Lupe Moreno stars in Texas protest
I have been saying this for months now – Lupe Moreno has a much higher profile than her RINO opponent for the 34th Senate District, Lynn Daucher. Both were in the news this week.
Daucher voted for a slew of bonds that may eventually lead to higher taxes, according to one of her supporters, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, as per his comments in today’s O.C. Register. According to Register columnist Steven Greenhut, Daucher was the “swing vote” on those bonds – and he specifically states that she “voted with the Democrats.” Shame on Daucher – and what a great opportunity for her allegedly conservative supporters to abandon her now before it is too late.
Moreno on the other hand was the subject of a front page story in today’s Register. Moreno flew to Crawford, Texas to participate in a Minuteman protest against President Bush’s weak stance on immigration. The article notes how much support Moreno has – from all over the country.

New voice joins minuteman caravan
DAY 4 IN TEXAS: Minuteman member Cindy Lou of Denton, Texas, right, greets Lupe Moreno of Santa Ana at the
Art,
Lupe Moreno and her family have as much Republican family values credibility as you and your family have Republican non-union integrity, which is not a whole lot. She admits that her father was a smuggler, her husband (or is it ex-husband) is an illegal, she started having babies at age 14, and she
2 pm,
You’re right – Lupe is very representative of the Senate District she is running for. Daucher, on the other hand, is an elitist from Brea who stands out in this area like the proverbial turd in a punch bowl.
By the way, what in the world do you mean by “Republican non-union integrity?” Yes, my wife and I belong to unions, but that has no imprint on our beliefs. I remain a free-market conservative with a libertarian bent.
Dear Anon,
I’ve known Lupe for many years, I’ve worked with Lupe and your gal Daucher is no Lupe! God bless Lupe. She is not afraid of you hateful Anon’s and your mean spirited bloggings. Lupe is fearless. Lupe loves America. Lupe loves life. Lupe does not care what you think of Lupe. Lupe is the friend of the friendless. Lupe makes you feel guilty because she tells the truth. Art is like Lupe in many ways. He does not care what you think of him. He does not need friends like you. He is tough and does not give up. Long after Anon’s like you go back to being the Luke Warm Puke that God warns us about in the Bible, Lupe and Art will continue to add jewels to the crowns they will be wearing in heaven. There’s a place for RINO’s like you who want to be Dem’s but don’t have the courage….It’s hot and dark……I think you know where you are going…Learn to love God, Learn to love Lupe..Turn or Burn!
QUE VIVA LUPE!!!!
Let’s see – Candidate Moreno flies out to Crawford 30 days before a tough Republican primary.
How does this translate into VOTES, VOLUNTEERS, or MONEY here in SD 35?
Now I can see why Art has won so few elections.
Art, If she does not win..Lupe is building awesome name I.D. Run her for Santa Ana City Council…Alberta Chirsty’s termed out seat is a slam dunk or Santa Ana Unified School District. The majority of the voters in Santa Ana like her message but the P.C. crowd won’t let say so. We protest with our votes and Lupe is our Superstar!!!
Dear Anon,
It’s called FREE PUBLICITY and Lupe’s getting lots of it. Lupe’s campaign is more than this election. She is on a crusade….and it ain’t stopping anytime soon. Ducher is wasting her time and money and will get her fanny spanked by the Dem. winner anyway. Lupe will be a thorn in your blogging side for many, many, many, years. Learn to love Lupe..she loves you!
FREE PUBLICITY is not a targeted way to reach Republican voters who turnout in primary elections and who reside in the Senate District.
So on the list of campaign priorities, I’d place it a distant 4th.
I love how easy it is for the “anonymous” to snipe away from behind the wall of internet anonimity.
As if Lupe can help what her father did?
Give me a break!
Alex,
Maybe Lupe couldn
This just goes to show, Lupe is not educated in any other field other than immigration. I have yet to read an article or see her at an event which would pertain solely to another issue besides immigration.
Do we really want a candidate, looking at one issue, and not knowing much about anything else? When Daucher wins the primary, Republicans will either stay home, or vote for the democrat. Either way, Lupe is irrevelent. She does not have the political savvy to win an election and there is only so much Art can do to assist her.
She does do a great job, though, being the Latina poster girl for the minutemen.
If Lupe is as dumb and as much of a loser as all you bloggers think, then why do you spend so much time talking about her. You do because you fear her. Lupe is your worst nightmare, a fearless Republican Latina who will tell it like it is even when the P.C. crowd try to shout her down. Lupe just keeps getting stronger. She feeds off your negative energy and turns it into political power. Here’s my predictions:
Winners: The Dem.’s because Lou wins in Gen.
and Lupe because she will go on to win a seat on the S.A. City Council or school board and will continue to get National Publicity.
Losers: Linn Doucher-Wasting her time and money on a fools folly with no chance to win. In one year NO ONE will remember her name.
Why don’t you guys mention the LA Times piece that had Armando De La Libertad saying “I’m still studying the issue” with respect to the undocumented immigrant drivers license bill and increasing the minimum wage? Can you say rookie?
Don’t pick on Armando…I have not heard Alvarez or Solorio take a stand on the bill working it’s way through the assembly that will add Gay heros to our CA school text books or Gay marriage??? That’s an issue important to me and my partner!
Why don’t you ask each 69th candidate (Don’t you just LOVE living in the 69th!) Where they stand on issues like Gay Rights, Right to Choose, etc…?
Why don’t you think about adding a gay blogger to the pen. Might I suggest Mr. Paul Giles. He is very articulate and well respected in the gay and straight community.
Does Lupe love the homos?
Anon (10:31pm)
Mr. Giles is a great guy, and I am sure he is not only respected in the gay community but the community as a whole as well. Mr. Giles is also running the SA citizens list, which may keep him preoccupied. Since you have posted this comment, I am sure Claudio/Art will read it and possibly contemplate that idea, but ask yourself this…what perspective, will he bring that is already not covered with the current bloggers?
Dear Art,
That
Lupe is not likely to win a city council seat or a school board seat as she is a very polarizing figure. What can she bring to the SAUSD or the city council? Both entities do not deal with immigration.
Based on some of the comments, it seems many think she lost the SAUSD races because she was not known, I would disagree with that as she has been a voice for the anti-immigration community since before the minutemen were even in existence.
Luis–I know this is a Lupe thread but others have noted this blogs silence on the recent LA Times article about the 69th. I find it very interesting that after blogging for some time now taking shots at Alvarez & Solorio and supporting Armando you have been silent about the response of de la Libertad that he was “studying” the drivers license for aliens here without legal documents and silent about the fact that Alvarez supports giving them drivers licenses and Solorio seems to oppose letting them have the licenses. You felt strongly about this issue and I’d like your take on the 3 candidates positions and whether that has changed your mind about support for de la Libertad.
Art intentionally shipped Lupe out of state so she doesn’t have to campaign. If she campaigned Lupe would have to meet and greet voters and once they engaged her in discussion they would learn she is not qualified for any public office.
Remember Art’s meltdown when Lupe met with a blogger on this site? He went girly-balastic.
Lupe’s former husband’s status is not illegal. Lupe concots stories that advance her agenda.
Lupe ran for school board twice and was soundly defeated. She cannot dip into that well; she’s toast.
Bladerunner,
Thank you soo much for taking interest in my thoughts regarding not only local politics but the 69th Assembly race.
I had not responded to that article other than on OCblog asking for the article to verify its authenticity.
Once I read it, I, like you perhaps, was really taken back by it. I immediately emailed Armando, hoping to get a response from him, and I did get just that.
This is his response:
I did not say “study the issue.” The person posting put it in quotes, but the article did not have it in quotes. The reporter’s summary of a brief conversation was paraphrased as ‘study the issue.’ That is NOT my summary. I asked the reporter to give me the details of the specific, hypothetical bill she referenced; when it was clear that we were talking generalities, I simply explained that I would take a position on a SPECIFIC bill. There are some versions of the bill that I would support and some that I wouldn’t. In addition, I explained that ANY position on such a bill should be viewed through a public safety lens. Does that sound like “study the issue” to you?
Since I may not be at liberty to discuss his position on this issue, since I do not want to speak in his stead, suffice to know, Armando and I are probably on the same page when it comes to many issues, including this one.]
My support has not been waivered and I continue to be in Armando’s corner. One where it is free of courruption and misdealings.
Luis–Thank you for the response. It wouldn’t be the first time that a reporter has perhaps not caught the intent of a response. However, what seems strange is that Claudia and Jose were both able to provide specific guidance to the voters as to where they would go–Claudia mentioned a specific bill–the Cedillo bill–that she would support. I’m at a loss as to why Armando could not have done the same, saying he would support it, oppose it, or recommend specific amendments. Jose also was able to articulate a general position without commenting on a specific bill, so I can’t see why Armando could not have done the same. He was also quoted as saying he was “studying” the minimum wage issue—was he misquoted on that too? The other two were clear in supporting an increase. Why couldn’t Armando have added his support to something even many Republicans support? If he was misquoted, did he consider asking for a clarification or correction?
Don’t you think the voters of the 69th deserve to know where Armando stands on these issues before the election?
Nice ending. If you think Jose and Claudia are corrupt its a fair position to take. Corruption trumps drivers licenses and minimum wage. Especially if you have the benefit of knowing Armando’s stands on the issues.
Bladerunner,
You raise a valid points, and I am not sure why Armando did not go more in depth as to his responses. Perhaps it was an error on his behalf. I am not sure to be honest with you.
I dont believe the voters should know where he stands on such issues, and believe me if I were him I would state everything I believe in, perhaps that is why I would not make a good candidate!
I have had some conversations with Armando in the past relative to the current issues, and have a pretty good idea where he stands on many issues, but as I had mentioned in my previos posts, I dont believe I am the person who should be stating them.
As far as Claudia and Jose, I do believe them to be one in the same, since they have almost voted identically on most issues in Santa Ana. Issues which I believe reflect their character and ability to look after themselves before their community.
The sad thing is since Armando has no public record we don’t know how he will vote on anything.
On two important issues Armando took a pass. More proof that he is not ready.
Anon-
Why dont you give him a call and ask him what his position is on the issues important to you, and they you can post them on here? That way you feel more comfortable voting for someone.
Otherwise, it seems you are willing to vote for two candidates having an awful voting record as city council members, over someone at least trying to make change happen? What gives?
The fact is that Armando had a chance to express his views (or choose to qualify the hypothetical provided to him) and he didn’t. Clauida and Jose had no such problem.
Armando can cry foul, but he screwed up. No record and no opinion means no vote.
Anon-
If you were truly interested in making a wise choice in choosing a candidate you would take the initiative and find out what you can about the candidate, instead of resorting to a newspaper. Armando can be reached at 547-VOTE. I have given you an option to be resourceful and make an educated decision as most truly curious voters would do, but you are continuing to discredit Armando. I suggest you state your ulterior motive, rather than make an attempt at making Armando look bad. Do the research, than place judgments. Armando is the better candidate.
Luis, You are the only one writting with your real name. These other political hacks are just that, hacks. I would encourage any undecided Dem to talk to all three. Armando is head and shoulders ( and I don’t mean just in feet and inches) above the other two. You will never know for sure how any of them will vote when they get up there and are kissing up to leadership to get Comm. posts and raising $$$(Look at Correa’s term and flip flop stands on Gay Rights) but Armando is the one I trust.
Armando made himself look bad. It’s a month before the election and he can’t take a stance on important issues. Perhaps, Luis, you can tell your candidate to put out a position paper so he can clarify his response. That makes a lot more sense than having people call him.
Anon (12:46)
I write with my real name because I have no political agenda. I write my own name because I believe in what I do, and therefore can not be ashamed of it. I write with my real name because I want everyone to know there are no ulterior motives. As you have stated Armando is the better candidate, and expect him to come out on top in June.
Anon (12:56)-
You want me to do work for you?? No thanks. You are the interested voter you go find out about the candidates. It is not only your civic duty to vote, but also vote intelligently.
Armando is as accessible to you as he is to me. I have chosen to bother him on issues important to me, I suggest you do the same. I believe you might think I work for him or his campaign, but let me make it clear, I do not.
Luis:
You do have an agenda. That agenda is to get Armando elected even though he won’t take a position on two important public policy issues.
I’m an interested voter and not interested in Armando. He lacks experience, political acumen and political instincts. Based on these factors, I don’t think he’ll be able to represent the 69th AD well. I will not vote for him.
Domingo
Domingo:
You either have never spent any time with Jose and Claudia or part of thier campaign team. Communication is critical in politics and Jose and Claudia get a big fat F grade in that area. Claudia’s accent when she speaks English very difficult for anyone to understand and Jose speaks in whining wimpering hushed tones that also are tough to understand. Armando is a Pro! He speaks strongly with authority and you know what he is saying. Position papers are for your Poly Sci class but not real world politics. Armando is the only good choice.
Domingo,
If you have already made up your mind, why then continue to ask that Armando answer your questions???
The answer is in the question Anon asked you. Your campaign team is in trouble and is just now starting to come out on the blogs. Check out OC Blog and there crew is working hard right now.
Too little too late.
I’ve done a few things in the community with Armando.
He has a problem with follow through. He’ll make commitments, then be unavailable and not communicate.
Add this to his lack of record for elected public service and he’s just a guy looking to get into politics.
If I wanted that, I’d vote for that republican kid.
“Mr. Paul Giles……what perspective, will he bring that is already not covered with the current bloggers?”

Anon (3:00pm)
If thats your take on Armando, that is your choice. You have also stated your positions (sort of) on Ryan Williams, but what makes either Jose or Claudia better than the others?
State your case.
Armando has always been there for our community. Call Armando de la Libertad, Get Armando de la Libertad! Jose and Claudia are so obiously unqualified even for the posts they now hold. Well, Claudia is qualified but gosh darn it, I can’t understand a darn word she says when she opens her mouth! I’m serious, she pretty, she smiles a lot, but what the heck is she saying? Maybe it doesn’t matter. The only time I ever saw Lou Correa was once a year he was raising money or selling something in front of Ralphs by my house but I never heard him talk either. Too bad we can’t take the best of each. Claudia’s good looks, Armando’s business experience and speaking abiltity, and Jose’s ability to speak Spanish and get parks named for Ceasar Chavez. That would be the perfect candidate!
Who should be elected to the 69th and the 34th. Some highbrow outsider? Or someone who has lived here? If 90 percent of the population are/were young teenage breaders and low income families or even single parents. Should not the rep’s be one of those?

I’m tired of this read about Armando, particuarly from Luis. Apparently, Luis has a lot of free time on his hands.
4:15pm
Thank you for your insightful comments…I am glad you have substantial information to add to this topic.
Luis: Is there any blog you don’t post to? I see you spend ample time on this blog and ocblog.net. Whew.
Unlike most of the Gov. hacks who post on these blogs, Luis works for a private company and can make his own ours. He’s not like you guys and gals who punch the clock and race home from your jobs at the County at 5PM. Luis, keep up the good work!
anon at 5:37 pm
You’re a regular snitch. If you cannot present your argument one way or another, then don’t waste the keystrokes.
I agree with lilly. Luis, keep on blogging. Your posts are refreshing even when I disagree with them.
All-
Thanks for your compliments. I understand their are issues we may disagree about, but as long as we hold a cordial, and respectful debate, I believe it is healthy.
Anon-(5:37)
Feel free to call my employer…in fact, I can give you a better number if you would like, but here is an idea…why dont you post a comment in which we can discuss why you support Claudia? That way, your arguments would allow for debate. Your antics are reflective of Claudia’s attitude and the means in which she tries to shut her opponents up, just ask my co bloggers.
Quit the snitching.
Some clown did call my employer and I was cleared after an investigation.
Luis has a wife and child and
should not have to look over his shoulder every time he post an opinion.
Even though we disagree, carry on Luis.
