Looks like our friends at the Santa Ana Police Officers Association have changed their minds about Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez – as have a lot of people. The SAPOA is hosting a fundraiser for her on Thursday, January 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at their headquarters, located at 1607 N. Sycamore, in Santa Ana.
You can RSVP via email or by calling 714-200-3181. The cost is $249 and up depending on your level of sponsorship.
This is a wise move by the leaders of the SAPOA. Martinez has impressed most everyone with her natural leadership ability and she has taken a lead role on gang prevention. The police officers will end up being huge fans of Councilwoman Martinez. They are showing that now by helping to retire her campaign debt.
Oh fer cryingoutloud Art!
The POA is doing what it always does for winners they didn’t back! They still think she’s an idiot! They just want to make nice now that she’s on the Council for the next 4 years. Watch for Fire and the rest to send checks too! That’s how business is done, and has been done, for years!
Poster #1 is right. In fact, the Mayor helped facilitate this. As for the comments about Martinez impressing everyone with her natural leadership ability – PLEASE! the only reason Pedroza is kissing her backend is because she’s the only one who was actually stupid enough to put him in her inner circle for fear of being bad mouthed on his blog. We all know how bad Pedroza likes to have his ring kissed. What a joke!
I think Pulido is clearly afraid that Martinez will run against him in two years. It makes sense that he would play nice now after backstabbing her last year by recruiting Tino.
Yes Art. Pulido is staying up nights worrying about Michele running against him! Sure! I don’t know what’s more pathetic…if you really believe the stuff you post, or if you just post it because you think it makes you look smart.
And to poster #2- the Mayor didn’t help facilitate the fundraiser. Mark Nichols, the POA President, put it all together! That’s part of his job!
I agree with all the anomymous posters’ on this one. Martinez has not impressed me yet, and Art is clearly seeing only what he wants to see.
Martinez is young, but energetic and let’s hope she follows through with her promises
hhmmmm…
Will Ms. Martinez’ resolve be strong enough as to not allow herself to be co-opted by the cops? It’s hard to take money and not return any favors.
There are better outlets for her to retire her debt.
C’mon guys, don’t worry about Michele. She will be just fine. Her street smarts will help her cut through Pulido’s BS. I hope her fundraiser goes well.
Get behind her now folks – the train has already left the station. Believe me, she will be a force to be reckoned with, in due time.
I agree with Art, it’s time to get on the train!
Get on the train, or get run over by it.
Wait a minute Art. Let’s recap. Before the election Martinez (and Tinajero) PROMISED the vacant seat would be filled through a special election so everyone could vote. That was a big deal here, remember? And what happened? After all the gnashing of teeth and hand wringing done here over Sarmiento, Tinajero voted him on the Council, supposedly with the blessing of Martinez and Alvarez.
Now, Martinez is having a fundraiser HOSTED by the POA. There is a *big* difference between “hosted by” and “attended by”. And Tinejero is dumb enough to admit (in public) that he’s asking Pulido to help him resolve his campaign debt. Am I the only one who see’s a pattern here?
And a few short weeks ago, you were saying Pulido was staying up nights worrying about Alvarez running against him next time. Now, it’s Martinez causing his sleepless nights?
I’ll bet you’re going to credit Martinez/Tinajero for Mayoral term limits going on the ballot too.
With the cops, and soon the fire folks, brown-nosing her, she will soon be smelling like burnt bacon. That’s enough for any genuine grass roots person to avoid her.
These folks wil undobtedly be asking for yet another COLA raise.
Simple economics dictates that if you have too many high paid employees the less people you can employ.
If we have too few cops on the streets of SA it is not that there isn’t enough money to hire them, rather it is because too few people are being paid too much $$$. Bring the salaries and pensions in line with the rest of OC and I bet we will be able to fill all the vacant police positions. It doesn’t really matter how much a person makes, they still can’t be in two places at once.
Perhaps M. Martinez can bring this issue up. Be warned though, both the police and fire chiefs will shout her down.
So, Michele has a fundraiser hosted by the cops and then she tries to keep a lid on their salary? Hmmmm..
