This was too great last night, seeing the California Democratic Party’s foul-mouthed leader John Burton and the Inland Empire’s wild-eyed immigrant-bashing Assemblyman Tim Donnelly on the Daily Show, talking about our very problematic, “direct-democratic,” custom of government by referendum. Check it out if you missed it:

It rarely happens that I can’t understand a bleeped word, but what was the word bleeped in the phrase “Tim Donnelly is an _______”? It seemed like it started with an “A” or an “O,” but it seemed too long to be the “A” word that I would have expected.
Hilarious clip, of course. John Burton is foul but lovable.
I think he’s saying “arse-hole”.
You don’t ever want to borrow Burton’s Kindle.
I don’t agree with a damn thing that Burton says – but I like the way he says it.
I’d love to see Burton moderating the Republican debates.
