‘MURDERGATE!!!’ is Back in the News! Blogger Behind It Gets Grumpy!

Fast and Furious, the Obama-Holder “scandal” that was going to deliver the Presidential race to Republicans this year (stoked to no small degree by our own former-and-sadly-lamented blogger Geoff Willis, who dubbed it “Murdergate”), is back in the news, Jack! And … it’s sad.

[F]ormer militia man turned gun rights blogger [Mike Vanderboegh] is angry because he thinks the Republican “sons-a-bitches” on the House Oversight Committee put on the “ultimate display of public limp dickery” during a Thursday hearing in which Attorney General Eric Holder testified about ATF’s botched Operation Fast and Furious.

“You know what the Republicans just did? They sold out every mother’s son who put their life and career on the line to try to bring this truth out,” Vanderboegh told TPM. “Another display like this and people will forget the whole thing.”

“I submit to you that it is entirely possible that the fix is in,” Vanderboegh told TPM. “It could be as simple as a picture of something like John Boehner with a sheep, you know. Because they’ve done that before. The FBI blackmails people routinely. They always have.”

Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) did ease up a bit on the his previous rhetoric about Holder’s roll in Fast and Furious, saying he “never accused [Holder] of having personal knowledge” of the “gunwalking” tactics used during the operation, instead focusing his energies on why the DOJ wouldn’t turn over certain categories of documents the Justice Department maintains were privileged.

Oh, Darrell Issa — for shame!  Your district is moving partially into Orange County now!  You think that people are going to put up with that sort of weak tea party?  Watch out, sir, or you may face a challenge from the Right!

I continue to take the view towards “Murdergate” that I did when Geoff Willis was burning up the cable wires with his posts on it here: please, please, please let this be the basket in which the Republicans put all of their eggs this year.  Please let them be the Susan G. Komen Foundation to our Planned Parenthood, if you know what I mean.

But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
