Orange Juice: Week in Review

It’s time again for the Orange Juice: Week in Review. The biggest story this week had to do with the City of Mission Viejo being named the safest city in the U.S. Santa Ana, the Orange County seat, was the 187th safest city, despite the efforts of Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia “Clownia” Alvarez, who works for the O.C. District Attorney’s office. Alvarez said a few weeks ago, at a Council meeting, that she is in charge of stopping crime in Santa Ana. Those are probably words she would like to take back!

Another big story this week had to do with the utter inability of the administrators at Santa Ana College to do their job, as we found out that the fire alarms and fire suppression systems at their college have not been functional since 2o05.

Sean Mill suggested that Santa Ana follow San Francisco’s lead by issuing identification cards to all residents, legal and otherwise. And Thomas Gordon chronicled a weekend of graffiti and murder in Santa Ana.

Larry Gilbert attended the OC GOP Central Committee, and he wrote about the OC GOP’s inability to deal with the Carona fallout. We later excerpted a column from O.C. Register editorial writer Steven Greenhut that also focused on the OC GOP Central Committee and the Carona debacle.

Mike Metzler, the director of the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, had a rough week. He praised the useless administrators and politicians who bungled the fire alarms at Santa Ana College, and then Sean Mill revealed that Metzler is planning to host a Santa Ana Chamber mixer…in Orange. D’oh!

Speaking of Santa Ana College, John Hanna, the president of the Rancho Santiago Community College District, had a nasty run-in with a protester at a Democratic meeting. Coupled with the fire alarm fiasco, Hanna also had a rough week.

We also wrote about another college board, and the Costco that they, and the City of Huntington Beach, want to build on the campus of Golden West Community College.

In Santa Ana news, Mayor Miguel Pulido signed on as a supporter of the idiotic Measure D, whose sole purpose is to extend the checkered career of “Clownia” Alvarez. You can read Pulido’s statement in support of Measure D here. And you can read my argument against it here. We also compared Measure D to Prop. 93, another fraudulent Democratic term limit measure.

We also examined Pulido’s Renaissance Plan, and at Santa Ana Planning in general. And we considered another Pulido development – the City Place in north Santa Ana.

Little Saigon Insider also chimed in with another insightful look at the shameless Trannies.

We also considered two interesting stories dealing with Latinos in the U.S., as we found out that at least two Latino surnames are now in the top 10 list of popular American last names. We also shared a touching story about a Mexican immigrant who saved a 9 year old little boy whose mother died in a horrific car accident.

It was a brief week, due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. We hope you and yours had a great time. Rest assured, we will be back at it on tomorrow!

This week’s artwork is a portrait by Allan Ramsay of the insane King George III, the British King who bungled away the American colonies. Today’s politicians are not very different from old King George III. Consider the political disasters in Orange County alone! This week saw two more appear on the scene, as the fire alarms and fire suppression systems at Santa Ana College were in disrepair since 2005. Meanwhile, over at Golden West College, officials from the Coast Community College District and the City of Huntington Beach thought it was a great idea to put a Costco on the college campus. The spirit of King George III lives on…
