Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez went ballistic again tonight at the Santa Ana City Council meeting. This time she went off on a screed against First District Supervisor Janet Nguyen, calling her a racist.
Clearly Alvarez is obviously positioning herself to run against Supervisor Nguyen. Is it ethical for Alvarez to make campaign statements during a City Council meeting?
Claudia ought to know a thing or two about being a racist. She lost an Assembly race to Tom Umberg a few years ago when she put out signs in Spanish that said “She’s one of us.”
Claudia has also been working of late on raising our taxes to pay for more cops. Just what our working families need. Not.
She also voted for a dog barking ordinance that will take food out of the mouths of her constituents when they get stuck with outrageous city fines – because their dogs bark to protect their property.
And Alvarez turned a deaf ear to the protesters who came to City Hall tonight asking the City Council to vote to make Santa Ana a “sanctuary city” for immigrants.
Alvarez even voted for the budget tonight – even though it falls far short, again, on fixing our roads, building new libraries, and developing new parks. She is doomed to the same legacy left by other Council predecessors like Brett Franklin, Lisa Bist and Alberta Christy. Nada. No positive change. Business as usual ad infinitum.
One last thought – where was “Clownia” when we had a “Walk for Peace” a few weeks ago over at Madison Park? Supervisor Nguyen and Councilwoman Michele Martinez were there – but no Alvarez, no Benavides, no Bustamante and certainly no Pulido.
Thank God that Alvarez is staring at the end of her Council career next fall when she terms out.
Good boy Arturo, Good boy…now Janet can you please toss Artie another bone? Maybe you should just shut down O.J. or combine if with the Janet page and make official what is in fact the way this blog is written, nothing more than a P.R. tool for Ms. Nguyen. (Now I see why Red County has you linked to her page…it’s one and the same)
Art could you explain the “sancturary city” concept you seem to support in this post? How would it help your wonderful Santa Ana, a city you claim to love?
Poster 1,
I will do that when Matt officially turns his site into the Trannie site that it has become.
Poster 2,
Oh, you know what it is. Don’t be coy.
You people need to stop scapegoating immigrants. We have bigger fish to fry in Santa Ana.
We could realize MORE progress by deporting the Reamers and Pulido hacks…
There’s no need to vote on making Santa Ana a “sactuary city”. It’s been a de facto one for illegals for years. No news here. Santa Ana is beyond saving. You guys are just re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Maybe putting the city in receivership would help.
Well, at least you and MM have a lot in common….talk, talk, talk, and accomplish nothing. MM can’t even sit still through one council meeting without talking during presentations. You and she must still be on that walk of peace that also accomplished nothing.
I guess Claudia isn’t getting much advice from her pillow talk meetings with Tony Rauckaucus and Paul Freeman. Where are they when they’re really needed to calm the girl down. Shame on Claudia.
Art, you are just amazing! 8 months ago, Claudia was your first choice for Mayor, Board of Supervisors and Queen of Santa Ana. Now, she’s #1 on your enemies list. Has she really changed that much, or has your new alliance with Janet & Michelle completely taken over your life?
Morning Coffee
Art said: “You people need to stop scapegoating immigrants. We have bigger fish to fry in Santa Ana.”
Who are “you people” Art? Sure Art…that whole immigrant thing is having no impact on Santa Ana at all!:) Let’s just have another peace march or two and declare Santa Ana a “Sanctuary City” and then it will really be a swell place to live! Maybe we should declare the school district a “Sanctuary School District” while we are at it. Si Se Puede!
Art, I think you might want to take a look at the mailers that were sent out in the supervisor race. did it not scapegoat latinos? were any from Ms. Nguyen’s side? I think we should start there. As for a sancutary city, why does this need to be done? Does Ms. Nguyen support this concept? Please let us know.
If Joe Dunn does not run then Alvarez would be a good choice. If you like her work then vote for her to continue her public service. If you live in Santa Ana and don’t care for her work then suport her for Supervisor so she doesn’t run for Mayor. Claudia running for Supervisor is a win/win situation for Santa Ana residents. Janet Nguyen is a 26 year old who has done nothing and will continue to do nothing if re-elected.
#11, I have to offer a rebuttal to your comments.
The first glaring mistake you claim is that Janet is 26. She was 26 four years ago before she was elected to GG council.
Janet, despite having been in a new office a short amount of time, is doing her best to serve the residents of the First District.
If you don’t like her, and I’m assuming you obviously don’t, then there’s nothing I can do to change that opinion.
However, I worry about Claudia becoming Supervisor.
She obviously has a clear-cut history of not working well with people who disagree with her. Gee, imagine this little scenario: she’d be the only Democrat on a board with four Republicans… well… do I have to draw you a picture?
(NOTE: Please don’t ask me to do so because I can’t draw, LOL)
The roads in Santa Ana are not good enough for sanctuary!
Deport Reamer & Standiford! Or better yet make them drive their own city. And be faced with the real fear of crime that residents deal with everyday!
Your political carrer is over Claudia. Now go home. Nobody likes you, well maybe Jesus does. Just go home and feed your cat.
Anon 1:23 –
Did you mean her home in Irvine?
“Scapegoating immigrants”? “Bigger fish to fry”?
Art, with all due respect – are you high?
Santa Ana is one of the most densely populated cities in America, with high gand crime and some really run-down neighborhoods. Lets not mention the terrible state of the schools. Immigrants do work hard and are not bad people. Illegal immigrants DO cause problems for any city. Intense pressures on infrastructure, services and schools from 100,000+ illegal immigrants is a terrible drain on every aspct of Santa Ana’s civic life. Art, let’s not be coy. Stating openly that a city is a “sanctuary” for criminals is an absolutely inexcusable abuse of civic duty. Why not declare Santa Ana a “sanctuary” city for drunk drivers, tax evaders, insurance fraud, etc.?
C’mon, Art, give me a break.
Folks,
What we are witnessing is backlash against the Mexican arrogance and their unwillingness to assimilate.
Yesterday during the council meeting many were pleading to the council to allow illegals to live their American dream without a fear to be deported.
Unfortunately the illegals are living the Mexican dream, not American one.
The councilmembers take an oath of office just like every other elected does, a solemn oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and to uphold the laws of the land. Yet these electeds, claudia and sal, are directing their law enforcement officers to ignore the Federal law and to not cooperate or communicate with immigration authorities. The Federal law being violated is section 642(a) of the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act. It says the following:
“Notwithstanding any other provision of Federal, State or local law, a Federal, State or local government entity or official may not prohibit or in any way restrict any government entity or official from sending to or receiving from the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual.”
“Sanctuary City
You O.J. Bloggers seem to love Lou Correa and he invented Claudia. Will you still love sweet Lou if he helps Claudia beat J. Nguyen for Supervisor? Lou will not have to worry about his own race this time and will be able to really through his weight behind Ms. Alvarez.
#20,
I will have love for Lou or anyone else who can help a Democrat take out Janet Nguyen in the next election. I don’t care if the candidate is Claudia or Joe Dunn I’ll be supporting either one of them.
Not all of us at the Orange Juice are fans of Janet. The theme of her campaign for the B.O.S. was Latino-bashing. That did not sit well with me. I was glad that she beat the Tranny though.
Sean,
Janet gave out 150 OCTA bus passes to the children of Santa Ana recently at Councilmember Martinez Summer Youth Resource Bash
Janet attended and walked at the Peace March
Janet gave 10K for programs in our city
Give credit where credit is due
Thank you Mr. Mill. Finally someone looked at the mail and saw what it was. We still have yet to hear from Mr. Pedroza on the issue.
Poster 23,
Please. The letter you are referring to was in Vietnamese. Mr. Mill did not receive it and neither did I.
And yes, I wrote about it when it happened and I was none too pleased. Janet’s campaign staff blew it and I said so.
She is NOT a racist. But Trung is. I am very glad she beat him.
I hate racism more than I hate Claudia. I suppose that means I dislike Janet and her Hispanic team that is supposed to show Janet isn’t a racist. But most of them don’t even live in District 1. Except you Art. You’re OK and you live in District 1.
So my vote will go to Claudia, unless Joe Dunn decides to declare his candidacy.
