Anaheim Insider Vern here. I wasn’t able to be at the January 12 Anaheim council meeting where Jordan Brandman, Lucille Kring, and Kris Murray suddenly and without explanation backed off their obstructionism regarding “The People’s Map” for district elections and the sequencing of which district got to vote first. (Some observers suspect that their change of heart, dictated by emergency phone texts to them on the dais, was motivated by pro-democracy forces’ credible threat to stage a huge protest outside of the NAMM convention.) But I did see the meeting online, and was inspired to write this historical ditty about it, enjoy!
Were you there when the Kleptos caved? Were you there when the Kleptos caved?
Chuchua, Mirvette, and Doug Pettibone were there when the Kleptos caved!
Were you there when the Kleptos caved? When the People’s Map rose from the grave?
Becerra and Güera and Marisol were there when the Kleptos caved!
Lucille was the first to drop.
She said “For Christ’s sake just make this stop!”
As she flipped her vote I heard Jordan squeal:
“You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille!”
Then Kris questioned Dr. Moreno.
After that she couldn’t very well say no.
As she discoursed on her change of heart,
She sounded like Ada Briceño!
Were you there when the Kleptos caved? Were you there when the Kleptos caved?
Dark Maniels, Cynthia and Bengochea were there when the Kleptos caved!
Were you there when the Kleptos caved? When Democracy got saved?
Both Victorias and both Donaldsons were there when the Kleptos caved!
Jordan was the last to crack.
Seeing no-one else had his back,
When his house of cards came tumbling down,
He behaved like a Democrat!
Were you there when the Kleptos caved? When the People’s Map rose from the grave?
Yesenia, LeTourneau, Greg Diamond, and too many more to mention were there when the Kleptos caved!
Were you there when the Kleptos caved? When Democracy got saved?
From the Hills to Beach Boulevard they clapped and cheered when the People made the Kleptos cave,
When the People made the Kleptos cave!
Sí se puede, Anaheim!

This is your Weekend Open Thread – discuss this or that or that other thing, with all the decorum and dignity you can muster.
Great tune.
Ha! Ha!
The Hill reported that the polls indicate Clinton leads Bernie in the SC polls by a full 50 percentage points. Why do so many dems support Clinton with all that baggage she carries? Bizarre.
I think the strategy that Bernie used in his campaign was flawed. Clinton has so many weak points and Bernie failed to capitalize on them. He was way too polite. Nice people don’t win elections in America.
It makes me wonder whether Bernie was even in the race to win? 2016 was a perfect opportunity for a dem of real substance to enter the POTUS race and have a great chance to get the nomination. Perhaps this was all cut and dried long before the 1st dem primary. Maybe the decision was made far in advance and predetermined. Did each candidate have his or her little bit part in the play to ultimately crown Hillary?
Contrast the dem race with the pub race. Like night and day. The pub race is turning into a real knock-down, drag out slugfest. Nothing wimpish about it. When you run for POTUS you should expect some major resistance.
Hillary got a huge pass from her opponents. I expected more. She won’t get a pass as the nominee. And not being battle tested will be a huge disadvantage for her.
So Jean-Marie Le Pen, the former leader of France’s Front National , a far-right party that campaigns mostly on anti-immigration policies, would vote for Trump.
At least he did not accept the endorsement of the Ku Klux Klan David Duke.
Marco calling Trump a con artist, wetting on his pants, is minor to the comparison to Hitler, being done by two former Mexican presidents.
Rubio is a desperate man. Desperate men say desperate things. If you look at Rubio’s actual voting record in the Senate then listen to him on the campaign trail, it seems like 2 separate individuals. Rubio simply can’t be trusted. He has no credibility.
Have you seen the personal financial decisions that Rubio has made in his life with his home purchase and credit cards? Do your research. You want him to have veto power when it comes to our Nation’s finances? God forbid.
And what do you expect the Mexican Presidents to say? Trump wants to hold them accountable for using America as their perpetual safety valve to offload their indigent and illiterate populations. No wonder they’re mad. They won’t be able to send all their undesirables to the north any longer under Trump’s leadership.
How many times has Trump been involved in bankruptcy again?
You’re asking me a question so I’ll answer it. I only ask that you do the same in the future when I ask you a question. It’s only fair.
Trump has been involved in literally thousands of business deals in his lifetime. He turned a million dollars into multi-billions of dollars. According to the pundits, Trump has filed for bankrupcy 4 times. The majority, as I understand, occurred in the gambling city of Atlantic City during the meltdown. So Trump has an excellent financial record – if you look at his business record objectively. If you don’t, well, that’s a different story.
Who has Rubio ever hired in his lifetime except for his congressional staff who are paid with other people’s money? Rubio really has no business speaking of Trump’s bankrupcies when he has a hard time controlling his credit card accounts or cutting deals with lobbyists who purchased his home way over market value. 🙂
Oh, I see that the NY Times reported that in 2013 Rubio colluded with Fox News to soft peddle his Gang of 8 Amnesty Bill to give it a better chance of passing. He brought Ailes and Murdoch on board and interfered with objective news reporting. Is that they kind of guy people want in the White House? A politician who meddles in the media and tries to alter the outcome of published news reports to the American people? I don’t. The media is supposed to be our final line of defense against tyranny, next to public unrest. When politicians use their influence to interfere in media affairs it is a very dangerous matter that places the Nation in harm’s way. Go ask the former citizens of the Soviet Union if you doubt what I say.
Hmmm. Interesting. Four bankruptcies, some associated with gambling.
If you ask me, that sounds like a great fit . . . for Congress.
Boy, you’re long on spin short on facts, aren’t ya?
That’s the reason I don’t particularly like discussing much of anything with you. You always take us off on your imaginary diversions.
Earth to Ryan. Gambling cities got hit hard during the 2008 meltdown. Trump owned businesses in gambling cities. So Trump took a hit. One of the few times during his 1000’s of business deals that made him a multi-billionaire.
Owning a business in a gambling town is like owning a business anywhere. It’s all about making money. And that’s what Trump is good at. So good, in fact, that he doesn’t need to take $225,000 from Goldman Sachs and the other Too Big To Fail banks for an hour talk and future promises. 🙂
What has Rubio ever gambled on other than a lobbyist buying his home for many thousands over market and nobody finding out about it??? 🙂
Four bankruptcies. That is a fact.
Doesn’t matter…Donald Trump is going to be the Republican Klandidate for President.
Have fun losing again!
I’ll tell you right now. If the POTUS election is Clinton vs. Trump – Clinton is going to get hammered. She’s carrying way too much baggage. Trump will eat her alive on national TV.
Did you notice how quickly Hillary piped down a few months ago after she accused Trump of being sexist? Trump just lambasted her (and her husband) and that was the end of that.
Hillary stands no chance against Trump.
Mark my words.
To give you an idea of where I stand on politics – if Bernie Sanders ran against the likes of a John McCain or even a Mitt Romney – I could actually pinch my nose and vote for Bernie. I respect the man for his stance against big money. I truly do.
But Hillary? Knowing that she should be facing prison time for her little email scandal and knowing how deep in bed she is with Wall Street – unless you stuck needles under my fingernails no way could I vote for her. I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the mirror in the morning. She’s a real bottom feeder.
Don’t worry, you’re not discussing anything with anyone. Just more “discussion” with yourself.
Cheers.
“Democracy got saved” ? Perhaps 60% saved. I’ll be sure to replay this if Vanderbilt (or Murray) should move out of their “District of residence” (vs “their District”) before 2018 and the head-scratching ensues. Read section 503 of the Charter, particularly the words “shall be filled without regard to District residency” (and the distressed District residents will be helpless, since the Appointing Council Members ARE NOT IN THEIR DISTRICT! “Consequences ? What’s that in Anaheim? A word in the dictionary!”) Boy, a pair of Nike’s are more expensive than their stock. Nice tune, though.
Yeah, a little bit of hyperbole … for a song.
Yeah, I guess “poetic license” DOES have a musical equivalent. Having tried (and failed !) a few times to mix thoughts and music, I have a respect for those who make composing (and performing) look easy (because unlike me, they know and practice their craft). Unsure if “perception becomes reality” – just leaving a footnote for when November events unfold, but judging from the deafening wall of silence from the West end on the issue, so far “distressed residents” is probably me and 3 other folks. We’ll see then.
Since it’s WOT, some Nike – shopping music!
*Hillary’s Victory Speech in South Carolina tonight was a mega-classic. It brought tears to our eyes. She is on the way to the Presidency without a doubt.
You would think tears would be saved for the fact that, by the time the “primaries” reach THIS State (June 7th – yet American Samoa is March 1st !), OUR votes will probably make little difference. (WHY is CA’s political nickname “The ATM State” ?)
http://www.uspresidentialelectionnews.com/2016-presidential-primary-schedule-calendar/
….”Look ! It’s a BIRD ! It’s a PLANE ! No, it’s a SUP-PER-Delegate ! More powerful than a hanging chad ! Able to leap tall primaries with a single bound !……”
Brandman did not completely cave in. He is running for District 3….I’m looking forward to Greg’s analysis of this development.
On a different subject, It looks like that the APD did not take today’s KKK demonstration seriously enough. Perhaps the stabbings could’ve been prevented if adequate police presence had been available.
So poor Gail Eastman has a big, dirty Pringle handprint on her back as she contemplates her future under the bus.
Ah, well, the price of abject and brainless servitude.
Cheer up ! Maybe it’s one of the routes OCTA cancelled! lol.
^^^ #skadoosh
Actually, I WAS cheered up!
Yes, “I feel sorry for” and “Gail Eastman” are two things you will never hear in the same sentence. Eh, except for this one.
Did anyone else read Edward Snowden’s tweet today w/ his impression on the elections?
“2016: a choice between Donald Trump and Goldman Sachs” 🙂
Hillary has been receiving one-hour speaker fees of $225k to $285k from all the Too Big To Fail banks. She’s presented to Goldman Sachs on at least 3 separate occasions at those prices. And she refuses to release the transcripts of her presentations. Looks like she’s preparing to run the best government that money can buy.
Despite being banished from the Country for exposing the government spying on millions of innocent Americans it appears that Snowden has maintained a sense of humor. That’s a good sign.
Judging from the mindset of the American electorate and their disgust with establishment “play for pay” politicians who have soiled the character of our Nation, if Trump added Snowden as VP to his ticket I bet he’d get 80% of the popular vote. 🙂
“Since 2013 Hillary’s grand total is slightly less: $21.7 million for 92 private appearances.”
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-02-27/snowden-sums-presidential-campaign-just-one-tweet
“…it appears that Snowden has maintained a sense of humor.”
Seeking refuge from American tyranny in China and Russia, that was never in doubt.
I think he was TRYING to get to South America, and then had to make the best of things, no?
Snowden has more balls that all of Congress combined.
I don’t use the word “hero” lightly. It’s been bastardized heavily in recent years.
But if you are a true believer in liberty and you despise tyranny – and you believe in the values that America was founded upon – then you must agree that “hero” and Snowden are closely aligned.
Look, if you believe he should be imprisoned – fine. You have that right. Many would agree with you.
But the man sacrificed his former high paying gravy job and very comfortable lifestyle in Hawaii – and his relationship with his GF for his love for Country. Snowden is a smart man. He knew the consequences of his actions. But even when faced with the fear of losing everything he had – he did it anyway.
For the love of God – give the man the credit he deserves!
If not for Snowden NSA would still be violating the 4th Amendment and spying on innocent citizens at will.
He made the government blink and look over its shoulder. One man.
Snowden may have been thinking about this 2013 statement: “”This guy is a bad guy,” Trump said. “You know there is still a thing called execution. You really have thousands of people with access to the kind of material like this. We’re not going to have a country any longer.”
I don’t know if Trump said that. And if he did say it I don’t know if he said it about Snowden. And those 3 consecutive sentences are disjointed and doesn’t really complete a full thought. So I question whether it was said exactly the way you quoted it.
However, in the event that Trump did make this statement about Snowden in the way that he did (hinting that Snowden would be a candidate for execution) I completely disagree with him on this issue.
That said, I disagree with people who I like or even admire quite often. But the disagreement does not prohibit me from liking or admiring them.
It’s the level of disagreement on a multitude of issues that determines whether I would give someone my vote or not.
Btw, Ricardo. Snowden’s tweet seems to be an obvious slighted remark toward Hillary, unless I’m reading it wrong.
If you read it another way – let me know. Maybe you detect something I don’t.
Thank you.
Trump called for a boycott of Apple and Snowden tweeted “Can we boycott Trump instead?” Go to his page and you’ll see it dated Feb. 19.
I see the tweet you highlighted as observing that, to his mind, they’re BOTH terrible candidates.
It appears as a remark against Hillary, and my reading is that Snowden may have been influenced by his hosts.
I am surprised that Snowden’s closest supporters, Greenwald and his team, haven’t reacted to his tweet yet. It seems that Trump has not acknowledged it either. It will be interesting to see whether he distances himself from the 2013 execution statement, and whether he has positively reevaluated Snowden’s. He wouldn’t be the first person to reconsider Snowden’s actions.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/24/donald-trump-edward-snowden-execution_n_3489944.html
On a second thought, Anon’s reading of both being terrible candidates makes sense. I don’t think that Snowden has an overall sympathy for Trump’s positions.
We really don’t know what Snowden meant in reference to Trump. All he did was mention his name. But we know what he meant regarding Hillary. Obviously, he doesn’t like her.
But it’s just one man’s opinion. It doesn’t matter what Snowden thinks of Trump – I will always have tremendous respect for Snowden.
So to recap…
It matters to you what Snowden thinks of Hillary, but not what he thinks of Trump.
That’s kinda weird.
And that Hillary benefited from Wall St, but not Trump.
I quoted Snowden since he happened to be in the Zerohedge article on Hillary’s financial connections with the Wall Street banks. If Kobe Bryant said it I would have likely quoted him too. The crux of my point was that Hillary is swimming in bankster money.
There’s a big difference between Hillary’s financial connections with Wall Street and Trumps. Hillary is a politician who engages in ‘play for pay’. She takes money from Wall Street and then is indebted to their interests.
OTOH, Trump is a private builder. Must he work with banks as a businessman? Of course. We all have to work with banks to one degree or another in our society. Those who own businesses must engage at a deeper level. But, to my knowledge, Trump hasn’t taken a dime of Wall Street money to run his campaign. He hasn’t made any $225,000 presentations to the Too Big To Fail banks. If you know otherwise, please inform us with your proof source.
And thank you for your comments.
But he has taken billions in loans and benefited tremendously through “artificially low” interest rates. Just who’s side do you think he’s on?
If you’re seriously counting dollars, Trump owes WAY more to Wall St than Hillary.
That’s a silly response.
So it’s Donald Trump’s fault that The Fed (with support of Obama and Congress) has kept interest rates artificially low for the last 8 years? 🙂
Is Trump supposed to borrow money for his construction projects from foreign nations where interest rates may be higher?
Trump organizes billion dollar projects. Is he supposed to hone down the capital costs on his projects because The Fed and the politicians have taken deliberate action to keep interest rates ridiculously low?
Your conclusion that Trump, a businessman and builder, owes more money to Wall Street than Hillary may be correct. After all, Trump is a businessman who does billion dollar construction projects. However, when we count how much in payments (legal bribes) that Hillary has taken from the Wall Street banks, by comparison Trump is a microscopic amoeba. 🙂
I see you’re back to your diversionary tactics again. This will end my conversation with you on this subject matter.
Fast and loose with diversionary, son.
My point is Trump has a significant stake in the status quo. If you expect things to change (specifically how the global financial system works), he’s not your guy.
You’ve advocated for some serious change. I don’t see how backing a clown helps you achieve the change you desire.
That’s pretty on point, irrespective of how you’d like to slice.
I know there’s quite a lot of interest in the City of Anaheim on this blog.
Did any of you happen to read the Register article on the violence at Pearson Park during a civil demonstration by 6 apparent Klan members? A video of the violence accompanied the article, so you can actually watch the acts of violence, which were quite alarming.
Apparently it involved 6 alleged Klan members and about 30 counter-protesters. So the Klan group was heavily outnumbered.
Why weren’t the police actively monitoring this situation? Obviously it had a great propensity for violence. Apparently the demonstrations were announced days or weeks in advance. I understand 3 people were stabbed during the melee.
Few people are fond of the Ku Klux Klan. The history of the organization is deplorable. But in America even the KKK has a constitutional right to assemble and demonstrate their convictions. That’s still a part of America that is simply beautiful Country.
Based on the video it appeared that the violence came from the counter-protesters. Since there were only 6 Klan members it’s doubtful they would take on a group of 30 unless it was done in self-defense or they were just plain crazy.
I think the City of Anaheim leaders should start asking questions about how this situation was allowed to leave the rails and result in some serious injuries. A big part of police work is to keep the peace. At first glance it looks as if they failed in this particular instance.
Time for some introspection, Anaheim!
According to this APD press release:
“The Anaheim Police Department was aware of both the planned KKK protest as well as the counter protest. As such, a contingent of personnel were dedicated to the event. Those officers were on scene immediately as the violence erupted and called for additional personnel”…
….We will always honor free speech in Anaheim, but we vehemently reject hate and violent confrontation,” Mayor Tom Tait said. “Anaheim is proud to draw strength in its diversity, tolerance and kindness, and Saturday’s events run counter to that. I want to thank the Anaheim Police Department for the critical role they played to protect lives and quickly restore peace.”
So it appears that Tait is covering for the cops. If the cops knew about the planned demonstrations well in advance and realized it was a contentious gathering that involved the KKK and were present why did they lose control of the situation and why did so many people get hurt? Go watch the video that accompanied the Register article. It was vicious. None of that should have been allowed to happen if the police were present. And if they weren’t present they were in dereliction of their duty to society.
What’s even more hateful than violent confrontation is when the police don’t do their jobs in order to stop it. We pay them generously to keep the peace. When they don’t we should feel cheated.
But thank you for the quoted blurbs, Ricardo. Much of it doesn’t make any sense to me. It was counterintuitive. But it was informative and much appreciated.
I’ll have a piece on the KKK’s bogus Anaheim journey in a day or two. It’ll include Dan C.’s excellent defense of the John Birch Society.
I can’t wait to read it.
I understand that 5 of the arrested alleged KKK members were released from jail since the cops finally figured out that they were the ones attacked and acted in self-defense. I thought that the cops were at the scene of the melee? Did they think that their eyes were lying to them?
I thought that the video that accompanied the Register article was pretty self-explanatory.
I believe in the US Constitution. I believe that any man, woman or child who harbors any ideological or religious belief should be able to express that belief in the public arena without fear of physical harm.
Look, none of us like the KKK. None of us like their history. But like all Americans they have the legal right to express their beliefs (within the limits of the law) and we have the obligation (at least those of us who truly believe in American values) to defend their right to say it.
Let’s be civilized and treat everyone equally under the law and protect them from harm while exercising their lawful rights. It’s always been the American way. Don’t stop now.
I was waiting for it, but I couldn’t see how he could manage it. He didn’t do it very nimbly, but Kleptpblog tied the KKK story to the “leftists” who brought districts to Anaheim.
Oh, and how can we expect the cops to do their jobs when we complain about their militarization?
“Oh, and how can we expect the cops to do their jobs when we complain about their militarization?”
Yeah, as long as we pay them well over $200,000 a year in compensation to perform duties that includes to keep the peace we should certainly expect it. If they don’t want to do their jobs then quit and go sell insurance or something.
Not doing their jobs predicated upon (according to your theory) being resentful because people don’t want our local police to look like a division of Marines entering Fallujah to take out ISIS doesn’t compute.
I think you missed my point about “militarization.” I was quoting the Kleptoblog.
And the attitude is true. You see it rolled out whenever the cops shoot somebody (front or back): you better hope they show up if you ever need them.
As for the armaments, they will continue to be showered onto the local police from on high as long as we have a War on Terror and a War on Drugs.
I recall when entire cities were being torched in the 60’s during the civil rights protests (ie. Detroit, etc…) The cops didn’t employ a battery of half-tracks and tanks back then. No need for it today either. Most of us don’t want a military-style occupation of our cities. We pay the police hefty salaries and benefits to run into harm’s way. Most are in the top 3% of income earners. If they can’t take the heat – then go sell lighting and furniture at LampsPlus.
The drug war is no different than the days of prohibition in Chicago in the 30’s. But their cops didn’t run around in full military gear. Acts of terrorism are still rare in America. We’ve had crazy people massacre innocents on the streets since I’ve been a kid. Remember when that wackjob shot over 40 people from the U of Texas tower in the 60’s? Terrorism in America is not a new phenomenon. No reason to slide down the slippery slope.
Did any of you folks catch that interview segment on ‘Fox and Friends’ with Donald Trump, Jr?
They asked him to comment on quotes from Sharpton, Cher and Jon Stewart saying they’d leave the country if Trump’s elected President.
Junior said he’d pay for their airfare. 🙂
The apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

I won’t believe it until I actually see it, but it appears that Hillary is inching closer and closer to getting indicted for servergate.
The feebies have apparently granted immunity and thereby gained the cooperation of the dude who set up Hillary’s server in her home. This has been made public.
The feebies generally don’t take that important step unless they believe they have an airtight case and intend to pull the proverbial trigger.
Of course, it’s the DOJ that decides whether it goes to the Grand Jury. However, there is little doubt that the feebies and the DOJ are working hand in hand during this stage of the process. I doubt that immunity for the prosecutorial witness would have been granted and publicized unless there was some level of agreement between the ones at the top of the DOJ food chain and the feebies.
But who knows? Is an indictment of Mrs. Clinton still on the table? What a headline that would make in the midst of a POTUS election with the former First Lady far in the lead to gain the Democrat nomination.
If it does happen I suspect we’ll see it in 4 weeks or less before we get too deep into the election season. What would you give for a spectator ticket for entry into the rooms where these decisions get made? 🙂
