Big Tobacco Lying Again – What Else Is New?

In another attempt to protect its obscene profits, BIG TOBACCO is spending tens of millions of dollars to con Californians into voting against Proposition 29 on the June 2012 ballot.

The truth is Proposition 29 would only increase excise taxes by $1 per pack on cigarette purchases.  It would NOT be a tax on all Californians, as BIG TOBACCO would have us believe.

And the bulk of the revenue raised from this proposed cigarette tax would support research on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and potential cures for cancer and other tobacco-related diseases.

Sounds good to me.  I’m with the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, and millions of Californians who are fed up with the lies of BIG TOBACCO.

I’m voting YES on Proposition 29.
