First, an apology. Chumley has noted that the photo of Bill Cook flipping off the camera — being fed up with vicious lies told about him — was taken not by him, but by a photographer for the vanity newspaper put out by his de facto client and boss Larry Agran, whose attention and affection (and money?) Chumley craves so deeply that it’s painful to watch.
It’s hard to tell Agran’s flacks apart sometimes, and I regret the error. I also regret that Chumley seems not to know much about “fair use” of photos, such as that when the photo becomes the story (as it has, thanks largely to him), one can use it for purposes of commentary. And here’s a comment: Bill Cook was entirely justified in sending this message to Larry Agran and his goons.
Chumley’s point reminded me that there was one more thing that I had wanted to do before Election Day was over, and that is to remind people that LARRY AGRAN IS A PETTY, SELFISH, FRAUD WHO DOESN’T CARE IF NO VETERANS CEMETERY IS BUILT AT ALL SO LONG AS HE GETS HIS VENGEANCE ON THE PEOPLE WHO RAN HIS SORRY ASS OUT OF OFFICE.
Don’t take MY word for it. And certainly don’t take the word of the OCGOP for it; they’ve always hated him.
Take the word of the people who know him best and — until now — have always supported him: the Democratic Party of Orange County.
The DPOC has condemned Agran’s lying tactics when it comes to his attempt to tear down the temple altogether if the Veterans Cemetery cannot be used to gain his petty revenge against Five Point. What insane sort of leadership is THAT? Agran has squandered a lifetime’s worth of good will within his own party with his lying about the veteran’s cemetery this year — enough so that the Democratic Party of Orange County itself twice rebuked him for his tactics.
Again: the Democratic Party of Orange County itself twice rebuked AGRAN for his tactics in fighting Measure B. He was refused for his selfish, petty, dishonest tactics that attempted to prevent the Democratic Party — the first to embrace the cause of a veterans cemetery in Irvine — from standing behind veterans.
Agran would rather see the whole project crash if he can’t get his way. It’s disgusting. His own party recognized it as disgusting — and that’s not an easy accomplishment for someone who — in his prime, before he starting leading his party to defeat in cycle after cycle of Irvine elections — had a lock on its good will. (I’d like to think that he’s changed — that perpetual defeat twisted and hardened him, but it’s hard to say.)
Now voters can rebuke him as well — and BRING A VETERANS CEMETERY TO IRVINE rather than to bring disgrace. Come out and vote for what will eventually be Irvine’s signature landmark TODAY.
Again, my apologies to Chumley for thinking that he had taken a competent photograph and my thanks for reminding me to remind people to COME OUT AND VOTE YES ON B! Come stand with BOTH parties — and everyone else who cares to honor veterans.
STAND WITH YOUR PARTY, DEMOCRATIC OR REPUBLICAN — AND WITH VETERANS!
Greg, You were among Larry’s biggest defenders when he wasted the GREAT Park money.
Hypocrite
And I’m guessing that you’re one of “Larry’s biggest defenders” now. The worst fear of a bullshitter is that someone who they thought to be safely hooked wriggles off the hook: that was the start of the conflict between Chumley and me.
I bought into the story that Chumley was vending at the time about how Agran hadn’t done anything wrong and the Solar Decathlon was going to fix it all anyway. Then, in order: first, I learned that Dan was a bullshitter and I stopped defending his bullshit. Then, I believed that Agran & Co. were simply unlucky. Then, I came to believe that Forde & Mollrich — who were the one’s making lots of money off of a consulting gig with the Great Park (which was somehow justified by their finding the Solar Decathlon opportunity) — were just going rogue under Agran’s lack of supervision and oversight. Now, we’ll, having gone up against Agran on Measure B I have no idea about the true depths of his depravity.
Having been conned and admitting it is not “hypocrisy,” you chickenshit.
I will say this, though: the Weekly has written about how the focus of Power within OC’s Democratic Party used to be Pulido, Agran, and Broadwater, all of whom were tight with Rackauckas — and that’s a pretty good summary of the most common obsessions of OC’s anonymous troll legionnaires, of which you seem to be a member. So don’t expect to get fished out of the trash too often, as I did here.
This is an intelligence test for Irvine voters.
Please don’t fail.
Irvine Failed. ®
I guess no one learned from the $200,000,000 great park failure.
Enjoy more beige condos, Irvine.
Fast forward 3 months and the city will be saying “it all got so complicated, we just had to let it be another Walmart instead.” Just like they planned.
Months, not weeks?
Well, we do need a Walmart and more grocery stores, separate from the issue of where to site the Veterans cemetery.
*Colonel Larry…..Congratulations dude! Congratulations to the Chinese, Korean, Hispanic and some intelligent Caucasians that voted NO and went the Agran Way! No Strawberry Alarm Clock, No Strawberry Fields, No Raspberries, Strawberries and Yogurt! There is still hope the Walt Ehlers and his bride will find their final resting place…..right here in the Great Bark! Thank you Larry Agran….you did good in spite of all the Sex, Lies and Videotapes thrown at you! We will never forget the kindness you showed us when we attended one of your City Council Meetings when you were Mayor. You answered the hard questions and showed great respect. Very attractive! It was a sizable victory at the 16K to 9K! Make it GO Daddy….Vote NO! And the people did!
When I say Irvine failed an intelligence test, this is exactly what I mean.
*You bury your buddies where you want to and we will bury our buddies where
we want to!
I”m not an “Agranista” – never voted for the man, nor am I a vet. I don’t care where the vet cemetery is located. To this Irvine voter, this land swap was nothing more than a developer power play by Fox, Shea and Wagner who have clearly been bought. No one in their right minds would value 125 acres in the middle of Irvine for $4m unless they had something to gain from the swap. If they really wanted a vet cemetery in Irvine, then they should have at least valued that land accordingly. The swap probably would not have been defeated and the city could have had a few extra pennies in the coffers to actually build the great park. They all need to go.
The Veterans’ Cemetery is coming to Anaheim Hills. The veterans are tired of Irvine using them as a political football.
I’m not sure why a cemetery out there wouldn’t be an ecological mess.
On the El Toro base? Or in our Hills?
In the canyon.
