Orange Juice adds its first female co-blogger!
Our blog team is growing again – in response to the growing demand for female representation on our commentator squad, Bernedette Medrano has stepped up and offered to add her pen to the mix.
For those of you who may not know Medrano, she is the Executive Director of the Santa Ana Education Foundation (www.saefforkids.org). Medrano is accordingly an expert on education and her unique perspective will be a great addition to our blog.
Claudio Gallegos and I would be happy to add other female commentators – if you are willing to blog with your real name, not an assumed identity, and are well-versed in local politics, and experienced in writing, we would be happy to consider you for our blog cadre. You may email me at apedroza@earthlink.net if you would like to be considered as such.
Thank you Bernedette for filling a void here at the Orange Juice! I know that we will all be looking forward to your contributions.
Wow! Talk about a quick turn around! I only wish local government worked as quickly! Welcome to Ms. B and way to go Claudio and Art!!!!!
Can you still try to get an invite out to Nadia Maria Davis Lockyear to Blog here? She knows O.C., served here as an elected official, dad was well known in Latino circles, married to the CA AG, and like I said before, she is so smokin’ hot looking I’d check back to your site more often just to see if she had posted any photos of herself. Come on Nadia!!!!
Welcome Bernadette!!!
I can’t wait to hear what you post regarding education. As a former education, I would love to discuss important issues facing the districts.
Welcome aboard
Anon,
Nadia Davis-Lockyer is a very intelligent, bright, and skilled woman. It would be an honor to add her if she wished. Thank you for the compliments.
But please be tasteful in your review of her aesthetic appearance. It demeans women. She is a pretty young woman, but that is getting a little tasteless. People, when talking about someone’s physical appearance(bad or good) keep some semblance of taste. We will remove such posts in the future.
sorry Claudio. Commie Girl at OC Weekly has had a running joke about Nadia being one of the most beautiful elected officials in the OC. I don’t think most women mind being complimented on their looks and brains. She’s bright and attractive. I don’t think that is a bad thing but it’s your site.
Your comment now was classy and complimentary. I agree with you and COmmie Girl. There is a right way to express the thought and the wrong way. Thank you for being such an adult about it and finding the right way with this post.
Commie Girl pulls some stuff off in a way only SHE can. The rest of us will never be anything more than pale imitations…
Gotta love Commie Girl – even though she thinks I’m a troglodyte.
Quick story about Nadia – I ran against her and John Palacio in 1998, for the Santa Ana School Board. My campaign manager promptly developed a crush on her. What a mess that was! Oh well, at least she went on to a bigger stage as Mrs. Lockyer.
Claudio and I are excited about the new additions to our blog. We are also going to be adding, quite possibly, one more female blogger, from the south county area. We don’t mess around at the Orange Juice – and we’re certainly not afraid of change…
I agree with Missy that there is only one Commie Girl. I’m a yellow dog Republican but I’d rather spend 20 minutes with C.G. than 1 hour with the President Bush. I’ve met them both and she is a lot more interesting!
That’s what we gals do best – fill voids!
