It looks like Trung Nguyen (pictured at left with his OC GOP machine “Godfather,” Mike Schroeder) is gearing up to lose again.
Total (Schroeder) Buzz is reporting that Nguyen sent them this email message, “I filed and today received a new committee ID for the next election. The name of the new committee is ” Trung Nguyen for Supervisor 2008. “
Matt Cunningham over at Red County/OC Blog has also reported this story. Cunningham was so giddy at the announcement that all he could say was “Game on!” Well, if your game involves Trung losing again, game on indeed.
Last year Trung lost to Janet Nguyen in their race for the First Supervisorial District. He had previously lost a water board race and an OC GOP Central Committee race (where he was the only Vietnamese candidate running for the 68th Assembly District committee).
They ought to pass a “Three Strikes” law for politicians! Lose three times and you can’t run anymore…
It will be interesting to see what happens to Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez. She “took one for the team” last year and stepped aside so that Tom Umberg could run…and lose. And now there is a lot of talk that former legislator Joe Dunn will eventually run…and force her to the sidelines again. That just might compel her to go ballistic!
Trung’s such a joke, but he has just become the ULTIMATE punch line in being what may be the last blow to whatever hopes Janet had of an easy reelection next year. Even though Janet’s now the GOPer in office, there are still enough Reeps that hate her to make Trung a serious enough contender to split the GOP vote. With Trung in the race (again), there’s no way Janet can avoid a November runoff next year. All we need now is a strong Democratic contender (meaning NOT Claudia Alvarez), and we’ll have a new Supe for the First District in 2009.

I know very little about him, but am tiring of seeing him stone faced in photos. Suggest he learn how to smile more vs. appearing to scowl.

Shouldn’t you Reeps be ripping Trung for being a traitor to your party? How can anyone justify running him against an incumbent Republican? Can the Tran machine get away with everything?
The Democrats must be laughing themselves silly at their infighting Republican counterparts.
Art there is no infighting that I have seen. Maybe in the heat of it but now everyone is just sitting back enjoying the show. You are the only one filled with so much animosity that I have seen.
