Danny Rolling executed for Gainesville killings
STARKE — Danny Rolling, the man who brutally murdered five University of Florida students and plunged the city of Gainesville into panic in the summer of 1990, was executed tonight.
The governor’s office said Rolling, 52, died around 6:14 p.m.

As a pro-death penalty Liberal, GOOD FOR THEM! He got what he deserved.
Thinking about the death penalty I wonder how many of our readers voted for, or plan to vote for, Jerry Brown who appointed Rose Bird to be the Chief Justice of the state of CA a FEW years ago?
Larry
Larry — Jerry Brown will get more votes than anyone else on the statewide ballot. Mark my words!
Claudio — I too am a pro-death penalty liberal, but I feel the death penalty should not be imposed unless the burden of proof is very high. We shouldn’t be able to put people to death unless we’re absolutely certain they did the deed — like if there were many reputable eyewitnesses. I also think the death penalty shouldn’t be imposed unless the person is a clear danger to society. Otherwise I think life imprisonment is reasonable.
I hope that I get to see the day when my country stops murdering its own people.
As an anti-death penalty conservative, I’m with Mike Lawson on this one. The greatest democracy on Earth shouldn’t be putting people to death. It is barbaric. Two wrongs do not make a right…
Art, I disagree with you.
If of course there is subtantial proof that someone has committed such a crime… I say fry ’em, shock ’em, or shoot ’em!
