The folks at Red County/OC Blog had fun looking at Tom Umberg’s and Benny Diaz’ campaign finance reports, so I thought, just for kicks, that we would do the same with Carlos Bustamante’s report:
- Some guy named Anthony Fanticola gave him $1,500. He gave Matt Fong a thousand in 1998.
- Allen Baldwin, of O.C. Housing Corp., gave him a $100
- A towing company called B & D Towing gave him $250
- OC Supe Bill Campbell gave him $1,500
- Citywide Mortgage gave him $1,500
- The Committee for Improved Public Policy gave him $1,500
- Dwight Manley, who I think is a sports agent, gave him $1,500
- Some company called CR&R gave him $1,000
- Another towing company, called Balcaceros & Davalos, gave him $250, via their owner
- Ingardia Brothers Produce gave him $250 – I guess they are not involved with produce trucks
- The President of Douglas Hyundai Isuzu gave him $1,500
- William Lyon, of Lyon Homes, gave him $1,500
- Benjamin Mendoza, of Kelly’s Body Shop, gave him $1,000. Quid pro quo?
- The O.C. Automobile Dealers Association gave him $1,000. More quid pro quo?
- Acosta’s company, Ralph Allen & Partners, gave him $500
- PCI Parking Concepts gave him $1,500
- Saddleback Turkey Ranch gave him $300. Figures. They know turkeys when they see them.
- And a bunch of lawyers and insurance men also gave him a lot of $$$
Your bullet no. 5 refers to Bill Campbell as a FORMER Supervisor. Do you know something we don’t know?
I wonder how they will feel when he comes in a distant 5th place in this race?
Ralph Allen wants to build another one of those god awful all concrete buildings in the civic center i’m sure! Ralph IS what Lorreta says she was called in the news today!!!
The first bullet is not so strange — Acosta wants a democrat (John Palacio) to replace CB, then SA will have the only all demo council in OC. More low income housing just around the corner.
CR&R is a local trash company that is trying to obtain contracts in Santa Ana. They have been mentioned several times in D.A. investigations for their practices.
Can anybody explain why towing companies would donate to him?
It is called returning favors to the Mayor for allowing them to rip off the poor folk within the City.
Why hasn’t the DA or the FBI investigated this already?
There is a short list of “approved” towing companys in Santa Ana that are allowed to do business in the city thanks to the Toker case. If you are not on the list, you can’t tow. The police dept. and city Attny’s office approve the list. Councilmembers can “encourage” the Police Chief or City Attny to approve new companys or 86 others.
