Reed and Ahrens targeted for removal from Westminster School Board
The other shoe just dropped in Westminster, where the Our Children-Our Vote Coalition announced yesterday that they are going after James Reed and Judy Ahrens, two of the Westminster School Board Members who voted to fire Dr. KimOahn Nguyen-Lam after first voting to hire her as their new superintendent. I received a press release about this, but it was also covered in the OC Register today.
Reed and Ahrens are Republicans, but they each voted against Nguyen-Lam for different reasons, as discussed previously here at the Orange Juice. Reed, according to inside sources, received more money in his last campaign, from the Westminster Teachers’ Association, than his Democrat peer, Jo-Ann Purcell, who also voted against Nguyen-Lam. Ahern allegedly voted against Nguyen-Lam because the latter has a liberal record, as a school board member in Garden Grove. All three who voted against Nguyen-Lam cited her lack of experience as a superintendent. Perhaps – but then why did they hire her in the first place?
Now they face competition, from Lupe Fisher and Thanh “Tahnee” Phan. I have a feeling there will be two new faces on the Westminster School Board after the upcoming election…
Ahern is a disaster but Reed is a pretty good guy.
When Silvia Mendez shows up to tell the board to do the right thing, you know there’s something rotten happening with the BOE.

Chill out. I don’t think SAPD really cares about political chat on some message board.
I have seen the press kit as well and assuming the coalition’s facts are straight (they cite the California Department of Education), it’s pretty powerful stuff and the data deserves attention. People should ask why kids do so poorly the longer they stay in the district. Why, for example, should parents (and taxpayers) put up with a 75% failure rate in Math by 8th grade?
Why should taxpayers allow the retired teachers lifetime benefits (500% above the norm)? Isn’t this what got the Orange Unified district in deep financial doo-doo?
Why does a hispanic student in this district have a 5 times greater chance of being identified special ed than GATE?
Finally, why should voters allow the board to approve a budget that only funds 17% of the norm for library and other books?
These are questions that deserve public scrutiny and apparently the candidates Lupe Fisher and Tahnee Phan want to do just that.
Are Andy Quach or Van Tran part of this coalition? And I wonder if the pressure on Reed and Ahern will be enough for them to finally tell the public who was the one from above in ther Republican hierarchy that made the call to the board to fire Dr Nguyen Lam.
It is my understanding that Andy and Van have nothing to do with this group. Their spokesperson is Daniel Do Kanh, an attorney with no ties to the Van people.
Van has never been supportive of KimOanh so why start now? He seems more focused on informing seniors about insurance fraud on his website-a worthy issue if he’d only pay attention to his wife’s doings.
Daniel Do Khanh has a law office in Irvine. He’s a DEM but has kept a low profile the past couple of years. Khanh and Tran don’t mix.
Unfortunately, during my criminal trial I have seen all evidence related to my so called paranoid websites and anonymous postings held by DA against me.
I was labeled to the jury as dangerous militia man who is terrorizing his neighborhood. I was not labeled as harmless paranoid loon by the SAPD and DA.
So my free speech was conveniently uplifted from paranoid to terrorist speech by SAPD and DA.
This is perhaps a trademark of how the anonymous undercover SAPD agents work. First you are labeled paranoid with tinfoil hat and when arrested for any reason you become a leader of the Al-Queda.

Look what is happening to Rush Limbaugh and he too was labeling anyone paranoid until it start happening to him. Now he is too paranoid and vowed not to travel via customs until his probation is over.

Van and Kermit Marsh are Close friends. Van Doesn’t want KimOanh Lam to gain any more cloat than him. He asks Kermit to make some phone calls. and there you have are troubles. Its really not that hard to figure out.
I am a Dem and really pissed at the Westminster Teachers Union for screwing this up so much. Reed and Purcells are pawns of the union and pathetic excuses for “trustees.” Judy Ahern is a proud member of the John Birch Society and is really just doing WWJD (What Would John Do.) She is hellbent on destroying the public school system and going back to pre 1954 apartheid America. Jim Reed did not file papers to run for re-election. I guess the Teacher’s Union pulled his funding after he sided with Trustee Judy Ahrens and agreed with her that Dr. KimOnah wasn’t qualified for the job of District Superintendent. Too bad they voted for her in the first place. Still, I’d rather have them admit mistakes and change their mind than have the District hire someone without any prior Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent experience.
