We invite our readers to comment on any topics related to the posts in this blog, and all opinions and points of view are welcome as long as they are relevant and advance the discussion in some way. Differing points of view and criticism of the positions of others are invited, but attacks on individuals are not. Robust participation is encouraged but domination by a single commenter will not be tolerated.
Comments containing personal attacks, namecalling, derogatoriness, tasteless profanity,
Thank you Art, Claudio and company for this policy.
Hear, hear!
Most of the inappropriate comments here are on the posts having to do with central OC. I don’t live there and don’t have much opinion about the public figures in that part of the county. As an uninterested bystander, I’ll be deleting any and all inappropriate comments on these posts.
Stay on topic. Write like an adult. Criticize ideas, not people. If you do otherwise, don’t expect your comments to last long. And don’t blame Art for deleting your posts.
Thank you Ar for this policy.
I too will be policing the site and enforcing the rules.
Semper Fi,
Tim Whitacre
Thanks everyone for the new policy. Hopefully, this will keep away the total fruitcakes… and all the rest of us can return to discussing Orange County affairs rationally.
Hallelujah! I was ready to stop visiting this site. I think I’ll stay for a while.
Hey Art,
I noticed that the comment moderation has been enabled. What does that do, and how long until a comment is actually published?
Was there a reason ton activate this option?
Comment moderation was necessary to put in effect due to some vulgar postings that were spamming the Blog.
Art and the rest of us agreed that until we have identified and removed the proper IP, we should use Comment Moderation.
Sorry for the inconvenience, we should be squared away within a day or two. In the meantime, everyone in the Blogpen here is checking throughout the day to post legitimate items as fast as possible, so keep your comments comeing!
Hmmmmmm, Lance got caught with his hand on the sign. I wonder if Ms. Greenwood, now understands how it feels to have signs pulled up and taken away. Does that read as STOLEN? Trish Kelley’s signs have been being removed, (STOLEN!) some (STOLEN!) right from supporters yards, for weeks now. As soon as they are replaced, off they go (STOLEN!) again. Some signs have been replaced several times.
Are these want-to-be’s so very afraid of Trish Kelley, that they had to resort to these childish dirty tricks? Are the opponents so afraid of her that they, (horrors) would actually steal her signs?
Well, yeah! They are afraid of her. A SITTING councilman is so afraid of her,he has given $1500.00(ea)(a matter of public record) to the campaigns of the 3 “blue sign boys,” In an effort to defeat this very effective “peoples,” Council Member, Trish Kelley.
Does this bode well for the citizens of Mission Viejo. Hardly!!! That would be a block of 4 votes on any issue that the “donating,” SITTING, Council member wishes. I really doubt that that is in my best interest as a citizen of Mission Viejo.
Ms Greenwood, (or her loyal supporters) have been going around placing HER signs so that they block Council member Kelley’s, signs. Is this right, that Mrs. Kelley’s supporters must go along moving HER (Kelley’s) signs so that they are visible to the voting public because they are constantly being blocked by Ms. Greenwood’s signs? After all, Ms. Greenwood, gets angry when her signs are pulled up.
Hey, Art,
That’s a GREAT commenting policy. Too bad the posts you allow (mainly those by Claudio) and comments made on his posts don’t follow it.
Claudio’s posts have turned into the ongoing anti-Hull-Richter mad rant. Doesn’t he know the elections are over? Does he think that by insulting, defaming and possibly even libeling them, all he does is empower them and weaken him, and your whole blog?
Tell him to get over it and get on with real political information. Most of us are tired of his lies and hate-filled venom.
Too bad the Democrats on your blog don’t have the grace you do.
WE have just seen why Decline To State is becoming the dominant registration. Neither the GOP or Dem “Leadership” respects their actual constituency. Dems didn’t take to the “image” of Umberg and likely don’t associate him with values of “Democrats.”
As for this blog, it appears that Claudio must not approve posts conflicting with his very jaded views or there would be many!
The anatomy and physiology of OC political structures is overdue for incisive examination, open discussion, and REFORM, regardless of political affiliations.
Discussion Forums were SHUT DOWN by TRIBUNE CO in the aftermath of takeover of The Los Angeles Times as those of the OC Register continue, but with participation hardly dynamic in my humble opinion. “Letters to the Editor” of the former seem to come from “editorial writers.” Now we see the manipulative systems of “the media” and “policymakers” so entwined in revolutions of the Libby trial underway. And the public need to know?
Thus The OC Juice? This is a large county and through your blog and honest discussions among a community sharing concerns, there is potential for PROACTIVE REFORM.
For this blog to be productive, there needs to be enforcement of “comment moderation” to ensure that attempts to undermine participation by blatant and reckless insults and assaults even naming individuals by those shrouded IDs is brought to a halt.
There are many of us interested in what other people have to say and with respect for their contribution and participation whether or not we are in agreement.
Just found this site, I was wandering the net in disgust after reading a headline in the Register,”At home here, briefly children await move.” And this in the same week the OL’ Trouble Shooter passed over that last, lonely hill… a lonely wayfarer’s lament.
I enjoy the blog, but have been looking for a way to be able to suggest from time to time topics to the authorized posters/writers on this blog. Is there a way to do that? Perhaps an additional site for “suggested topics” including any pertinent information the suggestor thinks he/she has —
disregard my last letter it got posted thank you
agreed
