Loretta’s Senate Announcement – now with VIDEO!

Well, all we know FOR SURE is that she’s gonna make a “significant political announcement,” but I think we all know what that’s gonna be.  She told me a few months ago she was “really, seriously” thinking of running  for the Barbara Boxer’s old Senate seat next year.  And she’s been on Facebook with her consultant Christopher Townsend coyly hinting at the same thing.  So the Orange Juice Blog is gonna go out on a very short limb here and be the first to announce – Loretta Sanchez is running for U.S. Senate.

If this “significant political announcement” is something different I will apologize and eat my hat.

Does she really think she can beat the beloved AG Kamala Harris?  Or is she just tired of commuting to Washington?  She’s been there nearly as long as Crazy Dana Rohrabacher.  (And btw thanks to both of them for opposting TPP Fast Track.)

The most interesting question to us local political junkies is – who will take her place in Congress?  Tom Daly?  Lou Correa?  Jose Solorio?  Some Santa Ana Councilperson?  Sharon Quirk-Silva who told me two years ago she wouldn’t even move the few blocks necessary to do such a thing, but whom I would forgive if she did?  The seat seems safe for a Democrat – especially a Democrat with Loretta’s endorsement – especially a latino, latina, or “latina” Democrat.

Well I’d better get this out before Pedroza beats me.  Not much to the “press release” :
