OJ Watch: 2008 – Edwards goes after Hillary!

I am really starting to warm up to Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards. The L.A. Times is reporting that he UNLOADED on my LEAST favorite candidate, Shrillary “La Clintonista” Clinton. Yes! Here are a few excerpts:

  • Edwards “cast his front-running rival for the Democratic presidential nomination as part of a “corroded” Washington culture that is neglecting the nation’s problems and doing the bidding of powerful corporations.”
  • Edwards “Clinton-era politics when he said the Lincoln Bedroom should not be “for rent” and cautioned that “nostalgia” was no reason to elect someone president.”
  • Edwards framed the choices in the 2008 campaign as “caution versus courage; old versus new; calculation versus principle.”
  • “It’s not just that the answers of the past aren’t up to the job that we face today. It’s that the system that produced them was corrupt and is still corrupt. It’s controlled by big corporations, the lobbyists they hire to protect their bottom line, and the politicians who curry their favor and carry their water.”
  • Speaking in his shirt sleeves, he cleaved to a populist message, portraying himself as the champion of ordinary Americans who are losing ground to lobbyists and remote Washington politicians.
  • He said in Hanover that the nation’s goal should not be merely to install a Democrat in the White House, but to elect someone who would battle corporate interests that wanted to foil plans for a new healthcare system.
  • “Just swapping the Washington insiders of one party for the Washington insiders of another is not what we need,” he said.
  • He said he wanted to see the Democrats make “a clear stand from this day forward that we’re going to change the way we do things.”

La Clintonista’s problems are mounting on other fronts as well. The Washington Post reported that “Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton drew outrage from her opponents for the Democratic presidential nomination on Friday after saying that a terrorist attack in the United States would give Republicans an edge in the 2008 race.”

“Clinton raised the possibility of another terrorist strike, saying she would be the best Democrat to confront the Republicans in the wake of such an event. Her comments drew fire from not only her rivals but also the liberal blogosphere, with her detractors accusing her of seeking to use terrorism as a political weapon, just as Republicans have in earlier elections.”

“Former senator John Edwards (N.C.), speaking to reporters here late Friday, accused Clinton of “engaging in a political calculation” about terrorism.”

“Speaking at a house party the night before, Clinton said, “It’s a horrible prospect to ask yourself, “What if? What if?” To me the real nightmare is what if La Clintonista wins? No!!!

Here is my favorite part of this story “Left-leaning bloggers accused her of conceding a key Republican talking point without a fight and blithely accepting a Karl Rove-like framing of the terrorism debate. A Democratic candidate, bloggers argued, should be able to confidently make the case that another terrorist attack might suggest mistakes in the approach to fighting terrorism embraced by President Bush and the GOP, instead of accepting the assumption that any threat to national security causes voters to flock to Republicans. Since Republicans are claiming an edge because there have not been attacks since Sept. 11, 2001, it seems illogical, bloggers argued, to say that the GOP would gain if there were another attack.”

Busted! It is good to see Shrillary stick both feet in her mouth!

My other favorite candidate, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, also “criticized her for ceding ground to the Republicans, saying that he, by contrast, is “prepared to stand up to the GOP on national security because I’ve been there and done it.”

“We shouldn’t be thinking about terrorism in terms of its domestic political consequences, we should be protecting the country from terrorists,” Richardson said in a statement. “Senator Clinton seems to think that President Bush has made this country safer. I disagree with her. Our failed policy in Iraq is making us less safe. Our ports are less safe. Our cities are less safe. Our transportation systems are less safe.”

And we will be less safe if the warmonger La Clintonista becomes our next President!
