Santa Ana Councilwoman “Crazy” Claudia Alvarez struck again a couple days ago when she was speaking at the dedication of the new archway at South Main Street. Here are a few excerpts from a Total Buzz post about her latest classless episode:
Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez gave the first glimpse of the nastiness that could be in store if she becomes Democrats’ top candidate to challenge county Supervisor Janet Nguyen.
Alvarez was giving opening remarks yesterday for the dedication of a new archway on South Main Street. Nguyen, who represents the city on the Board of Supervisors, was introduced by the councilwoman. And we don’t think she modeled the introduction after Miss Manners.
“Ms. Nguyen, this is what Santa Ana looks like,” Alvarez said. ” We don’t need any more things like homeless shelters…. But welcome!”
Apparently Alvarez has now turned on her old patron, State Senator Lou Correa, regarding a homeless center that he wants to build in Santa Ana. According to Total Buzz, “I ran into Nguyen going to lunch and she said she’s taken no position yet on former Supervisor Lou Correa‘s proposal for a homeless center in Santa Ana. She also said that she’s met with every member of the Santa Ana City Council to discuss items of mutual interest — except for Alvarez because, Nguyen says, Alvarez has refused to meet with her.”
I think Senator Correa is absolutely right! We do not do nearly enough to help our homeless, and many of them are U.S. Veterans.
As for Alvarez, will she ever learn manners? I wrote a post a few weeks ago chronicling one of her earlier fits. I am sure there will be plenty more before the year is over!
I guess this means that Claudia will vote no on item 11B on Monday.
The plan to allow the conversion of the california palms hotel to a transient/residential hotel should be voted no by Claudia…unless they have given her cash for her supervisor race.
I have a question – I think the Palms is being improved. I would hope for a yes vote from all. As for the homeless shelter, why do we need a shelter? Why not mobile services and other things. A homeless shelter is not the solution. If the GOP believes the markets work, why not allow the private sector and charities to do it. A broader range of county services is.
There are a whole lot of homeless that hang out on Edinger and west of Bristol at some kind of military office. Are there homeless services there, too?
How about a homeless shelter in the great park? A recent study says Irvine already needs to add a lot more housing, some of it affordable.
Why should Santa Ana, which already has a glut of missions, halfway houses and legal and unpermitted shelters be expected to take an even larger share of the county’s homeless?
Let’s see some of the surrounding cities take up their fair share of transient housing.

Technically Irvine has no Homeless problem.
Anyone who doesnt look like they “fit in” gets questioned by the police immediately.
The PD used to even park at the offramps of the freeways and run license plate numbers of cars coming into the city. That no longer happens. Probably not legal.

It’s well documented that Claudia does not have the termperment, skills or class to remain in public office.
Hopefully, people will come to learn that more and more and choose not to vote for Claudia if she decides to run for the BOS.
Voters have the 411 on Alvarez and that’s why she’s been slapped down two times in her bid for assemblyman. Alvarez’s abrasive edge continues to be her worst enemy.
Gee, a politician gives a backhand to another. Big news flash. I heard Janet ran out of the dedication a couple of minutes later almost in tears. I’d like a supervisor with a bit more backbone than that.
As I understand it Alvarez went out of her way multiple times to thank her nemesis Tom Lutz for his work in getting the arch built. Then Jose Solorio, who did eveything but enlist the Little Saigon businessmen to kill the arch while on the Council subcommittee for some reason gave proclamations to the present Council for … well why did he give them anything. None of them had anything to do with the arch. In fact, The city should have scratched Solorio’s name from the plaque and put on Tom Lutz’s name.
So everyone played a little politics and Janet was a loser. Maybe she should use some of the money she’s spending on a satellite office in Westminister and use that space as a homeless shelter/office!!! Kill two birds with one stone.
Homeless people dont want homes, that is why they are homeless.

If I were Tom Lutz I’d be very, very nervous. A few years back Crazy Claudia attempted to outst
Lutz from the Planning Commission in a very public and humilating manner.
Certainly Crazy Claudia is too young for early signs of dementia.
Early signs of dementia are not Claudia’s problem. It’s the hair straightening soluton that’s rotting her brain.
sarmiento and solorio are sucking up to the viet community because they know that they face a big fight soon against a viet contender for their cushy jobs in which they get rich while screwing the public
I sent a comment noting this study on Saturday but for whatever reason it quite didn’t make it to get posted. Oh well!
I think that using this study will help many people understand that given Claudia’s agressive style you can easily conclude why some people, stuck in the 50’s or macho-man 70’s, just can’t accept a agressive woman, maybe sometimes perceived to be angry, doing work that would be considered okay if it was done by a man.

NEW YORK – A man who gets angry at work may well be admired for it but a woman who shows anger in the workplace is liable to be seen as
Sarmiento is getting rich? how?
There is a homeless/ mental health services office on Edinger and Main next to the “day old” bread store and inside the thrift store. It is a weird location. You can always see people hanging outside smoking and loitering. They have increased the crime in the area for both the businesses and the residents. Residents have tried to organize against the facility but the city won’t do anything for fear of a lawsuit. All the incidents of crime and issues near the school have been documented by the Delhi neighborhood leaders, but nothing has ever been done about it.
