Register. That was a huge ridiculous lie that served no
purpose other than to try to embarrass them. There have been so many lies
there is no keeping track. I am certainly not the only person who has called you
on this, it’s been mentioned on your on blog countless times. And of coarse
this leads us all to the same conclusion. Just how many times have you lied?
Are any of your statements above true …..or just another lie
Debbie McEwen
#5, you make some good points, but why did the City assist a lot of those industrial businesses near the train station not too long ago if they were just going to screw them over by making them legal-non-conforming? Way to give Santa Ana a good business reputation, and I don’t expect the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce to help improve Santa Ana’s business reputation.
Debbie,
If you don’t like this blog, then don’t read it. Problem solved.
As for Metzler’s party, it does not matter how it got into the Register. The point of my post is that it was a tremendously ostentatious display of gross wealth and it was embarrassing for the Director of the Santa Ana Chamber to not use any Santa Ana based businesses at his party. He hired a caterer from Costa Mesa! Good grief. What a revolting development.
As for the truth, it is a fact that you and your friends have kept Pulido in office for over 20 years. And he is the biggest liar in Santa Ana. Just have a look at the lies he is pushing in the Measure D ballot statement. It is a real piece of work.
TS –
Your keen observation of Debbie McEwen’s disregard and dismissive attitude of those she does not agree with is spot on.
You should know that this is the gal who advocated for a neighborhood traffic plan that violated the civil rights of her neighbors; her Mexican neighbors. McEwen engaged in backroom deals with Miguel Pulido to configure a traffic plan that denied French Court residents the opportunity “to vote” on a traffic plan that impacted them. Fortunately, the ACLU took the city to court and won. The city’s policy of taking a “vote” and denying all residents the opportunity to vote is unconstitutional and the court’s decision affirmed as such. This clearly demonstrates that the city and Ms. McEwen were willing to ignore the US Constitution, the law of the land, as long as she could rig the election to provide the outcome she wanted, keep the French Court Mexicans out of French Park.
I wonder what it is that McEwen doesn’t understand about “illegal?” Oh well, the courts certainly put her and the city rightfully in their place. And she’s been pissed at the world for losing. And that’s why the RSP is so important to McEwen; the mayor is rewarding her for that traffic plan lose.
It’s no secret that Debbie McEwen is a known Mexican hater. Art Pedroza is not lying about that.
McEwen’s latest posts, lashing out at Art Pedroza, are her brand of female drama. She’s attempting to deflect the momentum building up in opposition to the RSP.
The time has come for Debbie McEwen’s brand of racism to be exposed.
It sounds like somebody is jealous of Floral Park, Wilshire Square, and Washington Square.

I watched it and have a better understanding of the business property owners concerns. (in the Logan and Lacy area) (the industrial properties)
Does anyone here remember the 70’s try to eliminate the residents of Logan and make the area completely Industrial? (late 70
Question for Gustavo —
You wrote … “In 2001, Sarmiento helped broker a deal with the city in which Festival Hall agreed to … “
Did Sarmiento broker this deal as the family attorney? If he did, doesn’t that present a problem if he is the family attorney for this property?
Thanks.
Por favor ask your question right here and I’ll answer it!
For the industrial business properties of Logan and Lacy, the zoning is not the problem. The problem is the housing. The housing that is headed in that direction.
The owners of the properties and or industries know that if decent housing come into the community then they will be pushed out over time. (As incompatible uses)
So as long as the residences of the area are kept in slum like conditions and the upwardly mobile people move to better locations and are replaced with people who don
