Is the GOP resurfacing in Central Orange County?
The O.C. Register reported a few days ago that thanks to Orange County GOP Chairman Scott Baugh, and the New Majority, Republican registration in Central O.C. is way up – and now several legislative districts are in play, particularly the 34th Senate District. Interestingly, the numbers favor a Latino candidate in that district. However, I still think that Van Tran will be the GOP’s best candidate. We just don’t have a Latino candidate ready to go.
However, the Democrats have one – Lou Correa. Tom Umberg better start looking for another job. If Correa runs, he will wipe out Umberg, just as he took out Jim Morrissey a few years back. Correa will be a dangerous candidate because of his support in Sacramento. I can only hope that Lynn Daucher will not overly weaken Tran in the primary.
