“Sheriff Michael S. Carona is drawing up a plan to step aside from day-to-day duties as Orange County’s top cop while he, his wife and his former mistress fight felony corruption charges, a county supervisor said,” according to the L.A. Times.
“Orange County Supervisor Bill Campbell, who plans to submit to the board Tuesday a resolution calling on Carona to take similar action, said he was informed the sheriff is already taking that step and looking into which duties he can pass off to others and which ones he must perform himself, such as signing documents.”
KCBS is reporting that “Also, Supervisor John Moorlach has asked to be placed on Tuesday’s agenda a proposed charter amendment that — if approved by voters — would allow the board to remove, by a 4/5 vote, any county elected officer, other than another supervisor, for cause defined by certain forms of malfeasance in office.”
Carona’s latest move reminds me of the Godfather movies. When a mafioso gets caught, he ends up having his assistants run things while he hides out. This move will allow Carona to get out of the limelight while things cool off. If he had any honor, he would resign. The Supervisors should continue with their plans to boot him out of his office.
Right after Chriss Street resigns,
Fabian Nunez resigns and Antonio
Villaraigosa resigns! Art, let’s
set the bar higher than who likes
who and what personality fits for
whatever! Senator Craig needs to
resign, Congressman Jefferson needs
to resign….in fact we can probably list 20 or 30 that “need
to resign”…that’s not the point.
Selective targeting is patently
unfair and bigoted! Get ’em all
or forget it!
Does anyone besides me notice that there seems to be a historic trend with electeds and corruption?
