IRVINE – YES ON B! Even the Dem Party Rejected Selfish Petty Agran’s Lying Scheme!

Will Irvine’s King Lear/Ahab defeat the Veteran’s Cemetery today?  Come out and stop him!

First, an apology.  Chumley has noted that the photo of Bill Cook flipping off the camera — being fed up with vicious lies told about him — was taken not by him, but by a photographer for the vanity newspaper put out by his de facto client and boss Larry Agran, whose attention and affection (and money?) Chumley craves so deeply that it’s painful to watch.

It’s hard to tell Agran’s flacks apart sometimes, and I regret the error.  I also regret that Chumley seems not to know much about “fair use” of photos, such as that when the photo becomes the story (as it has, thanks largely to him), one can use it for purposes of commentary.  And here’s a comment: Bill Cook was entirely justified in sending this message to Larry Agran and his goons.

  (So thanks, Dan!)

Chumley’s point reminded me that there was one more thing that I had wanted to do before Election Day was over, and that is to remind people that LARRY AGRAN IS A PETTY, SELFISH, FRAUD WHO DOESN’T CARE IF NO VETERANS CEMETERY IS BUILT AT ALL SO LONG AS HE GETS HIS VENGEANCE ON THE PEOPLE WHO RAN HIS SORRY ASS OUT OF OFFICE.

Don’t take MY word for it.  And certainly don’t take the word of the OCGOP for it; they’ve always hated him.

Take the word of the people who know him best and — until now — have always supported him: the Democratic Party of Orange County.

The DPOC has condemned Agran’s lying tactics when it comes to his attempt to tear down the temple altogether if the Veterans Cemetery cannot be used to gain his petty revenge against Five Point.  What insane sort of leadership is THAT?  Agran has squandered a lifetime’s worth of good will within his own party with his lying about the veteran’s cemetery this year — enough so that the Democratic Party of Orange County itself twice rebuked him for his tactics.

Again: the Democratic Party of Orange County itself twice rebuked AGRAN for his tactics in fighting Measure B.  He was refused for his selfish, petty, dishonest tactics that attempted to prevent the Democratic Party — the first to embrace the cause of a veterans cemetery in Irvine — from standing behind veterans.

Agran would rather see the whole project crash if he can’t get his way.  It’s disgusting.  His own party recognized it as disgusting — and that’s not an easy accomplishment for someone who — in his prime, before he starting leading his party to defeat in cycle after cycle of Irvine elections — had a lock on its good will.  (I’d like to think that he’s changed — that perpetual defeat twisted and hardened him, but it’s hard to say.)

Now voters can rebuke him as well — and BRING A VETERANS CEMETERY TO IRVINE rather than to bring disgrace.  Come out and vote for what will eventually be Irvine’s signature landmark TODAY.

Again, my apologies to Chumley for thinking that he had taken a competent photograph and my thanks for reminding me to remind people to COME OUT AND VOTE YES ON B!  Come stand with BOTH parties — and everyone else who cares to honor veterans.

STAND WITH YOUR PARTY, DEMOCRATIC OR REPUBLICAN — AND WITH VETERANS!

About Greg Diamond

Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that. Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too. He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.) His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
