Interesting story in the L.A. Times today regarding a sweep of a gang infested neighborhood in Wilmington by dozens of federal and local cops, “serving search warrants and arresting 43 gang members and their associates on narcotics and weapons charges.”
“In addition to the arrests, Los Angeles police and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives seized guns, marijuana, crack cocaine and cash.”
“Officials called Tuesday’s sweep an unprecedented example of financially strapped local and federal agencies working together, sharing intelligence and pooling their resources to combat the region’s vast gang problem. They acknowledge that has not always been the case.
The investigation involved the LAPD, the Los Angeles city attorney, Los Angeles County district attorney, the U.S. attorney general and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.”
Wow! Why couldn’t something like this be done in Santa Ana’s gang ridden areas? Furthermore, take a look at the picture above – there is L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, along with Rocky Delgadillo and the head ATF agent in charge. When was the last time we saw Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido even acknowledge that we have a gang problem? I don’t think we will EVER see him hold a press conference with law enforcement, after busting up the gangs.
The Times article also stated that the long neglected neighborhood that was swept has recently begun a revival spurred by new Latino home owners. Imagine that. In Santa Ana the Usual Suspects would be harassing their new Latino neighbors…not welcoming them.
A lot of people are saying that the problems in Santa Ana are not solvable. That is true only if we don’t make any changes at the top. Villaraigosa, despite all of his self-inflicted problems, scored today. God only knows what Pulido was up to…probably trying to figure out a way to stay in office another twelve years…
The photo is proof that the LA Mayor’s management by press conference style continues, in spite of his personal problems having side-tracked his media hungry efforts for a while. He reamins a lot of show and little go when it comes to producing real results, however.
Oh but Art, didn’t you know that if we start taking weapons like the one pictured off the street, that’s simply the first step in the overturning of our Second Amendment rights?

RACIST!
They must hate mexicans.
