Carona’s troubles mounting
This has been yet another bad week for Carona. Yesterday the O.C. Register reported that a secretary who still works for the Sheriff’s Department can sue Carona for harassment. Apparently her complaints about George Jaramillo, Carona’s former best friend and top aide, were ignored by Carona. You can read the details at http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/homepage/article_1102016.php.
More details about Jaramillo’s wild helicopter rides are now available at http://blogs.ocregister.com/buzz/archives/2006/04/flash_in_the_pan_1.html. The tales are hilarious – and underscore just how stupid it was for Carona to hire Jaramillo in the first place. He was of course warned not to by people inside his department and outside as well.
Carona is now trying to lay the blame for everything at Jaramillo’s doorstep, but let’s face it – Carona waited too long to fire him. And I am not sure that Jaramillo was the one who decided to hand out reserve deputy badges to political contributors. I think Carona’s other top aide, Don Haidl, was responsible for that great idea. Haidl, like Jaramillo, no longer works for “Ameria’s Top Cop,” but I have also heard from top sources that Carona was warned not to hire him as well.
Carona got some good news when criminal charges against one of his captain’s were dropped after she promised to write letters of regret to department employees she had previously solicited for campaign donations. She will also have to serve forty hours of community service, ironically at the Voter Registrar’s office, and she will have to assist an ongoing internal-affairs probe into the issue, according to the O.C. Register, at http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/local/article_1105233.php. I wonder if that probe will ultimately finger Caronista Capo Mike Schroeder?
Schroeder and Carona’s other hack Jon Fleischman also engineered a victory of sorts when they used the O.C. GOP Endorsement Committee to give Carona another chance at the party endorsement at Monday’s Central Committee meeting. I wonder though if the effort will only serve to anger more Central Committee members? Sruely Schroeder and Fleischman should have recused themselves from voting on the matter, given their roles in Carona’s campaign? Stay tuned…
Art,
Could you provide the time and location where you will be walking on water tomorrow?
I’m not sure why 2:12 thinks Art is acting messianic, but I must say I’m glad not all Republican bloggers in OC are blind Carona followers.
Gila is correct. Hunt has many Republican bloggers in OC that are blind followers.
Hunt has many Republican bloggers in OC that are blind followers.
I haven’t seen any yet!
OTOH, over on OC Blog they practically believe Carona rose from the dead today.
The only thing Mike Schroeder and Jon Fleischman have recused themselves from is straight talk, honest and upright behavior, placing the what’s best for the OCGOP above what’s best for their own pockets and lastly, doing the right thing.
“Carona’s troubles mounting”
Based on the grand jury transcripts, seems like troubles wern’t the only thing “mounting”…
I was thinking something along similar lines –
Carona has trouble with lots of things, but “mounting” doesn’t seem to be one of them.
