I reported earlier tonight that the Orange County Young Republicans (OCYRs) endorsed O.C. Supervisor Janet Nguyen for reelection. But they did not stop there. Apparently they also voted TO OPPOSE Santa Ana’s Measure D!
Measure D is absolutely useless. All it does is extend the terms of the inept Santa Ana Council Members so they can stay in office up to 12 years. Measure D is all about extending Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez’ terms so she can run again next year. No way! We have ALL had enough of Alvarez!
If you want to get involved in opposing Measure D, and retiring “Crazy Claudia” Alvarez, be sure to get involved in the Measure D Campaign Kickoff, this Saturday and Sunday, December 15-16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 415 N. Sycamore St., in Santa Ana. Coffee and pastries will be available for campaign volunteers. Learn more about the No on Measure D campaign at this link. To RSVP, click here.
“Crazy” Claudia? A straitjacket? Do you really think that mocking the mentally ill is appropriate? Would you mock cancer patients? How about those with AIDS? Shame on you!
Whether or not you appreciate Claudia’s politics, this is shameful. Mental illness brings pain and suffering to many families. It is a terrible and destructive illness.
Where is the tolerance, understanding and sensitivity that is Democratic? Shame on you.
Take this down immediately – show some respect to families and individuals that suffer this tragic illness.
Poster 1,
Hi Claudia – thanks for your feedback. I think this counts as your first online meltdown! Congratulations.
BTW, will you be showing respect to families and individuals by showing up to tonight’s vigil to commemorate the life of a young man killed by gang violence? I truly doubt it.
what a stupid reply. this isn’t Claudia and it is obvious to intend to further mock the mentally ill…
may you or yours be affected by this devestating illness then you will understand. nothing like a little reality to awaken the ignorant.
Poster 3,
You don’t know me very well. I lost my only brother to manic depression. But HE had a sense of humor. You apparently don’t.
Claudia, like yourself, is too self-important to understand humor.
BTW, I guess this means you won’t be signing up with the “Citizens Against Claudia Alvarez,” or CACA for short?
This blog’s authors’ worst fear is that if measure D fails, Claudia will be reelected. A majority of the city residents voted her into office in the last election and would likely vote for her again.
As rude and disrespectful as these people have been to Claudia, they can expect to be completely shut out of city hall (not that they are at all connected at this point) and that they will be on the wrong side of every issue and decision made during her tenure.
Claudia is a leader, and is the people’s voice right now, not the bloggers.
BTW- nice work taunting Claudia about attending a gang banger vigil. I think it’s likely that only the councilmember who was involved in a gang will show up for that one.

Welcome back Sean Mill! When can we expect your opinion as to why your best pal Sal Tinajero is a blazing idiot who faced a lawsuit over an incident in his classroom involving a child, or his treatment of the citizens of santa ana.
#6,
Sorry, but I hate to burst your bubble that was not me. Unlike you, I put my name to my postings.
The facts are that people like myself campaigned and voted for the Claudia that we knew and respected as a person who spoke from the heart and represented the people.
Bacause we needed her to help us control the Mayor and his comrades we gave unselfishly.
She has since decided that her ascention to higher office is worth more than integrity and self respect.
She now treats Mrs. Martinez with the same disrespect that she was shown for so many years by the mens club. Forming alliances that benefit only those members.
Measure D gives us the opportunity to send a clear signal to city hall. It must be defeated and it must carry a strong message. That your contract is with the people of the city and not with the power brokers.
Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Dear Art,
I suffer from mental illness but I was not offended by the straight jacket. It’s a tool used to protect the mentally ill from hurting themselves. What I was offended by was seeing Ms. Alvarez’s in a straight jacket as if she is the best those of us who are mentally ill can offer in terms of leadership. Claudia is an embarassment to those with mental illness!
Measure D is like a straight jacket for the City Council, it protects them from hurting themselves and Santa Ana. And we all know that running for public office takes a little bit of mental illness.
I am happy to hear that the Orange County Young Republicans voted to oppose Measure D. I hope that the Republican Party of Orange County will do the same.
