Chisme has it that Santa Ana neighborhood leader Tim Rush and his boss, Bruce Mulhearn, have written a letter to the county manager of Land America United Title asking them to fire our co-blogger, Sean Mill. Their goal appears to be to stop him from writing about them on this blog. They have also threatened to sue him for slander and libel and to cut off business with the company he works for.
Rush works for Mulhearn as a realtor trainor at Prudential Mulhearn Realtors. Reportedly he stole money and committed real estate fraud, but as I have written about previously, he paid for his actions and has kept clean ever since.
Mill has had an axe to grind with Rush for years for many reasons. Rush was one of former Santa Ana Councilman Ted Moreno’s main detractors. Rush also has a reputation for calling the City of Santa Ana to complain about his Latino neighbors – and that has been widely reported in the O.C. Register and elsewhere.
It has personally bothered me that Mill has gone after Rush so frequently – but I don’t think he has ever said something false about Rush or his boss. And I suppose that Rush brought this on himself when his picture and comments appeared on mailers slamming Mill’s amigo, Santa Ana Councilman Sal Tinajero, during last year’s council campaign. I thought that was shameless on Rush’s part.
I should also note that Mill previously called Prudential and told them about Rush’s past, so I suppose this turn of events is karma in action. I wish they would both leave each other alone at this point – and Rush really ought to think twice before he tries to use the courts to muzzle Mill. That dog won’t hunt. The truth is an instant defense against charges of slander or libel. Rush should know that. I think he is just saber-rattling.
Santa Ana City Manager Dave Ream has been running around with his sidekick Jim Ross to various Santa Ana neighborhood associations lately, pitching his $50 to $60 million bond to fix our roads. Chisme has it that last night he popped up at at the Laurelhurst N.A. with his usual song and dance, “the state screwed us, county screwed us, Jim and I worked it out to put your neighborhood at the top of the list for new roads…blah, blah, blah.”
One of the folks in attendance shot up his hand and asked “why are we the taxpayers going to get stuck with 50 to 60 million in bond sales/new debt that we will have to pay for without being able to vote for it, yet you went before the City Council and asked for raises…where did you find that money?” Priceless!
Predictably, the neighborhood association leader stood up and loudly stated “we don’t attack guests who have come here to tell us we are getting new streets.” Sounds like this guy has been guzzling Ream’s Kool Aid.
Ream said, “we are contractually obligated to give the raises” and “it would not be fair for the #2 or #3 workers to make more than their bosses.”
How’s this Ream – fire the administrators that screwed up our streets and spent the money on God knows what!

Who knew Assemblymember Chuck DeVore could play basketball? That’s him on the far right, in the picture that appears on the right. Last month, the legislative Republicans played the Democrats in the Kings home court at Arco Arena. The proceeds went to charity. Apparently the Reeps won, 55-30. That might be their only victory in Sacramento this year!
O.C. Supervisor Janet Nguyen will be honored at a reception hosted by the O.C. You say Sean Mill “has had an axe to grind with Rush for many reasons”.
Ted Moreno, Latino neighbors, and Sal Tinajero are your examples. None of those are actually Sean Mill’s reasons. None of them involved Sean, although he tries to claim some personal affront.
Let’s face it. Mr. Mill has engaged in bully tactics against Mr. Rush, and this blog has allowed and supported it.
I can’t believe this personal vendetta is so out of hand that Mill tried to have Tim Rush fired. That’s way beyond the boundaries of what actions a normal person would take.
So let me get this straight? Mill was convicted of a crime…stealing and Real Estate fraud and he is one of your trusted bloggers….YIKES! Those are both serious offences and with all the corruption you bitch about here I find it ver interesting that you so blindly forgive Mill. While everyone makes nistakes intheir lives those are some pretty serious oops’es.
Art,
Is it true that Tim Rush, who was convicted of fraud surrounding real estates dealings, is actually training realtors for Mulhearn? That can’t be good.
Anon#1 why do you call telling the truth “bully tactics”? Can you cite specific lies told by Mill about Rush? Do you dispute the facts surrounding Tim Rush? Doesn’t Rush employ “bully tactics” when it comes to his Latino neighbors?
Tom Tancredo? Does he know Sean
and Rush? We love Chuck DeVore..
too!
Ron & Anna, Chuck is awesome!
Hey number 1 why can’t Sean defend his friends from the likes of Tim Rush? If that is the case, then why is this any of your business? This doesn’t concern you personally either. That is, unless you are Tim Rush himself. Is that you Timmy?
Chisme has it that Santa Ana neighborhood leader Tim Rush and his boss, Bruce Mulhearn, have written a letter to the county manager of Land America United Title asking them to fire our co-blogger, Sean Mill. Their goal appears to be to stop him from writing about them on this blog. They have also threatened to sue him for slander and libel and to cut off business with the company he works for….
Why do people read a blog if they are going to get all upset by it?
Tim Rush has been in the actual newspaper for stories on his tactics around the neighborhood. Threatening lawsuits seems to be right in line with that.
It’s just an internet blog, people. Chill. Add to the ideas, refute the ideas, ignore this site… whatever.
While writing over and over again about Tim’s past may, or may not, not be illegal, it is certainly unfair and wrong. Sean trying to get Tim fired was also wrong. He has no right to interfere in Tim’s ability to make a living. Tim made a mistake, paid for it and is now getting on with his life. He should be allowed to do so.
Sean has every right to disagree with Tim, or anyone else, on issues. He should not have the right to throw Tim’s past out, over and over, instead of engaging in a discussion about those issues. In my opinion, that constitutes a continued personal attack on Tim, and those comments should be banned from this blog. It should also apply to the same type of attacks on anyone else, not just Tim.
Sean has been given the privilidge of being a blogger here, and being appointed to an important City Commission. He needs to get his anger under control and demonstrate that he is worthy of those responsibilities.
Morning Coffee
Morning Coffee,
Do you not have a problem with Tim going after Sean’s ability to make a living?
Do you not find it a bit hypocritical for Tim to call on his neighbors to be good citizens when he in fact has not been one himself? Isn’t paying your taxes part of being a good citizen?
Look forward to hearing your response.
There is a line between notifying the public and harassing an individual and Sean Mill crossed that line on this blog.
Consider the post just before April 15 when Sean singled out Tim Rush to remind him personally taxes were due. That’s personal.
Being a blog author and purportedly “telling the truth” does not justify invading anyone’s privacy and sharing that information on the internet. Just because Sean Mill has access to credit reports, etc. at work does not allow him to legally pull up information at will and post it publicly. Usually credit, tax, employment, and personal information is only distributed by specific request and by permission under limited circumstances. No permission was given for sharing Mr. Rush’s personal information.
The act of posting sensitive information and harrassing someone this way, and the fact that Mr. Mill has engaged in a concentrated effort against a specific individual borders on cyber stalking.
The article about Tim Rush in the Register pointed out that he was attempting to clean up the neighborhood where he lives, trying to do something about some of his neighbors blatantly and offensively violating existing city codes, and generally helping make the city a better place. More people should exhibit that kind of pride in the place they live.
Mr. Mills, I understand you are a loyal friend but don’t you think that you have a double standard when it comes to Rush and Moreno?
Moreno was convicted of extortion, money laundering and mail fraud plus didn’t he also publicly state that he was trying to save downtown Santa Ana from being given over to gays? I believe the exact statement was something like “the gay life style is a sin and it is wrong to take Santa Ana into that direction”
your double standard reveals that this is not about protecting us Mexicans from the mean anglo but rather because Rush attacked your friend.
ps
I met Moreno once on the street, before his problems, he seemed like a likeable guy. I can see why you like him.
http://www.ocweekly.com/columns/letters/letters/18303/
I googled OC Weekly, Ted Moreno and up came the following page, there is a letter their from a Sean Mill…is that you Sean?
DON’T CRY FOR ME, TED MORENO
This is for Rebecca Schoenkopf:
I see you put another piece-of-shit article in the Weekly about Ted Moreno (“No Sex! Alleged Lies? Videotape?” Sept. 18). I know you and your little queer art friends have it in for Ted, but this is yellow journalism at its worst. This is just ridiculous. If you and the rest of your little queer buddies are going to make attacks on Ted, well, go ahead. But . . . if you’re going to pretend to be a journalist, at least pretend to be a little ethical and a little fair. Thank you.
-Sean Mill
Santa Ana
Rebecca Schoenkopf responds: Dearie, you obviously didn’t read the article in question, as we made it abundantly clear that Moreno is a stand-up husband and father, which obviously makes him fit to serve the community, no matter how many counts of extortion, conspiracy, money laundering, mail fraud and election violations he’s been charged with. After all, it’s private morality rather than public ethics that our government and media care about. And obviously, you, too, Sean, since you told me that even if Moreno had committed the crimes with which he’s charged (though you made it clear you don’t believe he did), you would still support him over Miguel Pulido.
Poster 16,
Moreno crossed the line because he was desperate to beat Pulido. In so doing he ruined his life and inadvertently strengthened Pulido.
Today we finally have a chance to beat Pulido without resorting to breaking the law. We just have to keep chipping away and in 2008 I am confident that we will recruit a candidate who will go on to beat him.
I am fairly certain he will lose to a woman – and then Pulido will slink off to count the fortune he amassed during his long reign.
#11,
The information about Tim Rush is a matter of public record and available to anyone that wants to see it. Anyone can go to the Orange County Recorders office and find the information by using the computers available for the public.
The information about Tim’s real estate license is available for all to see on the state of California DRE website. The case information on his revoked license is also available on that site.
His employment information is also available online as well. Look up Prudential Mulhearn Realtors online and you will find a picture of Tim and info about his position as a real estate trainer. He also stated in the LA Times article that he was a real estate trainer.
So your assertion that I violated any type of laws or abused my position at my job to go after Mr. Rush is 100% false. All the information I used is a matter of public record available to each and everyone of us.
You claim Mr. Rush is trying to clean up his neighborhood, well I am trying to clean up the real estate industry. Someone of Mr. Rush’s character, who has been stripped of his right to have a real estate license and who has failed to pay his taxes, should not be in charge of training real estate agents.
Mr. Rush has continually harassed his Latino neighbors, attacked my friends Sal Tinajero and Ted Moreno, and just been a general overall racist malcontent. When he stops his crusade, I’ll stop mine.
I think you are right Mr. Pedroza about Pulido being beaten by a woman. Maybe Claudia Alvarez, I have seen her in three council meetings and she is very enganged and frankly I was impressed.
I have heard that she sometimes goes off the deep end but I have not seen that in the meetings that I have seen.
I think Michelle Martinez is a bit green right now.
I cannot wait for a lawsuit to be filed against the City of Santa Ana and the City Commissioners blogging on this site attacking other City Commissioners. Commissioners are employees of the city and they are creating a hostile work enviornment. I would love to be the Attorney for the Plaintiff’s when these judgements are handed down to each individual blogger and to the City of Santa Ana for allowing this to occur.
#10-
As I understand it, Sean went after Tim’s job first, which opened the door to this kind of behavior. That doesn’t mean I’m in favor of **either one of them** doing this but, if you throw the first rock, you should be prepared to have it thrown back!
Tim made mistakes in his life. So have hundreds of thousands of other people. Many have learned from their mistakes and gone on to be good citizens, earning the trust and respect of their communities. Why should Tim, or anyone else, not be allowed that opportunity? What purpose does it serve for Sean to continually bring up the past? The only effect it has is to embarrass Tim and make his life miserable. Is that the type of behavior we want to see in a blogger or City Commissioner? Is being a bully considered a positive character trait?
Why is it hypocritical for someone who made mistakes to learn their lesson and become a good citizen? Or to encourage others to be good citizens? What I do think **is*** hypocritical is to excuse Moreno from his mistakes, or say they don’t matter, because Moreno did it to take out Pulido. How does that justify what he did? Does that mean all politicians can now use extortion, conspiracy, money laundering, mail fraud and election violations if they want to oust a politician they don’t like or agree with?
Perhaps if Tim Rush were anti Pulido, pro Hispanic, etc. Sean wouldn’t be doing this vendetta against him, and Art wouldn’t allow those personal attack comments to be posted on this blog. Again, Sean has every right to disagree with Tim on issues, but constantly embarrassing him over something in the past is neither fair nor admirable.
Morning Coffee
Morning Coffee –
It is neither fair or admirable that Rush, a convicted felon, falsely attacked Sal Tinajero for corruption on a political mailer during the last election cycle.
I agree, Rush made a mistake and served his time, however his decision to peddle a falsehood about Sal Tinajero is, at best, disingenious. Rush’s decision to engage in this swarmy behavior was motivated by his desire to curry the favor of his political pals Richardson and Pulido. Tim’s decision to attack Tinajero only opened the window of opportunity to further scruntize him. Surely you see the irony in Rush, a convicted felon, falsely accusing an innocent man of corruption.
Council member Tinajero has never been charged with allegations of corruption nor has he been convicted of a felony. And he has never served jail time like Tim Rush.
I’d like to know are disbared attorneys allowed to teach law to future attorneys? Or, can a medical doctor, whose license has been revoked, instruct the doctors of tomorrow? I know that a teacher who has had his or her teaching credential revoked cannot teach children. So, why is it that a real estate agent, who has had his license revoked, and is a convited convicted felon, allowed to instruct budding real estate agents? Mr. Mill presents a fair question. As far as Rush and Mulhearn’s efforts to silence Mill on this blog, I suggest they consult a 1st Amendment attorney and learn first hand they’re dancing up the wrong tree.
Mr. Rush’s hubris keeps him in the Sean Mill spotlight.
“Council member Tinajero has never been charged with allegations of corruption nor has he been convicted of a felony. And he has never served jail time like Tim Rush.”
That is coming soon.
#19-
I heard about that mailer but never saw it, and also heard about one from Rosie, but never actually saw that one either. I understand there were several mailers, all attacking Sal. If what you say about Tim is true, and I take your word on that, then you
I am not going to allow the address to Sean’s employer to be listed here. Whoever it is that keeps posting it please know I will continue to delete these posts.
Art-
While I’m not the one trying to post that info, and there is already sufficient information posted to identify Sean’s employer, it’s too bad you didn’t take this position earlier and apply it equally to both of them.
Morning Coffee
Morning Coffee –
You know as I do, that Sean and Tim are Santa Ana’s fueding Hatfields and McCoys, and their battling goes back many years.
You’re entitled to your assestment of Sean, however Rush has already demonstrated that he lacks good judgement in matters of business. And Rush’s conviction says it all. On the other hand, Sean’s record as a Planning Commissioner is too new to evaluate. Tim has not and will never be appointed to a city commission because he’s a convicted felon.
Your concern for Sean’s emotional and angry bully behavior is endearing. However a good case could be made that Rush’s 300+ telephone calls to code enforcement, to turn in his neighbors, is heavy-handed and could be construed as *bullying.*
If there’s an expiration date on falsely accusing an innocent man, I’m certain it isn’t six months. Nonetheless, Tim’s decision to *bully* Sal Tinajero is just another example of Rush’s lack of sound judgement. Really, a convicted felon hurling false accusation. This does not excude the confidence a neighborhood leader should possess.
