Randall registered as a Democrat when he became old enough to vote, although he admits that he is not always in agreement with his own party. In particular, he disagrees with the “Southern”Democrats, with regard to his lack of religious beliefs. Randall does believe however that everyone has the right to believe in a Deity(s) or lack thereof without fear or retaliation.
Randall graduated from Canyon High School, where he played football. He lettered twice and went to the playoffs twice – just to get blown out each time. After graduating, Randall was picked to be an intern with the Information Technology Division of the Democratic National Convention Committee at the 2000 DNC in Los Angeles. The Internet was just starting to hit its political stride at that time and he voted for Al Gore. Randall however readily admits that Gore is not the “Inventor of the Internet.”
Randall was a student at Cal State Fullerton (Go Titans!), where he got involved with student politics. He restarted the CSUF Pre-Law Society, served as the Student Representative of the HSS Committee, and lobbied for CSUF Associated Students as part of the Lobby Corp. in
Sacramento. He graduated in 2004 with a BA in Criminal Justice and a minor in Political Science (which is why he named his blog “Mike’s Daily Lockup.”)
With his degree in hand, Randall left for Boston and worked as a staff member for the DNCC reprising his role in the Information Technology division. Once again he worked as an “Executive Volunteer.” Translation: NOT PAID! Randall says, “Oh how I wish I was paid for my political work,” serving as a co-logistical manager. He related a a funny story about how he met Gov. Mark Warner and Sen. John Glenn, but he will share that with us for another day. The kicker about Boston, according to Randall, was the awesome shot that he and his brother William had from the speakers podium right after John Kerry’s speech.
Randall is hoping to slave away for his law degree and join the ranks of working lawyers in politics. He currently serves as the Executive Board member of the 60th AD and as the Webmaster of the OC Democratic Party.
Randall lives in the Anaheim Hills/Yorba Linda area, in northern OC, which means he will expand our political coverage into that area. Welcome aboard Mike!
I can not wait to hear more on this blog about how NIMBY’s in Yorba Linda are performing planning by the ballot box.
Is this the same Mike Randall who sued the Boy Scouts because they didn’t like the fact that belief in God was part of the organization?
Congratualations Mike! Glad to see you here and I look forward to your insight on our district.
Welcome aboard, Mike!
Anon 10:58: OC Blog already answered your question. Go look it up!
If he is a member of our Exe board then he needs to step down while he blogs. PERIOD!
No he doesn’t Karen. Comments like yours are why the OC Democratic Party Central Committee is the laughing stock of the county. People like Mike Randall, Frank Barbaro, Tim Steed and Carina Franck need to get you, Teddi Alves and the other crazies to know your roll and shut your mouths.
Hey message says?
Use your real name or do not comment to me at all OK?
Or are you a chicken? I sense alot of mean nasty hatred in you there huh?
You saw what Claudio started didn’t you?
That is all I am saying.
As delegates our by-laws are not to slam others. So I hope this is not a Delegate speaking to me. Pleae you compare me to Tedi? I have yet begun to speak out at our meeting.
Wow, I join another blog and look at all the comments about me.
First to answer the one about the Boy Scout Case: Yes. For the Record OC Blog already covered this one and if you have the time please read my response to Jubal. He has his diasagreement and I have mine, but at least we have been civil. Considering how old that case is, or the number of times I received hate mail during the case, I wish people would just grow up.
Second, and this one goes to Karen, I will not resign my seat on the Executive Commitiee. Unlike some who post after-action reports of what occurs in the meetings, I will not. I’ve never done anything aginst you, so don’t go calling for my head on a silver platter.
“…they didn’t like the fact that belief in God was part of the organization?”
You are mistaken. At the time of the case the belif of the scout was left up to the scout and his parents. Every group from Unitarians to Buddhist had religious merit awards/medals. Since then, and it’s been a while, scouting has removed some of the medals for certian religions.
But then again when I hiked the 63 miles in the backcountry of New Mexico with my fellow scouts, none of them had anyproblems about my lack of faith.
