Janet Nguyen out of a job?
An inside GOP source told me today that Janet Nguyen, the Garden Grove Council member who ran, for a brief time, for the 68th Assembly District, has been let go from her position with the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce. I had my contact call the Chamber to verify this, and they did. She no longer works there.
Who knows why Nguyen and the Chamber are separating, but it is interesting timing given the dashing of her Assembly campaign, once the incumbent in the 68th, Van Tran, pulled out of the race for the 34th Senate District. Since then Nguyen ruffled more conservative feathers by backing RINO Lynn Daucher for the 34th.
I don’t think I have ever seen an up and comer like Nguyen flame out so quickly. Perhaps she will recover from all this, but I know her campaign angered a lot of people when she viciously attacked conservative Jim Righeimer when he too was running for the 68th. That is no way to make friends in the O.C. GOP.
Perhaps Nguyen will land on her feet, but supporting Daucher will cost her the next time she runs for higher office. The conservative base won’t forget about Daucher, or about the abuse heaped on Righeimer by the Nguyen Assembly campaign. If Nguyen runs, as rumored, for the OC Board of Supervisors, if Lou Correa moves on to the State Senate, I expect the GOP base will have nothing to do with her. There will be plenty of other Republican candidates to consider.
Since you have the inside scoop on why political candidates are let go from their day jobs why don’t you tell us why Audrey Noji can’t get appointed president of any junior college in SoCal? She was passed over by Cerritos and SAC.
Interesting tidbit about Janet Nguyen although I can

thanks for the “real Republican” definition.
noji, like rosie, has been on the school board for more than 12 years. it’s time for both to go!
they’re both city puppets who have not served the community well.
Janet or Van Tran or someone OUTSIDE Santa Ana has the inside track on the Correa Supervisor seat when he wins the Senate seat. Too many Santa Ana people have thier eye on it (Carlos Bustamonte, Jose Solorio, and who know how many others) and if one of them cannot clear the field, it will be someone from Garden Grove or Westminster who takes the prize. I remind readers that the last Santa Ana local elected official to be elected to higher office was Santa Ana Mayor Jerry Patterson when he was elected to Congress in the 1970’s! The Santa Ana brand is a curse outside of the city when it comes to voters from other cities. Alvarez make break the curse with her victory in the 69th but it will be tough sledding for the Supervisors seat unless someone can clear the field.
I’ve heard Communitiy College Board member Al Amesqua, Westimster Councilman Kermit Marsh, Santa Ana School Board Member Sal Tinajero, and also Santa Ana Councilman Mike Garcia all as possible candidates for Correa’s vacated seat.
And of course…Let’s not forget that if Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido decides he’s had enough dealing with the light weights on his city council he can run for Supervisor and NONE of the others mentioned above can beat him. The only people who MIGHT give him a race would be a defeated Joe Dunn or a defeated Tom Umberg.
Art, Don’t you think it’s a little tacky to broadcast the fact that someone may have lost thier job? I imagine you have had a few jobs during the last 10 years. The only up side I see is that it may help Janet get a new even better job. She’s a great person and I hope that someone reading this will consider giving her an interview. You will be glad you did!
9:13,
I did agonize about posting this – but Nguyen is a public figure and as such the news is pertinent. Moreover, she is being scrutinized by conservatives very closely, after ripping into Righeimer a few weeks back, and more recently when she opted to back Daucher.
I backed Nguyen for the 68th, but would not have done so if I had known that she was going to be backing Daucher for the 34th Senate District.
Art, did you really agonize, or did you salivate and lick your chops at a chance of using your hatchet yet one more time on a woman whom you view as not being in
What vicious attacks. Janet was a candidate before Jim got in the race. She didn’t do anything to him.
How do you know she lost her job? Perhaps she left to start her own business.
former Anaheim mayor, now County Clerk Tom Daly will run for Lou Seat in Lou loses. And he will win,
Former anaheim mayor Tom Daley would win in a landslide.
