As one would have expected, Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido has endorsed Hillary Clinton, instead of Bill Richardson, who is the very capable Governor of New Mexico. Richardson is also the only Latino candidate for President.
Total Buzz reported the endorsement this afternoon:
Pulido gets on board with Clinton
Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido has endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton for president and will join Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as a co-chair of Clinton
Looks like Pulido is following Ted Turner’s advice. Since Pulido’s riding the hot tamale train, it’s time he voted to make Santa Ana a sanctuary city.
GO JOHN EDWARDS!
I think the Mayor did the right thing. Since she is the most likely candidate to win, and he was a friend of her husband Presidnet Clinton, it only makes sense that he would endorse her. If she does in fact get elected it will be great for Santa Ana and help bring much needed resources to our city. Has Janet Nguyen endorsed someone for President? Has Art Pedroza?
Art you’re an idiot! Pulido HAS TO vote for Richardson just because he’s a Latino? What a joke! Sounds like the Lemming approach to politics.
It’s a good thing other Latinos like Claudio actually use their brains for something other than “La Raza.”
You don’t speak for us Art. No one made you our spokesman and no asked you to be. Stop it, you give us a bad name.
Poster 4,
Nice reach. Did I ever SAY that I represent anyone other than myself?
Richardson by the way has been lauded in Forbes Magazine for the fine job he has done in New Mexico.
He is the ONLY Democrat who has vowed not to raise taxes.
I endorsed him awhile ago.
As for being Lemmings, isn’t that what Pulido’s puppets are for?
Finally, Claudio is free to back whomever he likes. I personally don’t see what he sees in Edwards. The guy appears to be a big phony. How can you justify $400 hair cuts when so many Americans are suffering in poverty?
Poster 3,
I endorsed Richardson some time ago.
I don’t know who Supervisor Nguyen is backing, but since she is a Republican I would imagine that she will be supporting a GOP candidate.

Art has never anointed himself the spokesperson for anyone! And no one has asked him to be a spokesperson for anyone.
Art has placed himself front and center regarding the numerous hot issues of the day and he does not hide behind anonymous posts like you.
Art merely pointed out that Pulido did not endorse the only Latino candidate for President. Personally I see no harm in endorsing a native Californian that happens to be Latino.
Hurling insults at Art is not necessary. Utilize your brain power and post a reasonable explanation as to why you oppose Art’s position.
Art:
Does Gov. Richardson have any idea that you endorsed him?
And, let’s be clear about Richardson: he is only part Latino. I want a Latino candidate that lived the Latino experience. That is not Bill who grew up as the privileged son of a banker and spent his teenage years in New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. He has no understanding of what it means to be Latino. That’s not a knock, it’s just a fact and Miguel and other Latino candidates understand that. Indeed, Richardson’s only somewhat noteworthy endorsement is Gil “One Bill” Cedillo. Please.
Art:
You tired jab about the $400 haircut has been used and reused by nearly every phony blogger and reporter with a $10 keyboard.
The fact is that neither Hillary or Obama are electable. Edwards is electable and can win (despite the $400 haircut).
And, Edwards is the only candidate talking about poverty.
Poster 8,
I doubt it! I am not that important in the grand scheme of things.
As for Richardson, he must be white on the inside, because the outside looks fairly Latino to me.
All the candidates appear to be privileged. Richardson at least has a solid record as a fiscally conservative Governor who is also a social progressive.

Edwards may be the only candidate talking about poverty, however I do not think he’s as electable as you believe.
Meanwhile Anna Quindlen’s latest Newsweek article “For Hillary: A Proposal” (July 23) is well worth the read.
As for #8
Are you also asking how black is Barack Obama? Is it really that imporant how a candidate grapples with the question of racial authenticity on the political stage?
So, how white is Mitt?
Art:
I don’t think he looks Latino at all. But, that’s really not the point.
I think he’s a credible candiate without any money. It’s too bad.
Still, your point about chastizing the Mayor of SA for not supporting a fellow Latino rings hollow given that Richardson is hardly Latino. Sure, his mother is from Mexico City, but he did not grow up like most Latinos he claims to represent. It’s a fact most Latino elected officials grasped long ago and thus they feel no connection to him.
Plus, no one really cares who Mayor Pulido endores and most people outside of this blog and a few others in Orange County know who Pulido is.
Art – Not that I am a big Hillary fan , but I’ll bet I can find an even uglier picture of you – maybe some college picture of you with your d*** up a fetal pig from biology class? Come on – take the high road in your comments – you are much better than this.
Poster 13,
You have no idea! I was such a dork in high school. I went to Don Bosco Tech, a boy school. You can only imagine what we were all like.
My class was the last one to use slide rules…and yes, I did have a pocket protector…
At any rate, yes that picture was a bit unfair. But I really dislike the Clintons. As anyone who reads this blog knows, I don’t like crooked, unethical politicians.
I just hope Hillary doesn’t end up on a ticket with Bill Richardson.
Art,
I don’t know if you do this stuff on purpose, or just by accident, but it’s why you are perceived as a racist. To headline an article “Pulido goes with Clinton and not the Latino candidate” and then, when someone calls you on it, to defend yourself by citing Richardsons attributes, is outrageous.
Either the issue is Richardson being Latino, or being the best qualified candidate- in your opinion. To mix the two issues is nothing more than trying to cover a back handed slap at one Latino for not endorsing another Latino. Thankfully, we have at least some elected officials who don’t base their endorsements on race.
Poster 15,
The headline is quite factual. Pulido went with Clinton instead of the Latino candidate. Are you disputing that fact?
He is obviously looking for an appointment from Clinton.
Art:
You must be a dunce to think that Miguel’s endorsement of Clinton is going to lead to an appointment or that the Mayor is angling for an appointment. Miguel is the Mayor of a two-bit city that few people outside of Orange County even know exist. There is little to know value in the endorsement. Hell, the Mayor’s endorsement doesn’t even mean much to SA city council candidates anymore.
Miguel’s endorsment has met with as much media attention as your endorsement of Richardson.
In any event, you should be happy if Clinton appoints Miguel to a post because it will get him out of Santa Ana.
“In any event, you should be happy if Clinton appoints Miguel to a post because it will get him out of Santa Ana.”
I thought about that. You are right. That would be a good thing…
