I know you like him Art but he’s a RINO (Republican In Name Only). Better for people to stay home and watch T.V. than reward a RINO with your time.
8:59,
Sadly it seems that most elected Republicans in the OC are RINO’s now. I guess you have to pick the best of a poor crop.
My favorite candidate is Mike McGill. He is a true conservative. The same goes for Lupe Moreno and John Moorlach, of course.
Norby’s a libertarian.
Dear Mike,
Norby is a libertarian when it is convenient to be one. His support of some Big Government candidates tells me his libertarian beliefs are only skin deep. Kris Norby likes to give those rah rah Libertarian speeches to the Blue Haired ladies at the meetings at Denny’s but he and his brother will do whatever they think they need to do to keep power. Including ditching the libertarian beliefs now and then.
Dear Art,
I appreciate your honest responses here.
7:32,
Thank you – I have no interest in accruing any political power for myself, which of course leaves me free to be as honest as I elect to be.
Also, as have said before, our first President, George Washington, did not like the concept of political parties. He preferred to assess each candidate on his respective beliefs and actions. I think he was right.
Are there really that many differences between candidates, for example, like Lou Correa and Lynn Daucher? If anything the latter is more like a Democrat than like a Republican. So why use party labels to describe them? Let’s call them both what they are – pro-government, statist liberals. Correa is a bit less so than Daucher, but neither of them will ever be confused for a Liberterian.
As for Norby, I think that the poster who said that his brother is doing what it takes to hang on to power might be on to something. I don’t doubt that Chris Norby is an idealist, but let’s be honest – staying in power means having to make ugly decisions from time to time, for purely political reasons. Not for me! I rather not have the power in the first place than have to sell out at all…
i kannot reads english bery good so i no vote for kris noby since he wonts to git rid of balots in forign languages. no to noby. go bak to teaching you no friend of imigrants…
8:36,
I commend you for trying to write in a language that you are not fluent in. I also grew up in this country speaking another language and having to learn English. However, that is the point. In this country, we cannot advance without learning the primary language – which is English.
Why do you think so many Filipinos come here and get work right away? They learn English in their schools – not Tagalog.
I agree with Norby that those who vote in this country should do so in English. That means you are going to have to go to school to learn to be more fluent in English. My parents did that, and so can you. The classes are free at most community colleges.
FUNNER?
This from an advocate of English?
Gila,
Ask Gustavo, once a pocho always a pocho! 🙂 I guess English is still my second language…
With DeYoung spending 2 million dollars to try to get a seat on the O.C. board of Supervisors, is it any surprise that the Norby will set his beliefs aside to make sure he hangs on to his?
It’s called power baby. Chris Norby’s power pre board of sup.’s was the power to give one of his students a low grade on an exam and his brother had the power to help someone write a will or create a trust. Now they feel like they are rulers of the free world. That’s why they do it. That’s why they will sell out on ideals to keep it.
What could be funner than hanging with Chris Norby? Crawling over broken glass and eating fried worms for starters.
Norby is a joke. As was pointed out, it is the first time in his or his brother’s lives that anyone has ever paid attention to him. And it will the end the day Chris leaves office.
They were the kids that got stuffed into lockers in HS. And they still are.
Norby (like his compadre McClintock) have the easiest jobs in politics. Be a contrarian to anything that comes along while claiming to support the ‘little guy’. It allows one the opportunity to be vocal without working on bettering through public policy. You don’t have to do anything.
Last September, Norby was the second on the motion that put three initiatives on the ballot that he openly opposed.
You can’t be more of a hypocrite than that.
He is fortunate in that his opponent is a symbol. Rose could close the door and sleep for four years and be more effective than Norby.
I meant to say,
“it is the first time in his or his brother’s miserable lives that anyone has ever paid attention to them.
I’ll proofread more thoroughly in the future.
