Eye on Santa Ana: Bowers bends to community pressure

It looks like the Bowers Museum has bowed to the pressure we have been applying to them here at the Orange Juice! The Bowers’ July email newsletter includes this statement, “Free admission for Santa Ana residents** to ALL exhibits on Tuesday, July 10th and 24th, including Mummies: Death and the Afterlife, Treasures from Shanghai and GEMS! Colors of Light and Stone. Admission to these exhibits is usually $17.”

The Bowers Museum had previously not allowed Santa Ana residents to view the new exhibits for free. Now if only they would allow our residents, who fund all of the Bowers’ operational costs ($2 million per year) to go to the Bowers when we want to – and not just two days a month, we might be making some real progress.

Things to do in Santa Ana:

Sunset at the Santa Ana Zoo! This ought to be fun. The Santa Ana Zoo will be hosting its second “Sunset at the Zoo” on Sunday, July 8, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to pack up a delicious picnic dinner and a blanket and bring your family and friends.
